Looking over all the 15mm miniatures that are released or are planned for release it is hard to say there isn't a lot of variety within the scale. However all the time I sit around thinking how much I would love to see the existing ranges expanded with more options for equipment or support, and figured that I can't be the only one.

Personally I'd love to see:

* More special weapons for the already existing ranges. I feel that a lot of sci-fi weapons aren't represented such as futuristic explosives, plasma weapons, or breaching weapons such as shotguns.

* The Rebel Minis Earth Force Magistrates to get a full line with support and special weapons.

* More aircraft for the scale, in general. Their is a massive lack in 1/100 and 15mm aircraft at the moment, and it would be really nice to see some new stuff pop up.

So on that note, I'm curious as to what things you guys are hopeful to one day see come into production, you can be as vague or specific as you'd like.

Define "Aircraft".

How does one model explosives? Honest a figure carrying a case?

What does a Plasma weapon look like? In fact on this topic what does a "plasma" do? To me Plasma weapons are just high tech flame throwers…..

As for expanding existing lines, I really would like a wider selection of irregulars both human and alien…

LordNth04 Feb 2012 5:44 a.m. PST

I would like to see more scale models that blend the function of jet planes and VTOLs. If only to give it a near future feel. While the military has been doing that for a while, the Osprey is old news and looks dated. But Sci-Fi just screams blended function like the craft from the Final Fantasy movie or the Hind/A-10 kitbash.

I would like to see more like than and less like the dropships from Starship Troopers. Not saying those don't have their place, just saying we already have a few of those to choose from.

Barks104 Feb 2012 7:12 a.m. PST

I'd like to see more figure variety- because I'm greedy and I don't care for manufacturer's viability. I'd like to be able to place a platoon on the ground with different command figures and heavy weapons in each squad and HQ/ support units. I hold off getting some great figures because I don't want to have three or four identical squads on the tabletop.

I'm a sucker for 'not-' figures as well. Not-'anything', really.

Dragon Gunner04 Feb 2012 9:45 a.m. PST

Top of my list…

1. MAWP with flamethrower

2. Flamethrower Tank

3. Missile Tank (Equipped with racks of ATGMS and rocket pods.)

4. CEV attachments

5. Scifi ZSU-23-4

6. Mutant Zombies (Left 4 Dead / Resident Evil)

7. Orbital Defense Laser Tower (similar to the game Ogre / Gev/ Shockwave)

8. Khurasan Space Demon with thick carapace on steroids (AKA Queens Guard)

I have to hand it to the 15 mm producers it seems everyday there are new releases and my dream sheet is getting smaller.

Just about any expansion to an existing range I collect will be purchased!

Dragon Gunner04 Feb 2012 10:40 a.m. PST

And "not" Zerglings.

If we are talking about wishes, please let me wish:

Alien civilians:
Set 1 Family: 2x mum, 2x grandpa, 2x child;
Set 2 Street: 2x trader with wide opened hands to customize, 2x technician with some unspecified gizmo and 2x worker handling some stick/hammer/pipe/shovel/pickaxe as open to customization as possible)
from existing popular ranges (for me: Felids, Garns, Crusties and CMG Naga). Alien civilians due to easy customization (different painting, adding GS bag to mum, adding GS hat to grandpa to make him wizard/governor) could be sold in 3-4 pieces per pose, to lower cost of civilians mob.

Alien irregulars/rebels/gangsters from existing popular ranges: Felids, Garns, CMG Naga.

Alien and human ranges GZG UNSC, CMG Recon, Oddzial Osmy NVL) vehicle crew (half-bodies).

From GZG – Heavy (poweramorured) UNSC infantry, more Alien Mercs.

From Khurasan – more Felids and regular Space Demons (four more poses would be great).

From CMG – more Naga, Ygs, Astaghar, Zas.

From Rebel Miniatures – SAWs for Titan Marines and expanding their range of catholic priests for Tomorrows War Order of St Maurice.

From Laserburn – more Asgard MSM2X Saurian (if anyone could customize them, I would buy a lot)

From Oddzial Osmy – more NVL and SpaceWorms.

From ArtCrime – way of lowering the price of their great Valkieries (by founding cheaper pewter)

Form Mad Robot Miniatures – more Harook

From Pole Bitwy – resurrection and more aliens

From Blue Moon – expanding Orion Republic Heavy Infantry and Betelguasans.

From Battlestaions – more different poses of Canosians Marines, esp with heavy weapons.

Re: Tanks and Guns – I am sure everybody will put new great stuff. Just one note: I wish Critical Mass Games create Protolene Tamaska/Fenrir with feline/tigroid head, suitable for our beloved Felids.

