Hi all, here are some paintup previews of the latest 15mm batches (though the robot can definitely work for 28mm too, and perhaps even 6mm). All will be released after the Nova Respublik sets, except for the Nova Respublik DL robots ("darling little robots," named after the Russian habit of giving diminutive female names out of fondness), which will come out right along with the Nova Respublik infantry.

First up we have the initial two codes of Thrainites, strong and stocky but rather short humanoid warriors, brusque of manner and with a serious attitude toward war.

The tank crew halves for the Thrainites (which are very cool) are also cast but have not been painted yet. They will fit into the MDMS vehicle hatches, as well as the Karkpanzers, those being the primary armoured vehicles the Thrainites employ because they are cheap, reliable -- and available.

Next, the herd grows -- more Lhurggs. Lhurggs greatly enjoy making loud noises with their throw-away blasters but their primary fighting weapon is the Huk Huk electric sword, a large electric-knife type weapon that they are exceptionally skilled in using, when properly motivated that is.

picture

Lhurggs also sometimes use their crude folding "spike mortar" in combat, these making an even more satisfying bang than the blasters. This code comes with two crewmen and two mortars -- the Spike Mortar is used as a one-lhurgg weapon, but some gamers may prefer to use two crewmen with each weapon.

Next up, Federal Army reinforcements. The M1997 smartmortar is capable of guiding a HE or AP charge straight to the target with the aid of the Gnat minidrone. The Gnat is also used to investigate enemy positions, when its small size, excellent remote handling and completely silent engine provide excellent stealth ability.

Also soon to be released is a Federal army medical diorama, with a male and female medic tending to an Army casualty. This we thought would make an excellent objective marker or a good element to add to the rear table edge -- perhaps 100 Parasachnids are boiling down on the medevac area and there are only ten ragtag Federal troopers posted there to defend it …

Finally, here's the DL (Darling Little) Direct Fire Support Robot with some Nova Respublik Pekhorty for scale. It comes with one head and three different weapons loads -- the organ rockets shown (the "Marka"), with twin 30mm autocannon ("Svetlana"), or with two rails, each holding four heavy anti-material missiles ("Olyusha").

Also available with be just the head piece, in case you want to make swappable weapons loans for one robot.

I didn't care for the way the castings of the reloader head ("Zhenia") came out so that will be delayed until I have the piece remade, but the main kit should be released on Monday with the Nova Respublik infantry sets and platoon pack. Thanks for looking!

Nice 15mm Squats there. Good to finally see some more nudist horse-goat-men, too.

Wow. Those Thrainites look mighty Squat!

:p ;) :p

… Oh god. More Lhurrg swinging their….uh…"Huk huks" around the battlefield. *Ahem*

Really really like the Federal stuff.

But I LOVE those Thrainites. :)

So, that means in this year…. We've been provided with excellent Eldar, Squat and Cadian Imperial Guard poxies.

Though! I must ask…. When will the Karks be getting some more love? they're such under-appreciated figures. I took a chance on a couple packs not long ago and now that I have them done, I think they look great. Would love to see one carrying a missile launcher like the Lampy scouts and perhaps a second set of rifle poses. That would pretty well finish them off. A sniper would be neat…but silly for them given the eye arrangement. I imagine they must already be pretty bad shots. Hah.

Karks are slated for more troopers, tank crew, mortar, etc, but that sculptor is making other stuff for me now. We will definitely get to it though.

I wonder how well the Thrainites scale up to Rebel Minis Sons of Thunder.

Look highly compatible. On one hand you have the more lightly armored troops and the other you have the guys in full Battle Armor with Jump Packs…
