Survival horror is a very minis worthy genre and spans across many time periods making it a veyr accessible sub-genre of horror as well as science fiction, fantasy, moderns, etc..

I have seen suggestions for the "space cannibals" from Pandorum, various ghosts and apparitions from movies such as 13 Ghosts, Hellraiser, and video games like Silent Hill. There has also been call for mutated undead creatures such as those found in the Resident Evil franchise.

What sorts of figures, inspired by the movies and video games in this sub-genre, would you like to see?

jpattern217 Oct 2011 7:08 a.m. PST

I could go for a series of Cenobite minis.

krieghund17 Oct 2011 7:36 a.m. PST

Cenobites would be great. The usual suspects from Left 4 Dead and Res Evil would also be welcome, as would the Horde from Gears of War 3 and the Flood.

What about they zombies (?) from Ghosts of Mars or the critter from The Thing. Saying that how about Critters, Gremlins or the worms from Tremors.

And Nazi Zombies, obviously.

Goose66617 Oct 2011 7:44 a.m. PST

Flood! Def gets my vote for 28mm.

Resident evil – virus strain mutants, dogs etc would be good too again in 28mm.

Eli Arndt17 Oct 2011 8:13 a.m. PST

Good stuff. Keep them coming and be specific!

skippy000117 Oct 2011 8:19 a.m. PST

dumb, stupid victims, a la 'hollywood', the kind that made you glad the monster killed them.

Russian bears and wolves-three headed wolves and two headed bears.

Japanese Zombiekazes

Maniacal scientists(male and female)and their warped assistants

A not-Bloodrayne(from the game NOT the 'film'-shudder!)

A not-Half life series of creatures from another dimension.

Jeff W17 Oct 2011 8:19 a.m. PST

Maybe techno-zombies like the husks from Mass Effect?

link

I'm not much into horror, but I could see using these in more straight up sci fi games.

sharkbait17 Oct 2011 8:22 a.m. PST

I'll second Skippy0001's suggestion of non-Half Life creatures, and Goose666's Flood.

Plus Resident Evil monsters.

CmdrKiley17 Oct 2011 8:30 a.m. PST

Inbred mutant canibals from movies like Hills Have Eyes and Wrong Turn.

A shape shifting alien that takes the form of it's victims like from The Thing.

Giant Mutant Termite/Cockroach hybrids like from Mimic.

Alien hunter like from Predator.

Check out the card game "Grave Robbers from Outer Space" for ideas. A great card game and it has lots B-Movie Sci Fi/Horror stuff in it. There's all sorts of character types like the "Smart Little Brother", "Strange Drifter", "Nymphomaniac Cheerleader", "The Guy Who Always Dies First", etc.

GoGators17 Oct 2011 9:54 a.m. PST

If you do husks, don't forget Collectors!

richarDISNEY17 Oct 2011 10:05 a.m. PST

Space undead would be cool.

28mm modern people on the street walking and/or running.
28mm modern bodies and parts

Oddball17 Oct 2011 10:50 a.m. PST

28mm dead victims on the ground.

Some chewed up as I run zombie games. I'd love to have 20 or so just spread around the table.

28mmMan17 Oct 2011 11:01 a.m. PST

In 15mm I would consider tops and bottoms…waist up and hips down…a collection of 3-4 tops/bottoms to mix and match.

A variety of humanoid poses with a distinct lower pose to allow for a movement effect…getting ready to chase or in chase mode.

The overall look to be one of a wasted human…gaunt…basic weapons…lots of skin to allow for paint variations and thus more variety

picture

*****

In 28mm the same as above but with alternate arms and heads rather than the upper/lower swaps…a standard 3-4 bodies in different movement poses; a partial run, ready to leap, full turn/twist.

Dasher17 Oct 2011 11:08 a.m. PST

First, gotta be 28mm for me to consider them, since I have a 30+ year investment in complementary terrain and figs.

