A new boxed game with miniatures: link Carnevale vesper-on.com "18th C. Venetian horror with Lovecract beasties! After a magical cataclysm that has changed Europe and the world as we know it, the city of Venice is under the effects of the Rent in the Sky. For the first time in history, magic is walking freely on its streets, ancient monsters have awakened from their submarine slumber and found their way towards the canals of this city, a decadent nobility has discovered new ways of depravity in senseless violence, and the citizens of Venice do the best they can to survive under the protection of the Guild of thieves." Seemingly a kind of 'Strange Aeons' set in Venice, conveniently during the Carnival. The minis seem to be of ca. 30mm size? link A few have 'general' potential
some are pleasantly original
Too bad some male figures wear hats corresponding to other periods ('3 Musketeers' slouched hat, Napoleonic bicorne, Victorian top hat
): it's Carnival time, but people are not supposed to dress up as time travelers! Then, it should not be too difficult to fix this 'mistake' by converting the hats to tricornes?
The video game 'Assassin Creed' offers some pleasant 'Venitian' carnival costumes YouTube link YouTube link specially the cute but lethal Hellequin
Hope the design team of 'Carnevale' will get such inspiration for additional minis |

Box game? I have not heard of this on any of the forums

I would hope this is very much Fantasy first and foremost, some horror and some history, but would certainly not want to "force" it into a specific or recognisable era. Given the costumes that are possible anything from Medieval to 19th Century is fair game. link

A quick search on Google images for " Venice Carnival Costume " will give more than a few ideas! There are hundreds of figures through Fantasy ranges from the likes of Reaper and Mag Egos, or the superb Cadwallon figures from Confrontation. This game has the potential to be a figure painters dream. Most of the Boutique game offerings are tending toward the depressing dark and bleak, this one could be an absolute explosion of colour. |

Btw, I read somewhere that the Confrontation range was to be resurrected? For those enjoying to paint embroideries, the traditional semi-18th C. costumes of Cavaleiros (and Cavaleiras) of the Tourada, the Portuguese mounted bull fighting, may also be inspirational:

Too bad if they don't commercialize the fittingly repulsive mini
one of the team sculpted only for playtesting the rules! linkTMP linkThere's a blog and a forum of a kind on their site: if enough potential buyers manifest themselves there, hopefully they may win the decision. vesper-on.com |

The sculpting of the Heroclix minis is not of such level, but it would be unnoticeable on a gaming board: so some of their 'Harley Quinn', rebased, the paint touched and maybe with some weapon conversion, could well appear here?

Converting other versions would provide diverse poses for the same (mysterious, of course) character.
A Zorro-type righter of wrongs or an Assassin -the judgement maybe a mere matter of personal prejudices? |

As a possible addition to the Carnevale range of figurines, a winning combination:

re TMP linkRemember: gaming figurines are not intended to be individually scrutinized under a magnifying glass, but to be seen from some distance: essential features are to be *emphasized*
