Ive recently been bitten by the Vietnam bug and I need a bit of advice. I have no problem painting US/Free World vehicles, but I'm fuzzy on colors for the large number of soft skins and the few armored vehicles the NVA used during the war. Can anyone provide a short and sweet, hopefully Vallejo-linked painting guide? Thanks!!

Everything I have seen points to "soviet green", which is a deep dark green. Not sure about Vallejo, maybe Russian green. It also depends on the scale too..

Oh, yes. Should've said. 1/285

When I was painting T-62s in 6mm for my "cold war goes hot 1975" project, I airbrushed them all in Testors Acryl Russian Green. It doesn't look like the NVA repainted their equipment much, if at all…

Damon.

Yep – dark green like the Soviets.

But if you paint them really dark you won't be able to see them well. So go with a colour that is quite a bit brighter.

You can't go wrong with green.

Highlight with base green mixed with yellow as Sov green tends to fade to a grotty patchy yellowish colour.

Vietnam is dusty too.

It's not all the red dust you sometimes see – a yellowy dust is common too.

Looks like Dark Green perhaps faded with dust on it. Robert
