Just wondering . . . Has anyone ever thrown dinosaurs and gladiators into the same arena? Dan PS. I don't even know where such a thing would be posted! |

I don't even know where such a thing would be posted! I see a new board poll coming down the track. |

Rebel Minis supplies the Gladiators. Khurasan has some good looking dinos. :) Make it happen! |

Cowboys and aliens sure, but dinosaurs and gladiators is just plain silly! |

ElaineP, Wow! I had never seen that before. Cool. Thanks, Dan |

CavCrazy: "Cowboys and aliens sure, but dinosaurs and gladiators is just plain silly!" You might not like this documented case of Dinos in the ACW then:

You can find gladiators at Rebel Minis and dinos from Irregular Miniatures, Khurasan Miniatures :) |

Ridiculous. Makes no sense at all! |

If you'll accept archosaurs instead of dinosaurs, then the Romans really did it – of course you have to know that crocodiles are one type of archosaur. Either a flooded arena Egyptian themed naval battle or an Egyptian hunt with hippo's and other Africans. |

Ridiculous. Makes no sense at all! ========== That's why it's so great :D |
Space Aardvark | 15 Dec 2011 3:26 a.m. PST |
I can see it in a Science Fantasy world, with the Gladiators being Martian prisoners, and by some quirk of evolution the Dinosaurs on that world survived on say one continent. |
Cacique Caribe | 15 Dec 2011 4:11 a.m. PST |
This is the closest thing I can find: link link And it's not armed gladiators vs dinosaurs either. Dan |
sharkbait | 15 Dec 2011 5:15 a.m. PST |
Cool idea. There was someone from the THW Yahoo group, I think, that had a Romans vs Zombies campaign. A Romans vs. Space Demons/Dinosaurs/? would be pretty cool too. Rebel Minis also has Romans, plus Khurasan has the dinos plus a bunch of historical minis. |

Outpost Wargames do some great 15mm gladiators
link I think it's a great idea, and easy to fit into a pulpish scifi setting. |

what brave man strapped the armour on the theropod? |

Just remembered
Poundland, our local discount store, recently had a semi robotic T-Rex and Triceratops. They looked like Borged dinosaurs. I got some for my little boy who loves dinos and robots. They were possibly in scale with 15mm, though maybe a little to large. I'll try and grab them when he's not watching, take a piccy, and post it here. |

Gladiators would stand little chance against most dinosaurs, and no chance at all against
gasosaurus! |

Big beasts – No Raptors vs Retiarius – yes and the humans won most of the time when 1:1 – lost when they where hunted in packs. Surprised no one has done it here! (Rules where Rudis and Dinos big cats rules) |
Madmike1 | 15 Dec 2011 8:14 p.m. PST |
Stupid idea, everyone knows the last Dinosaurs died out decades before gladiators became popular. |
Patrice | 16 Dec 2011 6:25 a.m. PST |
If you can spend some time to teach the dinos to raise a paw and say: "Ave Caesar, Jurassic Park Te Salutant". |

CC: Nice photos, Dan. Are those in your personal collection? On another note, maybe we can get a game together the next couple of weeks – I'll be off. |
Rubber Suit Theatre | 16 Dec 2011 12:30 p.m. PST |
Getting the armor on the theropod is easy – "Chompius Maximus" there has a thing for salted herring (who knew?). Just distract him with a barrel or twelve and you can do just about any normal theropod grooming task short of working on his teeth (ask "Lefty" about that last bit). |
Watchtower78 | 16 Dec 2011 12:32 p.m. PST |
Rubber suit your name gave me another idea for suiting up the dino. You could have some chap dress up as a female saurus and entice the dino into the holder wherein he is fastened and festooned with armor and bedecked with accouterments. |

This is such a good idea I'll be adding it to Venus. We don't have dinosaurs but there are a number of scary big critters that will fit the bill. Again if anyone is interested in joining the discussions in the Hive, Queen and Country universe please feel free to join up! link |
