Just grabbed the last 2 of these at Target:

At $1.07 each, I just couldn't pass them up.

Very nice. I may have to look for a few of those. I love the gun shield with no gun.

Nice pick up

Wellspring31 Oct 2011 5:10 p.m. PST

Matchbox's Armored Response Vehicle (in many styles) is also excellent for 15mm.

Cacique Caribe31 Oct 2011 6:03 p.m. PST

Wellspring,

You are absolutely right:

Yup, I have a bunch of the ARV's painted up in camo! :)

Sweet! Gotta go look for a couple of these for my gangers. And yes, THANK YOU, Matchbox, for providing that nice shielded hard point for us to add the weapon of our choice. :-)

SirFjodin31 Oct 2011 6:30 p.m. PST

Any comapison photos with 15mm minis?

Rassilon31 Oct 2011 6:47 p.m. PST

Argh, is my linked photobucket photo not showing up above? All I see is the word 'picture'.

Micman Supporting Member of TMP31 Oct 2011 8:26 p.m. PST

Rassion, I am now not a happy camper….. Those ARV are perfect for so many things in 15mm, and you have some.

On a more serious note, I have not had any success in posting pictures either.

Wargamedownloads31 Oct 2011 8:40 p.m. PST

I thought they (SWAT) were a little big for 15mm. I had bought 3 at Walmart.

Battle Miniatures Emporium31 Oct 2011 8:59 p.m. PST

Cool find Danny.

The Matchbox "Armored Response Vehicle" is the perfect size for 15mm:

I'll see if I can take and post a comparison pic of the new SWAT Trucks I found at Target.

That top vehicle from Matchbox looks perfect for a Combat Battalion force, i really like the cupola with weapon mount and shield, a really cool find.

Eclipsing Binaries01 Nov 2011 2:10 a.m. PST

There's a few matchbox vehicles that are perfect for 15mm scifi/near future etc. The Armoured Responce vehicle is my favourite. I've done some cosmetic conversion work on a couple and they're great fun to work on (pics on my blog)…

Plus they open up with a fairly decent interior…

Have you guys seen this Matchbox Planet Scout?

Does it look like it could work for Post Apocalyptic 15mm?

Mooseworks801 Nov 2011 10:27 a.m. PST

Ok, I'm convinced. I'm in. Will have to search walmart and target now.

Scorpio01 Nov 2011 1:17 p.m. PST

Uh, according to that link, the Matchbox Planet Scout hasn't been in production for the past 32 years. Looks like it'd be a pain to get a hold of one, much less multiples.

AVAMANGO01 Nov 2011 3:21 p.m. PST

There seems to be a lot of interest in Matchbox/Hotwheels toys at the moment, did i miss something?

Cacique Caribe01 Nov 2011 4:43 p.m. PST

Sorry about all the threads on Matchbox/Hot Wheels.

Well, I've just re-connected with a die cast car collector friend of mine (who knows nothing about wargaming), and he showed me online all sorts of cars, trucks and other vehicles I had never seen before.

Just wanted to share some of the findings with you guys.

Dan

Cmde Perry01 Nov 2011 5:34 p.m. PST

No need to apologize, Dan. Ever since I saw the Pixar movie "Cars 2" I've wanted to get back into playing Car Wars or something similar. I recently bought the Hot Wheels "Attack Pack" for exactly that.

Keep the ideas coming!

clkeagle01 Nov 2011 7:39 p.m. PST

That planet scout goes for very high premiums on eBay… I tried for a few.

Chris K.

AVAMANGO01 Nov 2011 10:32 p.m. PST

No apologies are needed I was just curious, please keep the ideas coming…

John Treadaway02 Nov 2011 6:05 a.m. PST

Dan

excellent approach to a photograph through the clear ruler. Can simply everyone do that in future please!

The die casts are great. Any manufacturer that took one and, erm, took some inspirtion from it (especially if it was 32 years old) would be a good egg…

I wish I had a clear ruler and had taken that picture, but I'll take the credit for just finding the photo. :)

That fella does that with a handful of other cars/trucks in his collection, but not all.

What about these toys? Anybody got one of these?

Thornhammer02 Nov 2011 2:16 p.m. PST

Yes, those things are great for 28mm games. I have a couple of them.

Eclipsing Binaries03 Nov 2011 1:19 a.m. PST

28mm? So they're a bit big for 15mm then? Can't really tell from the pics.

Scorpio03 Nov 2011 5:29 a.m. PST

Uh, I think that 28mm above was a typo.

Lesack04 Nov 2011 12:02 p.m. PST

Thanks to this thread, I just picked up 5 Armed Response Vehicles on ebay!

Now I need to ponder whether or not to paint over the Superfriends.

Dropzonetoe Fezian04 Nov 2011 2:14 p.m. PST

I really want to like the armored response vehicles in 15mm and a number of guys have painted them really nice but I had them as a child and just cannot get past the "toy" part on them. Funny that I could use other matchbox cars to fill the same role and have no problem. Odd feeling and I don't know why I have it about them.

Stepman304 Nov 2011 3:57 p.m. PST

Just picked up 2 of the SWAT trucks for myself…They are going to be support for my near future British Poice force…(Working on fluff for TW)

MKGipson04 Nov 2011 4:53 p.m. PST

I just bought 4 of the "Armored Response Vehicle" on E-bay. Thanks!

Thornhammer04 Nov 2011 5:06 p.m. PST

No, 28mm was not a typo. They are fairly big. I bought a couple after seeing them…I think it was on Matakishi's blog. I'm referring to the K111 Battle Kings vehicle linked in EB's post.

Rassilon07 Nov 2011 3:04 p.m. PST

Thanks Cacique Caribe!

My wife hit one Target, and I hit two others and we found 6 of them… Toys R Us didn't have them. :P :)