* More special weapons for the already existing ranges. I feel that a lot of sci-fi weapons aren't represented such as futuristic explosives, plasma weapons, or breaching weapons such as shotguns.

I concur.

Mako1104 Feb 2012 1:30 p.m. PST

SHADO Moonbase, SHADO HQ, Skydiver, SHADO Security and Mobile crews/personnel. Moonhopper astronauts. Aliens, and civvies in "modern" dress, of course too.

GZG UNSC Hardsuits in new poses, like has been done for the other ranges.

Blue Moon – more Orion trooper poses – a lot more.

John Treadaway04 Feb 2012 2:12 p.m. PST

Mako

The ex Product Enterprises Skydiver/Sky1 is about bang on for 15mm.

picture

(sorry I don't have a size comparrison but – believe me – it's very good at about 300mm front to back)

Just the Sky1 looks like this:

picture

I agree about the moonbase – entered into negotiations with Old Crow about 2 years ago to fit in with the 15mm Konami interceptors

picture

Smaller one of the two: bigger one is the 28mm ex Product Enterprises item.

A crew to go with these 15mm Konami Mobiles would be fab

picture

And aliens and (of course) women in silver suits and purple wigs are mandatory on the requirement list.

Define "Aircraft".

Exactly what I'm going to assume most people image when they hear the word "aircraft", specifically an vehicle capable of at least atmospheric travel. In a scifi setting it would also be very likely that said fighters might also have limited flight capability in space, though this becomes
irrelevant for anything other than model design I suppose.

How does one model explosives? Honest a figure carrying a case?

Give them packs of C4 or futuristic trip mines. Maybe arm them with grenade launchers, ramjet rifles, etc.

I suppose if you want a visual aid of futuristic explosives there is Beltway and his trip mines from Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City:

What does a Plasma weapon look like? In fact on this topic what does a "plasma" do? To me Plasma weapons are just high tech flame throwers…

I'm not exactly sure what made you so cross about my post but you know exactly what I mean by plasma weapons. Yes, I do realize that plasma doesn't behave anything near like what it is shown to in scifi settings since it is a non cohesive state of matter where its particles are just going to immediately spread out after leaving its container. It's not necessarily impossible though if the plasma is directed via magnetic fields, and even if you want to point out the finickiness of that then my answer is, "it's sci-fi, get over it."

As for an example I really liked the design of the plasma gun in Doom 3:

GypsyComet04 Feb 2012 3:17 p.m. PST

Recalling this TMP link for a start.

Tall Greys in a variety of gear. Think GW's Tau, Star*Drive's Fraal, and Star Wars Duros (all of which are Greys to some extent).

While we're on the topic of aliens, something large and furry with technology would be nice, too. Think Star*Drive's Weren or Star Wars' Wookie. Yes, I know the Weren are already not-Wookies. It's the class of alien I'm looking for, not specifics.

Mako1104 Feb 2012 3:32 p.m. PST

Yep, I concur, on the UFO/SHADO stuff.

I'd love to see the figs done in both 15mm and 25mm/28mm as well, to match both ranges of minis and models.

infojunky04 Feb 2012 8:18 p.m. PST

Junkotron9000 Not cross, just honestly pondering what y'all mean.

I even opened another thread to ponder the width and breath of the definition of "Aircraft". From there I see what falls in my definition doesn't fall into everyone else's.

It's more about trying to discover the "Look" of the thing….

And with the raging insomnia I have been inflicted with recently the struggle to be coherent might be confused with cross… If so I beg your indulgence.

WillieB05 Feb 2012 6:04 a.m. PST

There is so much coming out that I almost feel ashamed to ask for even more.
So what this list means is that I like the figures so much I simply want more of them.

GZG: Anxiously awaiting what they will bring out for TW, and hoping Jon doesn't forget the 15mm NSL troops.
Influenced by the great illustrations in TW: some new Japanese troops please.

Critical Mass Games: One or two extra packs for the ARC Fleet troops. Preferably heavy(ier) ATGM and HMG teams.Perhaps flamethrowers/plasma gunners/demo specialists to use as combat engineers?

Build up those wonderful Astagar snake- men into a separate army. Seems like there's already quite a bit underway.

Oh, and the ZAS troops as well! Greedy? Me? Nahh…

Khurasan:Is currently producing figures faster than I can dream them up. They all look good. I'm awaiting my first order, and in the meantime they have brought out so much I also want/need, I'm afraid to ask for anything.

Oh well, if I must. Oriental looking troops. Perhaps something based on contemporary Chinese?

CorSec: Just keep doing what you do.

The Scene: more of those great accessories and civilian types, Mike. Those body bags were pure genius.

