To convert these to SF Desert Horsemen?

Perhaps, to look a bit like this . . .

Or would I be better off adding robes and turbans to these guys (or other 15mm PA horsemen)?

Thoughts?

Easier to mod the top ones, I think.

Nothing a dremel, a small hole punch and some thin styrene for the goggles, and some green stuff can't handle.

Body swap the khurasan stuff for rebels sahadeen.

You might be able to tweek a few of the sahadeen skulpts to look good sitting on a horse.

I think the top ones have a very nomadic feel to them, all you will need to do is give them some ultra tech or sci-fi looking weapons and they will look the part.

Great figures for conversion : plastic rod for sights and grenade launchers.
Green stuff for masks, goggles, pouches, visors for horses etc.
20 years ago my oppo used 25mm Turag figures for scifi with only a paint job, nobody twigged at conventions that they were historical.
love the hmg in the range minimal conversion to a heavy pulse cannon etc.

Rebel Sahadeen can be converted with a few snips to the base and file the feet, small cut to the crotch, ouch. Slight spread to legs, fit on a good mount… search my blog and youll see mine…Stepman3@ blogspot…

definitely mod the top ones!

Id love something like that for my Rusk'ies…sadly I have no chance with horses!

Copy Von Trinkenessen idea and add some green stuff to make kneepads. Extra rolls and kit to the horses, maybe some fuel cans for water.

Clip a few of the rifles and make them more modern – You don't have to change a lot either. There are tons of stories of recovered weapons in Afghanistan being quite old.

Swap out a couple rifles, A pair of goggles and perhaps a bit of modernist looking kit on the horse and it would be good to go.

Peter Pig has just released Tuareg heads that would be perfect for converting figures into post-apocalyptic or desert planet dwellers:
