One of the writers to whom I always felt I should send an appreciative not. Not so much for science-fiction--I just loved the way he told a story. andy |

AAawwww..damn. I cannot say how sad this makes me. He was one of my favorites. In my high school science fiction literature class he was a staple of the teacher and our reading as well as the subject of my final assignment. Well, now he's free to journey to Mars and beyond. -Eli |

One of my favorites. He made it to 91, a good run for a great writer. RIP. |

I use his Short Story Anthology "Bradbury Classics: R is for Rocket and Golden Apples of the Sun" as the intro for my "Science of Science Fiction Class". His short story entitled "The Murderer" was prescient about how personal communication devices (He called the "Wrist Radios" in the story) and "Intelligent Appliances" would cause a person to want to "kill technology". His description of the "future" from 1953 is nearly spot on for what we have today!!! It's almost like he lived out his own "Toynbee Convector". RIP to one of the best storytellers of all time. RIP, Ray, one of the greats. Shouldn't this be on the Obituaries Board, though? |

A genuine great. He could conjure unforgettable imagery with the sparest style. "Live Forever!" indeed. |

Unfortunately I can't say I was ever a fan of his work. Nonetheless he had a tremendous impact on SF literature, and he will be missed. Damon. |

To appease Margard, who makes Ray in 28mm and how would you game him? "Look Mommy, a shooting star!" "make a wish!" |

So many memories and lines from his stories keep coming back. "Someting Wicked This Way Comes," Chapter 31: "Nothing much else happened, all the rest of that night." And that's the whole chapter. RIP, sir. |

I was highly influenced by novel "Farenheit 451" and I read all of his stories that were in print. I recall that Bill Gaines and Al Feldstien were using his stories in "Weird Science" and "Weird Fantasy" which were comics published by EC Comics, so he wrote and sarcastically told Gaines that his payment check "must have been lost in the mail", but he liked what Gaines was doing with his writing so they worked out a deal where Bradbury got a token royalty and all future EC issues with Bradbury's stories included a banner on the cover that read "In this issue EC's adaptation of a story by Ray Bradbury America's top science fiction writer". |
