I had put my 15mm Necromunda stuff on a backburner after getting burned out trying to come up with some terrain ideas. I don't really want the gothic look of GW stuff but I still want a tall and imposing structure and what better way to get that but in a smaller scale!

I picked up some electrical box stuff while at the hardware store today and decided to give it a go at making something.

Not wanting to be like everyone else I decided to flip them over. I quite like the look of it that way.

I am not quite sure how I want to add the yellow pillars yet. On the back or side, a few or lots of them.

They are going to be mixed into the catwalks that I have to make that will circle the levels and I will be leaving openings for gantries to other buildings as well.

I will not get much more done on this test model until I buy some more styrene parts but I am happy with the general bare bones feel of it now… even if it isn't gothic in nature.

C&C always welcome.

The electrical boxes have a really goo Necromunda feel to them.

That works. Perfect for Necromunda.

That . . . worked out surprisingly well. I especially like how the recessed parts of the electrical boxes look a bit like entryways into the building. Good job, and I am definitely going to borrow this!

Suggestion: Cut the yellow columns down to a lower height to act as supports for some additional catwalks.

Thanks all!

Richard – I thought so too about them looking like doorways. I seem to recall that in Firefly they had similar doors that led to ladders inside.

Dglennjr,
The columns are going to be used to bulk them shape out and work as support for the cat-walking above. I am thinking of using a set of them for the side as well and build an elevator between them. Figuring out a cheap and easy way to make it go from level to level is important to me. I am going to try and include ladder rungs, stairs and a lift as possible to allow maximum movement in game.

I think those yellow pillars could be very useful in any industrial type of layout, were did you find them?

Dropzonetoe Fezian29 Oct 2012 2:28 a.m. PST

At a farm store, they are electrical fencing spacers they come in lots of shapes and sizes.

I wonder if i can find them over here in the UK,

Just a quick update with a bit more progress!
