At the suggestion of CPBelt : TMP link

Now that Napoleon and the Armies of Mars is Available : TMP link and considering the other Napoleonic SF and fantasy rule sets out there should there be a Napoleonic SF board and would you support it ?

Yes
Yes if you Make it F/SF (to cover Flintloque too)

While not Napoleonic specifically, I think there is a growing interest in late 1700's/early 1800's sci-fi gaming (sometimes called Lacepunk) and a general board might be in order. A lot of it currently ends up in the VSF board where it really deosn't fit.

So, yes i would support a late 18th/ early 19th century 'lacepunk' (for want of a better term) board.

Historicalgamer05 Oct 2012 12:11 p.m. PST

Nope

John the OFM05 Oct 2012 12:22 p.m. PST

Of course I would. What a silly question.
Then I could get to invade Canada with Leyden Jar projectors and giant stompy robots in 1813 as well as 1885.

Oh wait! The pedants have decreed that the War of 1812 is NOT Napoleonic! Then we will need a War of 1812 SF Board as well.
And an American Revolution SF Board.
And a Mad Anthony Wayne's Wars SF Board.
And a Seven Years War SF Board (I hope we can wrap a FIW SF Board into this as well.)

platypus01au05 Oct 2012 1:32 p.m. PST

No. Instead you should start Nap SF threads on the Napoleonic Board. After all, it IS Napoleonics anyway isn't it?

Cheers,

Just call it Musket Trek and put all the horse and musket eras on a single board.

Pictors Studio05 Oct 2012 3:11 p.m. PST

I think if you did a Napoleonic (word combing fantasy and sci-fi which might still just be fantasy) board that encompassed both SF and fantasy you would probably have something. It would be difficult to deny that Napoleonic fantasy is a thing with Flintloque out there. It may not be the most popular system in the world but it is enjoyed and has a range of figs to go along with it.

I've been thinking about doing some Napoleonic fantasy naval stuff and have a few sea monsters about to do the very thing, although I haven't gotten it off the ground yet much. To be fair most of the human ships are painted. :)

If one was wanting to do the Napoleonic naval dragon books in the Temeraire series, where else would one turn? Dreadnaughts?

Charlie 1205 Oct 2012 7:04 p.m. PST

Why not? Sounds like fun….

Leadjunky05 Oct 2012 7:43 p.m. PST

Good grief………just rename the VSF Historical SF and post it there.

TheCount06 Oct 2012 1:57 a.m. PST

Leadjunky has it, I think. "Historical SF" can cover it all.

Hmmm. But will Cthulhu be allowed a look in? Hell, like he needs permission.

Etranger07 Oct 2012 3:54 p.m. PST

Why not? But include fantasy so all those "what if Napoleon won at Waterloo" threads can go there too.
