Here's a look at the render of the Intruder Fighting Orb, the heavy gun platform that supports the Intruder infantry in battle.  It is light, fast and very manoeuvrable, with high firepower -- in short, the perfect support platform for Intruder combat formations --  and its cannons are the only weapons in the Intruder arsenal capable of penetrating Corsair armour at a distance.

The Fighting Orb is small enough that it is still able to operate effectively in urban areas, which is critical to the Intruder offensive strategy -- infiltrating into Earth settlements and fighting amongst the Earth colonial populations, to prevent the Corsair units from simply atomizing Intruder formations with their rocket launchers.

That looks great! Different from everything else on the market… Can't wait for these releases!

What background/line is this from, little confused as to where it fits in.

Reminds me of something out of Battle LA.

Speculation on my part, but it seems like part of the Heinlein-inspired Earthdoom line. The Intruders are analogous to the "Skinnies" from the book.

There's no mention by Heinlein of what sort of vehicles the Skinnies used (at least not that I remember), so there's lots of room for this sort of a craft to fill the niche.

Non-canonical, but I like it!

Looks pretty legit.

khurasanminiatures18 Apr 2012 12:52 p.m. PST

Don't think Heinlein ever had an Earthdoom story line. grin

I can see a lot of cool idea for a vehicle like this.

There was an episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars where Trandoshan slaver/hunters were cruising around in vehicles very similar. Though the Star Wars ones reminded me a lot of "redneck pickups" down to having light bars, but they had a very similar feel to thos vehicle. I've been trying to figure out how to make something like this –

Your cool little vehicle will fit the bill nicely.

It occurs to me that perhaps the Huntarr might look cool scooting around in one of these too.

I can't wait for this to come out.

Very cool Jon! I can't imagine what else you've got planned for the Intruders.

Cheers,

Can I have one with Blind Slave Women?
Seriously the more I see from your new lines the more I want them over the Feds and Neo-Soviets.
Wonder if Huntaars would work as pilots of this?

Eli Arndt18 Apr 2012 1:51 p.m. PST

Huntarrs are much taller than humans and looks about the same size as the Intruders from the pictures we've seen. I imagine they would work.

" Can I have one with Blind Slave Women?"

Kevin says NO! besides that you forgot the big mouthy tentacled aqua-monster thing grafted into the middle and the giant eyeballs.

Personally I think it looks more Halo-ish, like those hovering sniper's nests with the levitation beam in the middle, except it's not purple.

I must admit this range is starting to look really good.

No, I didn't forget. I choose to forget the slimy slaver and go straight for the women.

I like the Intruder Fighting Orb – Khurasan, as ever, has excellent designs.

(But I have to admit that I love the Trandoshan 'pickup'; I let out a very Orky 'Ooooooohh….') grin

Yoda: That is why you fail…

BTW how is that an ORB? It's not really a disc or a sphere. It's more like a short wide vertically oriented pipe or a cauldron.

blackfang19 Apr 2012 2:15 a.m. PST

I know I've seen these in Johnny Quest. The original one from 1964.

vegabond19 Apr 2012 1:34 p.m. PST

Not really an orb, more of a floating gun platform.
Doesn't fit anything mongoose made, but that's not a bad thing.