Rebel minis: Expand all ranges with a extra pack(or two) and especially the dwarfs/squats.

(Major Disaster)05 Feb 2012 10:57 a.m. PST

A large DROPSHIP! My kingdom for a large DROPSHIP!

Plus more MECHA! Human and Alien designs please!

Cheers,
Spartan 117

infojunky05 Feb 2012 1:57 p.m. PST

I don't know there Spartan what does your kingdom look like?

Farstar05 Feb 2012 6:28 p.m. PST

Also, define "large". Platoon? Tank squadron? Lance of mechs? Two lances?

Airframe? Giant egg?

For the latter, keep an eye on the craft and cheapo stores for Easter stuff. Occasionally someone produces plastic eggs big enough for a couple pounds of candy each. Work up some legs and give the surface a nice aztech finish, and get on with the conquering.

El Wombato06 Feb 2012 3:31 a.m. PST

Power Armor. The only really good looking set is Khurasan's and thats being used by my main opponent.

Wolfprophet06 Feb 2012 4:53 a.m. PST

"As for expanding existing lines, I really would like a wider selection of irregulars both human and alien…"

I second this and add a desire to see more command and support packs from Rebel Minis. Also would like to see them add some of those backpack belt fed autocannons to the homeguard that their marines get…. I hate the flamethrower they did instead.

deviantsaint06 Feb 2012 8:20 a.m. PST

How about a female army? Not females in power armour but something more female…..Kinda like a more heavily armoured version of Rebels Black Widows. Sexy but dreadly.

Longstrider06 Feb 2012 9:52 a.m. PST

More Sons of Thunder from Rebel Minis. Some tripod mounted guns and a command pack would be lovely, they're a great little range.

I was going to say Khurasan Karks, but they're slated for production, so that one's filled. More Felids would be excellent too. More than that though, I'd like to see sort of a platoon pack for the Feds. Maybe even a combi-deal, where you get a platoon of Feds and Neo-Sovs, so that you can crush the Faceless Fascists with the People's Heroes.

More New GZG stuff. I really like the UNSC (L) look, and would like to see how that might translate into armoured and power armoured looks.

I'd never say no to more Micropanzer SAS; those are some of my favourite human figures in 15mm sci-fi. Getting their Soviet-esque power armour figures in 15mm would be great as well.

I'd also like to see more along the lines of NVL – near-future/sci-fi versions of stuff aside from Americans, Commies, Nazis, or Arabs in SPAAAAACE. Poles in Space were a really cool idea, and I'd like to see someone give similar treatment to Brazilians, Indians, South Africans, and the like. I know that's a terribly vague design brief – after all; you can picture the NVL or Neo-Sovs as pretty much any power in SPAAAACE, but… I don't know. It feels like a gap could be filled.

Tomorrow's War has some great artwork in it, and one thing I'd love to see is an infantry force with helmets like the illustration on p.151 of Tomorrow's War – a single monocular lens, maybe with some smaller lenses and an antenna or something. Something sort of similar to GW's Tau helmets.

AVAMANGO07 Feb 2012 12:17 a.m. PST

To be honest i have more than enough miniatures and terrain projects on the go to keep me busy for the next couple of years so im pretty content at the moment. What i am looking forward to seeing is the new and huge Empress Alien from Khurasan miniatures and hopefully someone will produce some new generic jet bikes with a good sellection of seperate riders and possibly some passengers too…

Lion in the Stars07 Feb 2012 12:52 a.m. PST

still waiting for the doe gunship and the exterminators apc.

Those.

Barks109 Feb 2012 10:09 a.m. PST

Oh, and 15mm Ghost Rangers for Ganesha's upcoming rules…

khurasanminiatures10 Feb 2012 5:36 p.m. PST

Arabs in SPAAAAACE.

Actually Terry has my RPK (Raathist Party of Kym) models, which are neo-Arab headswaps for Nova Respublik, and is painting them now. And I have the production castings so as soon as they are painted they will be released.

Little Big Wars10 Feb 2012 6:32 p.m. PST

More PAs, especially with shoulder-mounted weapons (railguns please?).

blackfang13 Feb 2012 4:01 a.m. PST

What I'd like is for 15mm companies to stop teasing me with cool models that aren't going to be out for months or even years.

I'm new to 15mm and so far my experience largely consists of browsing through old blog posts on Dropship Horizon and the like, seeing cool previews and finding out they're still not for sale.

Khurasan seems to be the main offender here but Art Crime holds the record with a 3d print of a tank previewed over a year ago that still isn't out.

alien BLOODY HELL surfer13 Feb 2012 8:35 a.m. PST

more time and money to be able to buy all the new shiney 15mm stuff, and then try and paint it :-)
