Besides, if Dan's anything like moi, he's lucky at that. Lady of my house, only little over two and a half decades, has to put up with so much 'odd', I'd have no right to complain. ;->= Dan, I think you could well have joined in, ethically, but am charmed to hear you defer to her 'radar' reading. Doug |
Zephyr1 | 09 Jul 2013 2:35 p.m. PST |
Maybe Dan can send in a sculpt or two anyway just so he won't be left out. ;-) |
Cacique Caribe | 09 Jul 2013 2:41 p.m. PST |
Alas, I can't for this round. I'm working away from home and don't think I could commit to any deadline right now. But, no worries, definitely for the next one. Dan |
GriffinTamer | 09 Jul 2013 7:07 p.m. PST |
It's certainly fine with me if Dan joins in, next time if not for this one
For sculpt attribution, you can put me down as Elye Alexander / Griffin Tamer Studio. And for the question of what might be the starting point for a future contest
well, I can imagine one where an interesting weapon or piece of equipment was the starting point, and everyone created a different wielder. Or, simply a theme of some sort and everyone sculpts something that goes with the theme. |
Cacique Caribe | 09 Jul 2013 11:39 p.m. PST |
Or
How about a nearly finished creature, but you guys have to independently figure out what form of weapon(s) and other gear go with it best, and you then sculpt those items on the creature? Perhaps something with this basic body shape? link Thoughts? Dan |
War Monkey | 10 Jul 2013 12:05 a.m. PST |
I haven't sculpt anything in my life and if Dan wants in I say go for it, it's judged independently from someone whom you all trust and know to do the right thing. |
GriffinTamer | 10 Jul 2013 4:25 p.m. PST |
I definitely like the prawn critter. Personally, I find it much more interesting to sculpt creatures than weapons / gear
but I'd probably be up for it anyhow. Certainly if you handled the next contest that way, you'd end up with an army (or at least a platoon) worth of beasties that would all go together reasonably well. |
Cacique Caribe | 10 Jul 2013 5:19 p.m. PST |
Napthyme (Jim), What do you think of a nearly-finished critter, a bit like the "prawn" in this next link? link I played with that body type a while back and almost finished it. I could send a pic or two of how it turned out and, if you like it, consider that my next donation. Please let me know if that's the direction you wanted to go. Thanks, Dan |
napthyme | 10 Jul 2013 6:57 p.m. PST |
Hey Dan, I did look at it, its ok, but not sure how much of a contest it would actually make. I would need to see your sculpt to make a final decision on that actually. I do have a couple ideas that I had considered having Adam sculpt for the company. If there within your ability range your welcome to step in and do them instead. Jim |

Just say the word. I'll help where I can. Dan |

The future's looking green, but any news on the current contest? Cheers, Rob. |
napthyme | 15 Jul 2013 11:37 p.m. PST |
Its coming, tried to get to it tonight, but to many piddly things that had to be taken care of ate the evening. Wyatt has made his decisions, I just need to edit the webpage and post the announcements around the net. |
napthyme | 17 Jul 2013 9:43 p.m. PST |
The Contest page has now been updated. come and see who won and who entered which sculpts. link |
Cacique Caribe | 17 Jul 2013 10:13 p.m. PST |
Napthyme, Good job, man. And to everyone that participated, awesome entries! Wow. So glad to see how each participant had an entirely different vision of what sort of creature the legs should belong to. Fantastic exercise. Can't wait to do it again. Dan |
TheCount | 17 Jul 2013 11:19 p.m. PST |
Cool! Well done to all of us I say, and many thanks to Jim & Dan for the opportunity. And yes, again please! I'm going to suggest that entrants try to imagine what Wyatt the Odd looks like from the neck downwards : TMP link Regards, 'Count. |
28mmMan | 18 Jul 2013 6:51 a.m. PST |
Congrats to everyone who entered :) |
Gokiburi | 18 Jul 2013 8:06 a.m. PST |
Congratulations to the winners! I'm surprised that 28mmMan's entry didn't place (those little guys have gobs of personality), but I think that all the entries were so good that it must've been hard to choose between them. I look forward to the next contest. |
War Monkey | 18 Jul 2013 9:06 a.m. PST |
Congratulations to all of you and a special congratulations to the winners. It's been great to watch this as it all unfolded and to see what everyone came up with, Wow I would have a very hard time to pick winners. looking forward to see the next contest. |
napthyme | 18 Jul 2013 11:18 a.m. PST |
For those that I owe prize's to, let me know if you want me to send you the money via paypal or if you want it as store credit. You can use that in either LGG stock or the Ebay store stock. I am getting a huge lot of reaper metals in this month from my sources along with quite a bit of Mongoose minis for JD and ACTA. So please let me know
|
GriffinTamer | 18 Jul 2013 7:20 p.m. PST |
Wow, cool! I'm humbled to have won
there's a lot of talent here. And congrats to the other winners! This is actually the first contest I've entered. I'm fairly new to mini sculpting still but I've been putting a lot of time into it-- it's become a bit of an obsession, though I'd say a positive one. I'm really enjoying the whole creative process. This contest is a great example of why I enjoy it-- an interesting challenge, a chance to try new techniques and explore new subject matter, and a community of interesting people. A big thanks to CC and Napthyme for getting this whole thing organized. |
Zephyr1 | 21 Jul 2013 2:35 p.m. PST |
Don't be humble, you did a great job. ;-) I placed second. As an additional "Thank you!" to everybody who entered, I've traded in my prize to get extra Stalkers for everyone. Trust me, having only three won't be enough
. Good job, everybody! |
GriffinTamer | 22 Jul 2013 2:19 p.m. PST |
Thank you Zephyr1! Cool, more Stalkers
I really need a rules system for 15mm sci fi now. Any suggestions, anyone? (I'd prefer some sort of quick skirmish game
) |
napthyme | 25 Jul 2013 7:24 p.m. PST |
I saw where Mike is coming out with Mighty Armies sci-fi edition, will try and get these put into that system at least once it comes out. I've managed financially to order more minis from my sources, so those with credit can have an even better variety now. |
TheCount | 26 Jul 2013 2:08 p.m. PST |
Mighty Armies sci-fi does look interesting. Here's a TMP discussion: TMP link Jim, when might the new ordered minis be in your online store for viewing? Cheers, Rob. |
napthyme | 27 Jul 2013 10:53 a.m. PST |
Hey Rob, not sure how fast I can get it listed. I may post some of it here in the marketplace before I post them in the store as some of this is just one pack leftovers stuff and the less I have to process it the better things are for me time wise. |
TheCount | 27 Jul 2013 2:14 p.m. PST |
Fair enough. I'll keep a eye out. Cheers! |

Guys, Check out this "bacteriophage":
link Also seen halfway down this other page (in case the links above don't work for you): link Very "Amphoran"* in appearance, wouldn't you say?
