I'm looking for something similar in style to the "Magni Heavy Lifter" that AoG never got around to designing for their N-scale Gropos miniatures game:

Size-wise, I'm looking for something that looks like it could transport two or three of the Earthforce tanks from the same game, which are about 45mm long by 33mm wide, so it'll need to be a big Bleeped texter. Actual scale isn't too important, as long as any scale-dependent features can be modified easily. I'm looking for a rough approximation, not necessarily an exact match. For example, I was considering the dropship from Dark Realm Miniatures:

but it's 6mm, and I can't tell how long it actually is.

the old crow one would suit

better for 10mm (made for 6mm).

again made for 6mm, definitely work for 10mm. Don't know about 15mm but have seen it used this way.

Cheers for those links.

By the way, is crossposting to SF Discussion or 15mm Sci Fi verboten, then?

That red one looks really cool, other than the goofy, yellow pod on the dorsal area.

I wonder if it is removeable?

Nice, but nothing like the design I said I was looking for a match for. grin

I found a couple of 5" long Thunderbird 2 models which can be kitbashed appropriately.

Insomniac06 Aug 2012 3:08 a.m. PST

The Thunderbird 2 ships are excellent. Are you using the old style one or the one from the recent movie?

The newer one is much sleeker and has 3 drop-down pods which are perfect for troop drops… they also remain attached to the ship. The older one with a single pod is good for vehicle transport but I am not so keen on the 'drop pod' that falls out from the frame of the ship… but it is all horses for courses really.

This is a large scale one with some 28mm Grymn but by sealing in the front windows and adding a cockpit, all feeling of scale disappears; making the ship very versatile in a range of sizes:

It looks like the 60s version. Not that it matters since I'll be replacing the wings, engines and tail completely. I think a couple of 1:288 scale 747s should suffice for those.
