Very pleased to bring you preview paintups of the production models for our 15mm Earthdoom range. The models were designed by Steve Tyler and painted by Dags.

In Earthdoom, Humanity is rapidly expanding into the stars with the help of the fleet and the mighty Corsair battledress, a heavily armoured suit which gives the wearer incredible strength and speed (thanks to a speed-assist backpack). Each Corsair is armed to the teeth with two arm-mounted weapons as well as two huge separate weapons -- a smart missile launcher and a plasmathrower. Also mounted in the suit is a grenade launcher.

Each suit comes with all the pieces to make it a line suit, a scout suit or a command suit.

Scouts have enhanced backpacks with additional comms equipment, but do not carry the separate heavy weapons, in order to maximize their speed. They are supposed to avoid combat but if they are cornered or pressed into action they are still armed with a personal flamethrower mounted on one arm and a laser-sword mounted on the other, as well as the grenade launcher mounted on the rear of the suit.

Command suits are armed like line suits but also have the additional comms equipment of the scout suit.

For line and command suits you get all the pieces to arm the trooper with either the plasma thrower or the smart missile launcher (and the spare weapon as well to mount on the rear of the suit). For the scout you get an empty right arm. All of these pieces come with each pose. Poses will be sold individually!

In decades past, Earth has been in action against the Aranae, an inscrutable Entomalian species with very sophisticated technology, but over the last 12 years there has been little action. Earth intel has indicated that the Aranae have been at war with another race, possibly humanoid, but for the past two or three years, that war seems to have wound down. Some in Earth intel warn that the two alien races have reconciled their differences and are combining to attack Earth Forces, but theirs is the minority opinion ….

When the attacks on Earth colonies first came, the strange humanoid aliens first manifested themselves, called only the Intruders by the far flung platoons stationed on distant planets. Tall and lanky, their Warrior Caste wear carapace armour and fight in fireteams of three, two warriors with a light beamer and one with what the corsairs came to call a "corsair killer" beam weapon. Three of these teams combine under the command of a leader to form a Section.

The first platoon to be attacked, from Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, is heavily engaged with no support on Alpha Centauri 3, their suits far superior in combat strength to the Intruders -- but they are heavily outnumbered, a virtual Thermopylae in space, and when the Intruder Fighting Orbs make planetfall, the firepower begins to even up ….

Closer look at the Intruders

As the Earth colonies struggle to hold on against the Intruder onslaught, Earth strategists scour known space for the Aranae Combined Fleet, the great invasion force of the Aranae Fasthold. Could it be headed for a curiously-spared Earth?

A note on the Corsairs to our regular customers -- these are packed in basically the same way as the Federal Special Forces troops in Power Armour, except these are MUCH bigger (31mm tall or so) and each pose has even more options.

The first codes will be released next week. Thanks for looking.

jpattern219 Mar 2012 7:02 p.m. PST

Nice! I'd like to see it beside a Space Marine to see how it would work as 28mm power armor.

Etranger19 Mar 2012 7:04 p.m. PST

Outstanding. Again….. grin

khurasanminiatures19 Mar 2012 7:04 p.m. PST

Nice! I'd like to see it beside a Space Marine to see how it would work as 28mm power armor.

Thanks! It wouldn't work as 28mm. The suit is not shaped to fit a man's body in that scale.

Eli Arndt19 Mar 2012 7:08 p.m. PST

Well, I have found some of my favorite power armor!

Also, the new aliens, though cool in their own right, might be perfect for the androids I wanted to make.

MiniatureReview19 Mar 2012 7:21 p.m. PST

I really like the look of both units. I think you have winners all around.

Chef Lackey Rich Fezian19 Mar 2012 7:22 p.m. PST

Thanks! It wouldn't work as 28mm. The suit is not shaped to fit a man's body in that scale.

It would fit a brain in a jar just fine, though – or a child small enough to ride in the torso – or an uplifted monkey – or an alien jellyfish – or an AI program. Plenty of uses for 28mm other than shoving an adult human in one.

Eli Arndt19 Mar 2012 7:24 p.m. PST

Heck, could even be a remote vehicle, piloted from the safety of a command truck.

