I'm looking for one of the above, for use with 15mm, so something moderately scaled for 28mm would probably constitute a tank. I already have GZG's drones and want something broadly similar but bigger, so far I've found this fro m RAFM, but any other ideas would be great

I think there used to be some spider-like mechs in the BT line, but those would be 6mm. Did Heavy Gear have anything similar that might pass in 15mm?

Ground zero have a selection of 4 and 8 legged walkers (assuming you haven't seen them already that is…)

Favorites with the VSF crowd (e.g. me) are the tarantulas from Wild Wild West. I like the Burger King toys with the stack and Loveless removed, body inverted, four or six legs.

Call the rivets sensors or shield emitters.

The main toy would be useful for the legs, but you'd have to bash a body. Also, would be monstrous in 15mm.

The Haqqislam faction for Infinity has some spider drones. They are 28mm, so I guess they would be large tanks in 15mm :)

Also, totally not influenced by Ghost In The Shell.

I use the pre-painted Star Wars ones:

If you are buying them be aware that there are actually two sizes.

Look for some MAK Gradiators, they would be great (but maybe a bit expensive now)

flintlocklaser22 Mar 2012 8:13 a.m. PST

elsyrsyn, you're right, Heavy Gear has a couple of options.

First is my favorite, the Fire Dragon walker (this one by Steel Paladin from the dp9 forums):

picture

And if that's too big and non-bug-like, they have an entire faction that uses spidery walker things, the Capricians:

Hope that helps!

The AT-43 one is pretty cool

There's also the Ramshackle games spider tank. It might not fit your needs, and it is technically 28mm, but that just makes it whonking huge, right?

Anyway, it'sa nice looking fig, and something that has been on my to get list for a long time for VSF. I was thinking French, for some reason.

Hi Samulus!

First thing that occurred to me was MaK Gladiators also:

link

That's a 1/35 model with a 28mm crewman, so BIG for 15mm. There are plentiful 1/20 versions on ebay for about $25. USD

The RAFM spiders are cool:

picture

These 1/35 "not Ma.K." models are cool and only $15 USD:

And this one!

Lots of choices – have fun and let us know what you go for!

I use these. They are"1/72" scale but are bigger than a GW Leman Russ. I switch out the guns with Tau Hammerhead weapons.

Ravenstar makes several crab tanks/drones.

Here's one of the boxy models painted: TMP link

Wow, a great range of resources, knew I could rely on you guys!

I'm currently thinking either the RAFM one, one of the star wars toys or the 'not MAK'. Maybe all three? :)

Also, the dictator is awesome and one day I shall get one, but for the moment its a bit big.

I really like the Ravenstar walker. Now it comes with options to replace the missiles on the back with artillery cannons.

He also makes a few different drone like walkers
It's behind the Red Eagle for scale

I particularly like the RAFM spider droids. They are "Enforcers." Ten bucks a throw, or you can get a three-pack plus that flying drone for about $30 USD shipped from various sources (Enforcer Drones boxed set).

flintlocklaser22 Mar 2012 9:51 p.m. PST

Thornhammer, I don't know about the OP, but I just ordered one of those Enforcer drone box sets you mentioned. Very nice! Thanks for the pointer!

LordNth, where are those grey mechs from?

BlackWidowPilot Fezian25 May 2012 1:12 p.m. PST

Here's another candidate for your consideration, scaled for 1/72 (20mm) figures:

I've one painted up with some 15mm figures for scale in my online album:

It's kind of expensive and I think it ships from italy but Mirliton has the old grenadier Spidermech droid.

It's 8.33 Euros before shipping.

Don't forget Comfy Chair Games' SpiderBots, either, designed by the always-brilliant John Bear Ross.

That huge Starwars Crab Droid is $5 USD at miniaturemarket.

They also have the Red Block Dotch Yaga (4-legged) for $20. USD

The Therian Baal Golgoth can be had for $25 USD or so on E-bay.

"LordNth, where are those grey mechs from?"

The one on the left is Gruntz Imperator mecha from Critical Mass Games

The next one is a Banshee Assault Mech from Battletech but I don't know who makes that particular figure. I found a similar picture from Lord Nth on a forum that says that it was made by Elfbait.

To the right of that is the Red Faction 15mm tank kit from Khurusan minatures.

Fudge the scale on the Dropzone Commander minis when they come out?

I don't know what one could use the Ramshackle Huntsman Spider for, considering mine turned out almost a foot wide and now needs a base to survive, but if you have a BIG table, possibly.

palaeoemrus30 May 2012 12:34 p.m. PST

I hope you all realize that the Ramshackle Huntsman Spider tank is completely worthless without a Will Smith figure.
