Manufactured by Mercanto-Dett Military Solutions in New Australia, the prefab Kilo Outpost is put to work on thousands of worlds along wartorn border zones, in areas infested with entomalomorphs, or in areas contested by insurgency movements. This prefab fortification is made up of wall lengths, a gate section, and corner bastions armed with twin pulse cannones manned by the garrison inside the armoured bastion compartment.
This is the starter set, which contains four corner bastions, four twin cannon turrets, ten wall sections and a gate set. An expansion set made up of four wall sections will be available separately so that you can make the ramparts longer There will also be sentry turret pillars -- the twin pulse cannon turret mounted on a small pillar, which are commonly mounted outside the perimeter of the fort to take down as many onrushing entomalomorphs as possible before they hit the walls. Generally two are also mounted on either side of the gate to bolster protection at this one vulnerable spot. Kilo Outpost will retail for $39.99 USD It was designed by the great John Bear Ross and this was painted by Martin of "Fire Broadside." It looks like Martin did not glue the pieces together -- they interlock and even when not glued you can see that they fit together fairly well. Martin has his Control Battalion riflething mounted on a large plastic base, but figures mounted on coins will look lower in relation to the walls and when standing on the ramparts. This set was contract cast by JTFM Enterprises of a very dense resin which needs to be primed with model primer or auto body primer (the cheaper alternative) -- unlike other resins this stuff is so dense it does not take acrylics without the primer coat. This will go up for sale as soon as Martin paints the turret pillars. Stay tuned! |

And there I was contemplating how to sci fi up my FoW fort. Nice stuff there, very nice. |

Looks very nice! It should provide the Federal Army (or Mobile Infantry or
) a nice fort for protection from Space Demons/Bugs/Arachnids/etc. |

I suppose there will be extensions available later? Same as John Lacour I'd like it a little larger. Definitely not a criticism as I like it a lot! |

I am so glad I got into 15 mm I can't wait. Could you imagine what that would have cost in 28mm? |

Looks great, and just as important it is at a very reasonable price. Keep up the wonderful work! |

One would hope the insurgents don't have mortars. |

Twilight Samurai wrote: One would hope the insurgents don't have mortars. Science Fiction bad guys don't have mortars. Just think of Rorkes Drift to understand their tactics. I hate that silly movie (NOT Zulu). Mobile Infantry! Hah! Not very mobile infantry you mean. Fort Zinderneuf or Rorkes Drift is the wave of the future. Sorry, don't mind me It's a very nice terrain piece at an excellent price. |

Awesome product as ever! This is a solid piece and I can see one residing in the center of my starport as an "authority" stronge point. the sentry gun pillars should also be great for adding armaments to other structures and to give a uniformity to the defenses of any setting. -Eli |

"Fantastic! The Starship Troopers crowd is going to buy three or four of these at a time." Why stop there?! :) A fort can never be too big and it can be populated with some of the barracks n' such CMG put out for their Arc Fleet stuff. Looks great as a Prefab fire base too. Though, will the sentry turrets pillars be available separately later as well? Can't have too many perimeter defenses either |
khurasanminiatures | 27 Nov 2011 1:02 p.m. PST |
Wolfprophet, the turret pillars will be available separately, that's how they will be sold. Twilight Samurai, insurgents can fire mortars into the perimeter of government forces now as well, but it is risky even in this day and age. YouTube link Bound to be at least as risky in a higher tech background. |

"Bound to be at least as risky in a higher tech background." Yup. Technology is a great equalizer; for every knight in armour on horseback, there's always a peasant with an arbalest or arquebus taking aim at the knight

looks more like 6mm then 15mm |
khurasanminiatures | 27 Nov 2011 10:23 p.m. PST |
Think 6mm might have a bit of trouble shooting over the palisade. If you want it to be bigger, it can be bigger. As I originally said, it's the starter set. |

Hmm I so want to surround this with our new barrier fence. TMP link Now all I need is to convince myself that I need it so I can setup a giant bug attack on a base with this in the center and an outer barrier fence. Kinda like the scifi version of a keep. |

Sigh, another order coming up
. Jon releases more goodness. I send off my hard earned cash for his lovely figures. Said goodies promptly arrive in the mail. Repeat ad infinitum
.. Anyone else find this familiar? |
Wartopia | 28 Nov 2011 6:34 a.m. PST |
I would like to see deeper platforms for troop stands. I use FoW small bases with 2-3 figures per base. Looks like they won't fit on those platforms. |
alien BLOODY HELL surfer | 28 Nov 2011 6:52 a.m. PST |
Nice – would definitely need the expansion set otherwise it looks too small to be of use. |
(I make fun of others) | 28 Nov 2011 7:51 a.m. PST |
Looks like John Ross did a good job on these. It's small but even that beginner set could be big enough to be dotted across a landscape overrun by bugs -- I'd rather be in there than in trenches or foxholes! |
