I have these in stock now. just trying to iron out the final details for the contest. Everyone that enters will get copies of all the sculpts produced plus 3 legged bottoms to match.
Sets of 5 dollies are $5.00 USD plus shipping. lots of open categories for these so there shouldn't be much chance of someone duplicating someone else's work. those interested who have no already singed up please PM me or e-mail at hintzjim at hotmail dotcom |

I don't know how I missed that this contest was going on. I'm definitely interested, although I'm not sure how well my efforts will turn out: this little guy is the only real sculpting I've ever done.
I've already got a few ideas though, and I'll try my best. P.S. What are the categories, and are there any rules I need to be aware of? |

yes I should have added the previous thread for answers to other questions. TMP link |

I gotta buy some fresh green stuff – mine has gone stale, to my dismay. |

Well, my first effort is well underway. Certainly a fun project so far. * * * Any chance of some official rules any time soon? A few suggestions to get the ball rolling: Since it seems there'll only be a dozen or so entrants, there needn't be a whole lot of categories; maybe just "fantasy" and "SciFi," or maybe "no tech," "low tech" and "high tech." Maybe entries should be limited to one group of up to five (or up to five unrelated individual sculpts) per category, so things don't get too crazy to keep track of? As for prizes
I expect most of us are mainly interested in bragging rights, plus getting some cool sculpts, more than any high dollar award. And I think, if there are going to be prizes, then probably the sculpts should be kept secret / anonymous until the results are in. (Kept secret from the judge, at least, that is.) Also: there's been no clear indication of who will end up with rights to the sculpts. I guess from what was said in the earlier thread that the models would belong to napthyme and be offered in his shop? I'm OK with that so long as sculptors get credit for their work, but it should probably be stated officially before everyone sends their entries in. * * * And if anyone has suggestions for a good game / rules set to use with these guys, I'm interested. (This is my first venture into 15mm SF gaming.) |

One other thought
it might be a good idea to combine the three threads relating to this contest into one, or just choose one to use down the line. It would certainly make it easier to keep track of what's going on. : ) |

Making a new thread
TMP forumites are notorious for showing more interest for new threads lol, with some only watching the front page and virgin threads. The categories
just a thought
with only a handful of people competing I would think favorite single and favorite unit should suffice. Watering it down with a half dozen categories would make it half one or two entries per grouping. :) As for personal theme
mine are going along the classic fire team
NCO, (2) infantry trooper, heavy weapon, special weapon
or NCO, (3) infantry trooper, heavy/special weapon. I am leaning towards a focus on the alien form with consideration for potential casting
futuristic weapons for sci-fi and sci-fantasy use. This way if selected then multiple |

Yes, I am working on the particulars here for these ATM. For some reason sales have been brisk lately and I have been trying to keep up with shipping again. I also have not had the time to figure out how much I can dedicate to the prize fund as that will increase the total cost of the project. I have another set of figures to release this weekend and hopefully there sales figures will help me with an idea of potential sales for the line since nothing I have released has ever broken even. |

I am not interested in funded prizes myself. A couple finished miniatures would be enough for me, to be honest, if I were to win :) |

Guys, I agree with 28mmMan, a few casts will be reward enough for me. As for multiple variants, I've never done that all that much. My stuff is usually one of a kind stuff, but always with the hope that if the figure proves popular the manufacturer would send me a few casts to re-pose and such. Example: link The few multiple poses I've done have been "naked" dollies, that I hope to dress and arm and return for casting the final unit(s). Example: link Dan PS. By the way, here are the previous threads on the tripedal dollies: TMP link TMP link |

Official rules for the contest
Here are the rules for the first ever TMP Cacique Caribe sculpting contest. By now most everyone should have there sculpting dollies. The contest is for the top half of the miniatures only, these must be separate pieces from the bottoms as anything else will be uncast-able. The entries must be something that will withstand the heat and pressure of vulcanization and cast-able as sculpted. All entries will be the property of Lone Gunman Games and become part of there catalog of miniatures with full creative credit going to the original sculptors So as to increase the chances of not having work duplicated by two different contestants we have set up categories so that people can declare what there intentions are without revealing there final designs. categories for sculpting would include
Bio-mechanical Fantasy horror Alien: plant/fungus Alien: Primitive Alien: Advanced Alien: Creature Flying (insert category) Weird (insert category) All entries will need to be received by me by May 1 2013 via either digital photo or physical sculpts. Anyone who can take there own photo's will be of a great help as my digital photo ability is limited. All entries will be judged by Wyatt the Odd, so please keep your progress between you and I and do not tag you photo's with your names. Since some of our contestants are over seas Please be aware that sending the sculpts may take a month to arrive via standard mail. I will need all the sculpts here in a reasonable amount of time after the deadline so that mastering can occur in a timely manner. All contestants will receive the contest tops of the sculptures plus enough bottoms to finish each figure. If my assumption of 50 final sculpts is correct each person will receive $100 USD worth of miniatures for there entries. If we receive more then one group of sculpts per sculptor then this number will increase accordingly. The more that comes in the more that will go out to each contestant. Since everyone seems to be doing groups we will have an additional prize for the top three sets of sculpts. each sculptor can only win one prize. 1st place $100.00 USD store credit or $50.00 USD cash 2nd place $70.00 USD store credit or $35.00 USD cash 3rd place $30.00 USD store credit or $15.00 USD cash Store credit can be applied to either the Lone Gunman Games site or the Napthyme's RPG Den Ebay store stock. |

there are enough that need some more time, lets add a month to the deadline so everyone has the time to finish things properly. |
Chef Lackey Rich | 28 Apr 2013 6:15 p.m. PST |
Damn, glad to hear it. Almost done, but I'd forgotten the deadline was May 1st – thought I had till the end of the month instead. |
