It's been awhile since this has been discussed, and lots of new stuff has come out from various manufacturers, so what is on your 15mm Sci-Fi Want List that hasn't been produced yet? |
chuck05 | 16 Aug 2011 5:43 p.m. PST |
cheap plastic vehicles ala the Plastic Soldier Company. |
Sundance | 16 Aug 2011 5:44 p.m. PST |
About half of what GZG makes, plus various odds and ends from other manufacturers. I'd like a couple of different designs of Battletech style Mechs in 15mm, as well. |
Little Big Wars | 16 Aug 2011 5:56 p.m. PST |
I want Rifts in 15mm, but barring that there are a couple things that really spring to mind: *8-12ft tall Power Armor with shoulder-mounted weapons (especially Railguns) *Science fantasy figures with non-lightsaber melee weapons *More jetbikes *VOTOMS/Heavy Gear-style infantry walkers *Humans in Gundam/Macross/Space Battleship Yamato-style military uniforms |
pahoota | 16 Aug 2011 6:38 p.m. PST |
Beakie space marines. I'd sculpt them myself, except my first and only 15mm sculpt is still headless (and armless) and I started it in 2009. At this rate I'll have a beakie squad by 2036. It'd be faster to just throw money at the problem. |
Mako11 | 16 Aug 2011 6:40 p.m. PST |
I'd like to see some of these: link
link link They could also serve as personnel for various other genres, and locations as well, e.g. on a spaceship, another top secret base somewhere in the universe, etc. |

Darn it I dont want to start 15mm. How bout some really bizarre alien troops in 6mm or 15mm? If done in 15mm it could push me over the edge. |

*Science fantasy figures with non-lightsaber melee weapons I think that one bears a bit of explanation. Clarify, maybe with some examples? With you one the Rifts stuff in general (some great designs in the art for that game) but Kevin would just have a hissy fit and sue anyone who made anything close anyway. Darn it I dont want to start 15mm. How bout some really bizarre alien troops in 6mm or 15mm? If done in 15mm it could push me over the edge. Do tell. What qualifies as "really bizarre" for you? Personally, I'd like more guys in pressure suits. Not power armor, not armor that could be vacuum gear, pressure suits like the GZG ones. He's got the right idea with having multiple styles of them so you can reflect differeing tech levels easily, but more variety (especially on poses) would be good. What can I say? I like the idea of playing the First Moon War back in an alternate 1980s or 90s timeline. |

If someone did a nice line of SF3D inspired sculpts
infantry, power armor, Krote walkers, Jerry, etc
it would probably finally pull me into 15mm. |

I want Droids whole and parts
Torsos, chassises, arms and heads. Aliens all the wonderful ideas any one can come up with. The above in environment suits, plus humans also in environment suits Cyborgs, servitors, borg
Vehicles, civilian vehicles, and bits for vehicles. Plastic would be great. Plastic Building fittings, doors, windows etc

Sadly, there are far too few alien-looking aliens. There are even fewer decent android personal assistants. |

SF apes (hybrids), like these here, but with more futuristic weapons:

*Science fantasy figures with non-lightsaber melee weaponsI think that one bears a bit of explanation. Clarify, maybe with some examples? With you one the Rifts stuff in general (some great designs in the art for that game) but Kevin would just have a hissy fit and sue anyone who made anything close anyway. To clarify, I'd like some power/vibro weapons like those featured in 40K and Star Wars, but also arm blades, staff weapons, power gloves/claws. Some examples exist, but they're few and far between. CMG has the Kaamdos Dominion, many of which have these odd spikey attachments over their fists, the Protolenes have a subset of infantry equipped with power claws and pistols, and there's at least one Merc with armblades. One of the GZG Alien Mercenaries has a power glove, and of course their not-Jaffa have their staves. There's just not enough representation at this point. Yeah 15mm Rifts is a no go until Kevin stops being able to sue (and I he really does have a right to sue over figures, unlike adaptations of his material); good thing I got a couple dozen each of the not-Coalition Jetbikes and SAMAS from The Scene before they disappeared. I still think that manufacturers could have a go at the Rifts concepts without directly borrowing from the IP (20-30 foot tall robots and smaller flying and non-flying PAs bristling with firepower, cyborgs, weird creatures and mutants in the supernatural and non-supernatural vein, etc
). Rifts just blends everything supernatural horror, post-apocalyptic wasteland, high fantasy, and hi-tech into one beautiful (but tainted) masterpiece of a setting. It's science-fantasy with more post-apoc and no gothic. |

