A Good-Looking Army in a Reasonable Amount of Time

Painting a wargaming army is a completely different beast from painting a single miniature for display.

Oh, my… You complain about lack of communication and when it is pointed out to you that he is, in fact, communicating you still can't help but complain.

Some people just have some strange hatred of facebook

Charlie 1207 Jan 2013 3:23 a.m. PST

Some (a lot) of businesses have a less than glowing opinion of Facebook. Especially after being oversold on how it would gloriously increase sales. Not just me (personnally, I'm neutral on the thing and could care less..).

Spreewaldgurken07 Jan 2013 7:12 a.m. PST

I confess that Facebook creeps me out a bit.

I've never been on Facebook, yet I get emails from them all the time, inviting me to join because "Look who's on Facebook," and it's a list of people from my life, that even I wouldn't think to compose: an old friend I haven't talked to in 20 years, a college girlfriend, somebody I sold a car to in 2002, a student I taught in the 1990s….

The level of thought and effort required to create software that would compile that list, is actually pretty offensive to me.

Everybody wails and moans about how they're afraid of "Big Government" taking over their lives and telling them what to do…. and meanwhile they're happily plugging themselves into a Big Business that is very actively seeking access to their personal data, for profit, in an effort to channel and monitor all of their interactions and communications.

I'm not lying awake at night, paranoid about it. I just choose not to reward that sort of intrusion.

I looked at G&h on face book. Where are the 10 MM CW fifures. All I saw was a ad for board game and preofer for 15MM figures?

Paragonicnova01 Feb 2013 5:47 p.m. PST

Hmm apparently they are making 15mm plastic ACW

Methinks they retooled whatever plastic sprue whatever they used for 10mm?

Pre paints comign Feb

According another thread, G&H ran into problems with the prepainted 10mm (their supplier jacked up their prices). So they're out of production for now. The 15s do look nice, though.

I confess that Facebook creeps me out a bit.

That and everything else you said is spot on. I lived through the late 60s and 70s when young people protested for their privacy. Now young people are more than willing to put their entire lives on facebook. The last thing I need is some old girlfriend contacting me.

I know for a fact that any potential employer will check out your facebook page. Safer just not to have one. What I really hate is that you have to join and have start your own page to get full access. If I ran a business the only thing I would put on facebook is a link to my website.

I tried to start a facebook page for my pet but they don't allow that so I guess it's down to using a sock puppet. Facebook is just insidious. Hopefully just a fade that will go away in a few years.

By the way the picture of the AWI figs, I wasn't impressed at all. The bayonets and rifles look kind of strange and out of proportion. This is a great idea but 15mm and 25/28mm is the way to go. 10mm is just too much of an oddball scale to start with. But considering the website I don't think these guys have a clue. Your are better off buying from GAJO.

I like Face Book. It kept me in touch with my son while he was deployed to Afghanistan, and it also keeps me in touch with my relatives and friends across the country and around the world.

The key is to properly set your privacy functions. You do that, and you have no problems.

Judge Doug06 Feb 2013 1:52 p.m. PST

Strange, I get most of my company news from Facebook. It's easier to just check my custom feed for gaming companies every day or three and see all the new info and pics!

KTravlos07 Feb 2013 3:20 a.m. PST

I like facebook for the ease it gives me to keeping in touh with people across three continents and several countries. Yes I have posted far too much stuff on it. Simple, at some point I am going to nuke my current profile and start a new one.

Musketier07 Feb 2013 10:00 a.m. PST

Could any of you who are on Facebook please enlighten this poor Luddite: Is there any indication of the 10mm pre-painted range becoming available again – or being definitively withdrawn?
Thank you in advance for your kindness!

Tankboy197209 Feb 2013 7:07 a.m. PST

Very interesting thread this, not the product(s), i have no interest in them, but the comments.

IMHO, the post should just have been in the ACW section, as that would have saved 30 minutes of my life, (the time it has taken me to read it all!) car crash internet at it' very best.

Sounds like this young guy had a decent idea, produced some of the best packaging i have seen but ran out of steam.

I think the most interesting part of the whole thread was the posts from Old Glory and the resulting posts, i would regard as sharp practice his deal that was offered.

Royal Marine11 Feb 2013 10:25 p.m. PST

The 10mm ACW ranges are not dead, just being re-located stateside, Chinese suppliers became expensive. Although timescales unknown. 10mm AWI is on hold as a result.

15mm ACW range is new hard plastic with 1st boxes shipping 17 Feb 2013.

I found all this out on Facebook & TMP BTW!

Musketier14 Feb 2013 7:30 a.m. PST

Many thanks for the clarification RM!
I want to get playing "Longstreet" when it is released, but just don't have the time to paint two ACW forces along with everything else in the painting queue (hence, no time for FB either…), so the 10mm pre-painted seemed an obvious solution.
Fingers crossed then!

VonBurge15 Feb 2013 12:12 p.m. PST

So any images of the 15mm ACW stuff out there?

Lord Ashram16 Feb 2013 8:08 a.m. PST

Yeah, as mentioned by someone else I think there was a big, big issue with the Chinese manufacturer, so the whole kit and kaboodle is being moved. In the meantime he is doing a board game and the 15mm ACW plastics.

Also, keep in the mind the entire operation is being done by one guy who has a regular job, so I think he is doing pretty well all things considered:). Hardly a big company (or a two person company, even!)

Royal Marine17 Feb 2013 11:49 a.m. PST

… But I have a regular job and young family and have to paint my own figures! How am I supposed to run a successful hobby with all this on my plate? I think I'm doing really well too.

kabrank18 Feb 2013 3:02 a.m. PST

Ant pics of the 15mm hard plastic yet?

Royal Marine18 Feb 2013 4:15 a.m. PST

There are a few here: TMP link and in the FaceAche links, but not many.

afilter05 Jun 2013 8:38 p.m. PST

If anyone is still looking for the 10mm version I have listed all my extras in the marketplace. Total of 92 stands(over 500 figures).