-Eli

jpattern219 Mar 2012 7:26 p.m. PST

Yeah, I meant as a 28mm "ride" for an uplifted monkey or chimp – or Jokaero. :)

Der Krieg Geist19 Mar 2012 7:48 p.m. PST

31mm is enough for me to buy them. :) Robots, androids, cyborgs, remotes you name it,I can justify using it in 28mm games. Thanks for making such nice models. As a side note,if you have plans to release them, scaled up to fit a 28mm pilot, please let me know. I will be happy with either. :)

I especially love those aliens… just great.

JRacel19 Mar 2012 8:19 p.m. PST

More amazing things to buy.

The first codes will be released next week

This is going to get painful to explain to the wife . . .

the trojan bunny19 Mar 2012 8:38 p.m. PST

Awesome! They look a lot like how I pictured the power armour in Heinlein's SST. And actually, those Intruders would make good skinnies…

Personal logo JammerMan Supporting Member of TMP19 Mar 2012 8:49 p.m. PST

You make a good point bunny. A lot closer than the movies.

Cacique Caribe19 Mar 2012 9:17 p.m. PST

Oooo, I like those Intruders!!!

Dan

Thaddeus of Brock19 Mar 2012 9:33 p.m. PST

I agree Dan,
My first impression was "Aliens from 'Signs'"…except with armor, and weapons which, let's be honest makes them far more appealing. :)

Jon, as if it needs to be said, Well done.

Again.

Gunner Dunbar19 Mar 2012 9:49 p.m. PST

Well, I now have my SAFS, these are brilliant.

1905Adventure19 Mar 2012 10:05 p.m. PST

I am so in. I love Ma.K/SF3D and I love serious looking non-comical grey type aliens.

What's behind the PPCLI reference? I occasional game with people who are part of that unit. When they're not out at Shilo or whatever.

Wolfprophet19 Mar 2012 11:08 p.m. PST

Well. My mind is blown and my promise to myself to stop starting new forces before I finish existing ones is clearly not going to hold up. Damn you Khurasan. Damn you.

Awesome! They look a lot like how I pictured the power armour in Heinlein's SST. And actually, those Intruders would make good skinnies…

I'm about 199% sure that's exactly what he was aiming for, since months ago we were questioned about the skinnies. ;) Which would mean he already had something in mind for the Earth and Bugs. I think these guys will look great up alongside the bugs later on too. Sort of the "Meat" of the force with the bugs being the backbone.

McWong7319 Mar 2012 11:30 p.m. PST

Words escape me, these are AWESOME.

McWong7319 Mar 2012 11:31 p.m. PST

Are we going to get Fighting Orbs too?

khurasanminiatures20 Mar 2012 5:06 a.m. PST

Yes, just not right away. The Aranae will be next.

rvandusen Supporting Member of TMP20 Mar 2012 5:07 a.m. PST

If these miniatures don't win some kind of award, I don't know which ones will. Just fantastic in concept and execution.

wminsing20 Mar 2012 5:49 a.m. PST

Awesome, awesome, awesome. :)

Kev134020 Mar 2012 5:59 a.m. PST

OMG!! The 'Intruders' are brilliant, just what I was wanting to form the main alien threat to my human factions! I see lots of these coming my way.

The Corsairs powered armour is pretty cool too, though I'm not sure about the style of some of the weapons…. not going to stop me buying a few though!

Thanks Jon!

Cheers,

Kev

vegabond20 Mar 2012 6:07 a.m. PST

I've been building up my SST forces & these guys will be the icing on the cake. I hope they can be used as grizzlies. If not, I'll just have to make something up because they are so awesome looking.

khurasanminiatures20 Mar 2012 6:36 a.m. PST

By the way, the Intruders are supposed to be about 2.25m (roughly seven and a half feet) tall, so are 20mm in height:

picture

Kev the Corsair suits come with multiple weapons choices. You can't see the plasma thrower (sort of a super flamethrower) in the paintup images, but you can see its design here, if you don't fancy the smart missile launcher:

picture

Or they can just leave the carried weapons off altogether and rely on the weapons built into their arm units and the grenade launcher built into the suit.

These are fabulous! Quick question: Are the intruders digitally sculpted or hand-sculpted? The proportions and poses look very natural.

Very keen.

I can't keep up with all these cool new toys.

(I make fun of others)20 Mar 2012 8:55 a.m. PST

Those aliens are brilliant. Would love to see some with helmets as well.

