"Dark Young by Alberto Martinez" Topic

I don't recall seeing this particular miniature of a Dark Young of Shub-Niggurath (possibly with the prefix faux, ref: Reaper's not-Lovecraftean minis):

It's been used here as a stand-in in a game of soon-to-be-released HPL-influenced horror mini game Carnivale but I can't make out from the Spanish text or the Googlenglish translation if it's from that game (just not set for imminent release) or from something entirely different:

El retoño oscuro lo moldeo Alberto Martinez exclusivamente para las fotografías, pero decidimos que podría ser una transformación de la figura de la aberración que todavía no ha salido

Does anyone have any more info? It seems nice enough in a revolting way albeit rather small – but I suppose the Dark Young need a healthy diet of human flesh to grow so it's not out of the question to have a wee one that's not eaten its fill yet (-;)

That's a very nice Dark Young but I don't recognize it…

According to my almost forgotten Spanish, it's a special piece sculpted by Alberto Martinez exclusively for the photos, but the staff may decide to convert the 'aberration' mini (not yet in sale) to produce something similar (?).
Let's hope so: it's a great Lovecraftian figurine indeed!

I got the impression the text said its being used as a proxy for something else (a Shoggoth maybe since it's a member of the Deep Ones warband) but I bow down to anyone who actually has any kind of knowledge of Spanish of course.

It's a bit of a shame if it's just something done for personal use. I would buy that \-:)

Looks like something to pan fry with oregano and serve with chips and a fried egg. Just kidding, I wouldn't want to waste the orggano…..

according to his posts over on LAF he sculpted it himself for use in the games, so it's not available anywhere.

As Jim says. The Carnevale guys were using it to playtest the rules for such large monsters in the new game. There are a couple more pictures of it on the forum along with a selection of shots of the playtest/demo table they are using.

If the 'buzz' on the web, in various forums (fora?) and discussion groups, suggests that it would sell well, they may decide to commercialize it.
There's a blog / forum of a kind on their site: if enough potential buyers manifest themselves there,they may win the decision.

Regardless of translation, it looks good to me…dark young are one of those perfectly Lovecraftian creatures…a paradox of animal elements, gibbering/biting mouthes, and in general I suspect a smell that would cause your hair to fall out, your skin to self flay, and turn your brown eyes goo.
