Back in my youth (20 years ago) I recall a friend having an army of "Pig Orcs". They were 25mm, square based, had "pig" like appearance, and were armed in a vast array of weapons! Any idea if they are still produce (if so where) or where I can find 2nd hand. Many thanks. |

The Minifig dwarves and goblins were available in the UK abot 10 years ago (i.e. 10 years after I got mine). Cannot remember from whom. They also did kobolds, gnolls, indeed they must have had the D&D licence. I have 3 of said orcs myself and always wanted more. |

Weren't pig orcs produced by Essex? I think I saw advertisments for them in White Dwarf about '86 or 87. All my old WDs are stacked in the back of the attic, and are quite unreachable. |

Minifigs did 'em, based on the old AD&D Monster Manual. Used to have a bunch around here, somewhere... |

I always loved the idea of pig orcs. Kind of tempted to sculpt some. |

Don't throw anything but microtactix makes paper minis that are pig orcs. www.microtactix.com |

There's a pic of a few of the Minifigs masters at The Stuff of Legends ( top right ) : link That was one of my favorite types of orcs for years, based on the line drawings in the old blue-cover D&D rulebook. |

Those are the same ones that I have. I think I got about 14 or so. |

Thanks for all your replies. Minifigs sounds familiar. The Minifig Masters at SOL look more like "A.L.F." rejects, the figs I remember had actual pig snouts (though my memory may be playing tricks with me!). |

They were definately minifigs in a D&D range. Cornelius is correct. |

Jake B, Those are not orcs on the web page but gnolls. They are from the same line by minifigs put out under the D&D World of Greyhawk name. I do belive that they were also released by minifigs later on under a generic fantasy range. I have orc, gnolls, hobgoblins, goblins and kobolds from this range that all look like the drawings from the original monster manual. Although they are not super detailed, they hold a special place in my gaming heart.

There were two "lines" the AD&D line and the Greyhawk line. Both were stylistically similar (i.e. pig orcs) but the sculpts were better on the AD&D line IMO. I have figures from both. Talk to Tom Dye at Minifigs USA. I'm not sure of the status of these figures with respect to licensing and IP but he would be able to tell you. Another good source is the Digital Dragon. He has some of the Greyhawk line, but it will cost you. |

I don't know about the older miniatures mentioned, but have you seen these from Otherworld Miniatures? link Real "old school" D&D/AD&D. I think they're lovely. |