Second, would love to see Cthulhoid type creatures a la "The Wasted Land" app being developed by Red Wasp for the iPhone/iPad.

My dream would be a range from the "Wasteland" computer game series, one from the "Neuroshima Hex" RPG and board game, and a full set of figures for "The Hills Rise Wild!" miniatures game.

Cufflink17 Oct 2011 11:56 a.m. PST

I'd like to see a 28mm range of not-Dead Space. There are already minis to represent the ordinary colonists, but some figures in the various forms of 'rigs' (space suits), would be great. And of course, lots of necros. Possibly in plastic, so you could mix and match various body parts?

And what about Bio-Shock? Some Big Daddies and little Sisters, and lots of deformed loony humans.

Eli Arndt17 Oct 2011 12:22 p.m. PST

I too would really like to see "space cannibals". these are really versatile.

In addition to space cannibals they can be Warzone style space undead. they can be an alien race in their own right. Also, you could throw them into post-apocalyptic or even Resident Evil type survival horror stuff.

Cacique Caribe17 Oct 2011 12:36 p.m. PST

These in 15mm, please:

picture

The less clothing and armor, the scarier and wilder they look.

Here are some additional photos of those Pandorum ragers (in the film they are called "hunters"):

I was not familiar with the Wasted Land as Dasher noted, so I looked it up and now share

I think that for the hunters, ragers space cannibals, whatever you want to call them to really pop, the poses would have to be savage and dynamic.

Hildred Castaigne17 Oct 2011 2:15 p.m. PST

"I'd like to see a 28mm range of not-Dead Space."

Hear, hear! For figures that would work for both survival horror and sci-fi what could possibly be better than a survival horror with a sci-fi setting?

I think 'Event Horizon' is also worthy of a mention ( YouTube link ). For something so generic I've yet to see figures that look close to the ship's crew in the film, let alone a possessed Sam Neill!

Hildred Castaigne17 Oct 2011 3:33 p.m. PST

Oh, some not-S.T.A.R.S. (Resident Evil) would be fantastic to see in 28mm!

url=http://residentevil.wikia.com/index.php?title=Special_Tactics_And_Rescue_Service&image=STARS_GROUP_PIC-png]

Resident Evil was my first proper introduction to Resident Evil. So that game kind of defines the genre for me; more creatures than you've got bullets! haha

clkeagle17 Oct 2011 3:53 p.m. PST

I'll go against the grain and suggest the zombie-rager things from I Am Legend. Not-Firefly Reavers would also be most welcome.

The alien machine and capt-machine (Donald Sutherland as the actor iirc) in Virus.

We do some similar figures in our SPRU line, as well as zombies and civilians.

OldGrenadier Fezian18 Oct 2011 1:45 p.m. PST

How about some Highway Patrol types in 28mm? There are plenty of other cops, but the average state trooper seems sadly missing.

I'd like to see Old Glory release the Horror buildings they have in 28mm.

Scorpio19 Oct 2011 5:16 a.m. PST

As I mentioned in that other thread…
TMP link
I'd like to see a pack of special undead, like the variety in Left 4 Dead 2:

Hulking tank zombie.
Bloated blimp zombie.
Crawling creepy leaper zombie.
Tongue lasher mutated zombie.
Thin, emaciated zombie with big claws.
Legs-blown-off-but-dragging-itself-along half-zombie.

(I was talking 15s, but I'd want 'em in 28mm, because I am greedy like that.)

flicking wargamer19 Oct 2011 12:30 p.m. PST

Unarmed civilians running for their lives or cowering in horror. I want people from the earlier stages of the outbreak who have yet to figure out they need armament, or are too frightened or stupid to arm themselves.

Eli Arndt19 Oct 2011 12:40 p.m. PST

I think there is a distinct lack fo freaky humans. Not just mutated freaks but scraggly, drawn-faced or hnched, odd ducks.

Think cannibal hillbillies, grave robbers, stalkers, slashers, etc.

The Peacock Family members perhaps?