Apart from the usual complaint about proper infantry support weapons for ranges that currently include only riflemen (Starship Troopers!), I would like to see things that make sci-fi gaming more than just WW2 gaming with bigger guns and better armour! [the below apply to both human and alien ranges] So, localised, tactical air-power: in particular more drones and helicopter-equivalents. A few ground-attack aircraft too. Enhanced movement systems for infantry: jet packs, grav belts, jet bikes, sci-fi trucks and drop ships. Forget melee weapons: if they are close enough to see the whites of their eyes, you are in deep doo-doo! Defensive gear such as portable shield generators (a la Hydrissians). Scanning gear and other electronic warfare systems. The technicians and bodyguard defence units to man them. Could be mounted on vehicles. That's all for now! R |

Infantry with advanced weapons/armour that do not just resemble warmed over modern weapons/armour. Whilst there is a place for assault rifles and LAW weapons it would be nice to have more advanced systems [blasters and energy weapons etc] that look futuristic and not modified current. |

Not to totally derail the thread
@Litte Big Wars – Kevin needs to get off his but and do some sort of miniatures game for RIFTS. Am I the only one who thinks RIFTS would have been perfect for the collectible prepaint market? -Eli |

Want Star Wars type figures with light sabers or power swords. Want more R2-D2 and C3PO type robots |

The weapons images and troops I tried posting worked for a bit, but now can't seem to access them, can be found on the SHADO Yahoo Group, in the Photos section, in the Weapons file. They are very futuristic looking, for assault rifles, and one has a very stylish wooden foregrip and stock. |

A good range of cloaked, robed and smocked cultists/defenders of the universal balance – masked, clean shaven and bearded – with a variety of weapons. Also bits and bobs for dressing resin vehicles – pintle mounts, stowage, ERA, smoke mortars, etc (decent sized packs at a decent price – see the Old Glory CD range stowage pack 1 – probably the best £10.00 GBP I spent in a while). |

Conversion heads
. bare headed, gas-masked, helmeted in different styles, mutant, alien, near future, post apoc, goggles, bionics Choose your flavor. This alone would double or triple the use of existing figures out there. Imagine Rebel minis Shahadeen with gasmasks. or perhaps some Khurasan Orcs with mutant heads to make some morlocks. There are whole sets of 15mm that just have bobbleheads and I will never buy
but some replacement heads and boom useful to me. |

Felid civilians/techs. ;) Drones/robots (I know there are lots, but even more). In particular, legged but non-humanoid drones. Characters and NPCs. |

SF apes (hybrids), like these here, but with more futuristic weapons: There are already made by Pole Bitwy. TMP link From Khurasan Miniatures: I concur with Wellspring: we need more Felid and Garn civilians, technicians, workers, women, children, leaders, traders, workers, chaplains/wizards/seers and gansters/militiamen. From Critical Mass: as above but of Naga. Plus more soldier of Naga, Ygs and Astaghar. From GZG: Heavy (power armoured) Infantry UNSC |
Newtype | 20 Aug 2011 7:34 a.m. PST |
I would really like to see Non-Klingons! Release some and I'm the first to own a complete army. More Garn and Felids is a good point. Perhaps some Garn sub-species based on other dinosaur types (triceratops or ankylosaur). More power armour for everyone! |
