Very cool…are you going to do Borg "stations" against the wall or freestanding? Yellowish/green cellophane would make for good shields.

Angel Barracks08 Apr 2012 3:10 a.m. PST

oooh classic Trek and borgs.
Kirk FTW!

Its looking good, just needs 'dressing' with freestanding consoles and junk to give your entrepid crew some cover!

Thornhammer08 Apr 2012 6:22 a.m. PST

What are the dimensions of your board?

Thanks guys.
@CloudCaptain I used some washers for the stations, I just didn't take any clear pictures of them. I also need to paint them up to make them easier to see. Good idea about the sheilds.

@Thornhammer It is a 16.5" X 16.5" large pizza box.

Malleman,

Awesome work!!!

Is the floor made of 14 pt plastic canvas sheets? What size are the holes (how many per inch)?

And what did you use for the "hoses" along the edge of the board? Are those Lego hoses, straws or something else entirely?

By the way, I think that what you were looking for are pics of the "Borg alcoves" (that's the phrase to look up), which they use during regeneration cyles.

Most of the actual screenshots I found are either too dark, and you can't distinguish any details, or belong to sites that don't allow direct linking of images:

So I am including here a reconstruction I found:

Hey Dan,

They are 10 holes per inch. A little too big in scale, but not that noticable visually in my opinion. Plus it is what I had on hand, and I was trying to do this on the cheap:)

The hoses are straws for the most part. Some are sticks and rods I had in my bit box.

alcoves--ah yes thanks, that is the term. I see the collective is at work!

Malleman,

I have no idea how tall these things are but, the moment I saw the pics, the first thing I thought of was Borg alcoves:

With a few minor modifications, it might pass for a Borg alcove like this, don't you think?

Pretty much to shoulder level on a Necron.

Infojunky,

So the shields are around 15mm tall then? If so, that's about perfect then.

A round non-slotted plastic base could be the platform and the shield could be glued right on the wall behind the base.

Malleman, do you think that would work for you?

I think that they look perfect. I took a picturew of one of the borg next to one of my High Elfs with a shield to get a feel for the size:
