At first I thought the legs part was too big, but once I put on the top halfs I'd already started sculpting, they're looking reeeal nice. ;-) |

Looks like the UK guys are getting there's, so is everyone planning on doing a group/squad or are some of you going to just do single figures as well? Trying to figure out how many contest prizes we need to plan for. |
GriffinTamer | 28 Feb 2013 5:28 a.m. PST |
I was thinking of doing two groups (to enter in two categories, I suppose)-- one "hard" SF and one of low-tech creatures that could be fantasy or also SF. |
TheCount | 28 Feb 2013 6:21 a.m. PST |
A Squad for Sci-Fi (Hard or Pulp) is my current thinking. 1 x Leader, 2-3 x Warriors, 1-2 x Specialists. That sort of thing, nothing radical, it's commonly what gamers need it seems, but I'd be happy to try something different. Cheers, TC. |

Zephyr1 | 28 Feb 2013 3:58 p.m. PST |
I'm doing a group of 3 (2 with AK's, 1 with a 'disruptor'), and one other figure that has an 'open' hand for placing your own weapons (though it will come with an RPG.) My idea for a 'boss' character didn't work out, so I'm dropping that one
. Maybe a name for the figure line could be "1st Alien Mercenary Legion" ;) |

Cool idea Zephyr1

Count me in, too – I have no idea what to do with them but this sounds like fun. So, any idea on how this is going to end? Will we start a thread so everyone can post his pics and write a little about his sculpts? |

These little weirdos are really nice
I am working on my design tonight. I wanted to get them in hand before finalizing the thought of the upper sculpt; I have it now. Sculpting this weekend. :) |

Can't wait to see what you guys come up with! Dan |
Zephyr1 | 08 Mar 2013 8:55 p.m. PST |
I'm wondering if I should trim off the top half of the leg's conical post to make a shallower 'knob' the figure can be set on. The recess seems a little too deep and might cause a problem in molding (although one figure I'm sculpting sidesteps this issue.) I think I'll leave it alone for now. ;-) |

Official rules for the contest
Here are the rules for the first ever TMP Cacique Caribe sculpting contest. By now most everyone should have there sculpting dollies. The contest is for the top half of the miniatures only, these must be separate pieces from the bottoms as anything else will be uncast-able. The entries must be something that will withstand the heat and pressure of vulcanization and cast-able as sculpted. All entries will be the property of Lone Gunman Games and become part of there catalog of miniatures with full creative credit going to the original sculptors So as to increase the chances of not having work duplicated by two different contestants we have set up categories so that people can declare what there intentions are without revealing there final designs. categories for sculpting would include
Bio-mechanical Fantasy horror Alien: plant/fungus Alien: Primitive Alien: Advanced Alien: Creature Flying (insert category) Weird (insert category) All entries will need to be received by me by May 1 2013 via either digital photo or physical sculpts. Anyone who can take there own photo's will be of a great help as my digital photo ability is limited. All entries will be judged by Wyatt the Odd, so please keep your progress between you and I and do not tag you photo's with your names. Since some of our contestants are over seas Please be aware that sending the sculpts may take a month to arrive via standard mail. I will need all the sculpts here in a reasonable amount of time after the deadline so that mastering can occur in a timely manner. All contestants will receive the contest tops of the sculptures plus enough bottoms to finish each figure. If my assumption of 50 final sculpts is correct each person will receive $100 USD USD worth of miniatures for there entries. If we receive more then one group of sculpts per sculptor then this number will increase accordingly. The more that comes in the more that will go out to each contestant. Since everyone seems to be doing groups we will have an additional prize for the top three sets of sculpts. each sculptor can only win one prize. 1st place $100.00 USD USD store credit or $50.00 USD USD cash 2nd place $70.00 USD USD store credit or $35.00 USD USD cash 3rd place $30.00 USD USD store credit or $15.00 USD USD cash Store credit can be applied to either the Lone Gunman Games site or the Napthyme's RPG Den Ebay store stock. |

Sounds good! I will be submitting an entry in the Alien: Creature category, and also (time permitting) in the Alien: Advanced category. Having a lot of fun with the project so far! |
napthyme | 27 Apr 2013 11:48 a.m. PST |
there are enough that need some more time, lets add a month to the deadline so everyone has the time to finish things properly. |
GriffinTamer | 13 May 2013 6:55 p.m. PST |
So, how's everyone else doing on their sculpts? I finished mine up over the weekend and sent them off this morning. Entries in two categories: Alien – Creature and Alien – Advanced. Can't wait to see what the rest of you have come up with! |
napthyme | 14 May 2013 10:39 a.m. PST |
Yours made the total up to 4 entries so far I am hoping to see a minimum of 10 before were done with the contest, but most of the guys who were in the UK have gone silent, so no idea if there still participating or not. |

I have some more entries coming in so please let me know if your still working on stuff for the contest as there is going to be at least 5 sets to share out so far. |