Stealth100020 Mar 2012 8:55 a.m. PST

Holy moly they are fab. My want list just grows and grows.

HornetsNestMinis20 Mar 2012 8:59 a.m. PST

Always how I imagined the Starship Troopers and Skinies would look when reading the book. Really nice work.

HornetsNestMinis20 Mar 2012 9:03 a.m. PST

And really well painted! I'm looking at you Rebel Minis!

TeknoMerk20 Mar 2012 11:29 a.m. PST

Ya know those Intruders, with the right paint job, could be used for synthetic humans (androids) for my SciFi and SciFi post-apocalypse games. Intruders are on the ever-growing wishlist now!

Nice figures and variety in the Earthdoom range. Now we just need more robot types as described in the other thread…

Kev134020 Mar 2012 12:25 p.m. PST

Thanks for the extra pic showing the plasma thrower Jon! Now I have no excuse! Awesome!

Cheers,

Kev

ski206020 Mar 2012 1:40 p.m. PST

Awesome work! I know I will be using some of those suits to fill out spots in my Human sci-fi force.

I may have to fit those Intruders in as an OpFor also, they have a very good "not human" vibe.

1905Adventure20 Mar 2012 4:44 p.m. PST

I'm not sure what I think about the height of the intruders. It appears to be mostly in their legs though, so making them smaller by 2-3mm could be accomplished with leg swaps.

If you cut them at the ankles and knees and removed a mm from the bottom of the lower leg and the bottom of the upper leg, it would look something like this:

picture

Maybe they're not too tall after all. I'm not sure it'd be worth the effort to make 4 cuts and rejoin them. Would superglue be strong enough for ankle and knee joins on a thin 15mm leg or would you have to pin (which might be a nightmare at this scale). Perhaps all of the 1.5-2mm of height reduction could be taken from the upper leg so you wouldn't have to weaken the miniature's ankles.

Either way, when I get some, I'll test it on one or two even if just to make shorter aliens like how humans vary in height.

Dragon Gunner20 Mar 2012 4:53 p.m. PST

Fantastic can't wait.

Redroom20 Mar 2012 5:11 p.m. PST

very cool stuff

LordNth20 Mar 2012 6:57 p.m. PST

Now the Orcas are going to demand new armor too!

Looking forward to causing you another trip to the postal office in the next week or two.

Mutant Q20 Mar 2012 8:20 p.m. PST

I must have those suits NOW!!!

Splod8920 Mar 2012 8:34 p.m. PST

And that marks the death of my 20mm sci-fi project. Starship Troopers in 15mm seems to be unavoidable now.
Lovely work all round.

1905Adventure20 Mar 2012 10:29 p.m. PST

The more I look at it, the more I love the Corsair suit. It's just fantastic.

NoseGoblin21 Mar 2012 12:27 p.m. PST

I love this release Jon…. Great job!

Karaz12321 Mar 2012 6:17 p.m. PST

wow !
MaK in 15mm yes?
truly amazing. I will buy these as soon as you put them up.
Seems i was just in time with the order for the future cars as well. Saw they where out of stock.
Selling like mad eh?

Please keep doing what you do so ver well and compliments for making 15mm the amazing sci-fi gaming and modelling candystore it is today.

Johny Boy23 Apr 2012 12:24 p.m. PST

Any idea as to a possible release date for these, especially the Corsair suits, would love it if you developed these further with some more MAK inspired goodness.

Brilliant work Jon, well done

khurasanminiatures23 Apr 2012 5:44 p.m. PST

Johnny Boy, just did a big blast of releases and am trying to keep on top of resulting sales -- hope to release them soon!

Cacique Caribe23 Apr 2012 6:00 p.m. PST

Holy you-know-what, Batman! Those Aranae are tall!!!

I hope the Rebel Minis Brogs aren't as tall:

Khurasan, I've noticed a trend as of late. Are you trying to get out of 15mm and sneak us into 28mm? Or are you simply trying to make figures that could, somehow, work for both markets?

Dan

Lfseeney01 May 2012 9:39 p.m. PST

Looked and did not see on the store site,
Are these out yet, if so can I get a link.

Going to be a poor summer at this rate no money left at all.

Lee

khurasanminiatures02 May 2012 5:17 a.m. PST

No, not released yet. I have to get the JTFB out first, and before I do that I want to get the outstanding Caiman and Polecat orders sorted.
