I'm a bit frustrated, I wish to advertise on TMP but I'm not able to get in touch with Mr. Editor.
I've tried all the possible ways since two month, could anyone help me, please?
As TESTUDO MINIATURES g-rava.it we'll attend SALUTE 2011, and I'm in a hurry to advertise that.

Thanks.

What have you tried so far?
Have you been here:
TMP link

As TESTUDO MINIATURES g-rava.it we'll attend SALUTE 2011, and I'm in a hurry to advertise that.

I guess you just did?

TESTUDO11 Feb 2011 4:45 a.m. PST

Thanks Margard, but I've tried everything.
I've already sent the banner.
I posted here hoping the Editor would see this thread.

About Salute, we did it where? not on TMP, or I'm not aware of that.

In this thread!

TESTUDO11 Feb 2011 5:04 a.m. PST

Ah, Margard, you're joking, is'nt it?

Or you're not skilled in advertising, to say the least!

TESTUDO11 Feb 2011 5:08 a.m. PST

I want to PAY for advertise in a serious way, and I'm trying to do so.

WeeSparky11 Feb 2011 5:26 a.m. PST

Have you tried swearing or attacking another TMP member with insults? Religious or Political thread topics will also work to get you noticed.

"Have you tried swearing or attacking another TMP member with insults?"

Yes, excessive profanity often works quite well in getting Bills attention. Sadly it may also result in your account being locked.

I did'nt remember that forum was so full of humorous people, very funny indeed.

It helps to remember that – it may make your day easier.

But do I see a "Rava" there – are you the artist of many a fine historical print that sit so nicely on many of my 1/72 boxes?

If so – superb and thank you

TESTUDO11 Feb 2011 6:15 a.m. PST

But do I see a "Rava" there – are you the artist of many a fine historical print that sit so nicely on many of my 1/72 boxes?

I wish to thankyou for your kind words, but i fear to be sued for subliminal advertising.
So, for this time only: "I' M NOT THAT RAVA !"wink

MajorB11 Feb 2011 6:58 a.m. PST

Ah, Margard, you're joking, is'nt it?

Or you're not skilled in advertising, to say the least!

Do you think people actually read (or even notice) the advertising banners on TMP or other web sites? I certainly don't. However, I do read any thread that takes my fancy and this one seemed interesting and maybe something I could help with.

So now I know that you will be at Salute and I'll probably take a gander at your stall, purely on the strength of this thread!

Just think how many TMPers you could have reached for free by just posting a thread on the Conventions board (cross posted to British Wargaming) with a title like "Testudo Miniatures at Salute 2011"!

I believe it's called viral advertising …

Please, Margard, when you'll be in Salute keep clear of our stand, we do'nt need your money and clients like you!

I thankyou also by the side of all that people that sustains TMP with their payed banners, on the contrary of you, who wander on TMP since almost one year for free.

I'm not quite sure how Margard managed to upset Warart so much. I thought he was trying to be helpful?

Oh. Wait. He was advised to insult another TMP member to attract Bill's attention….

TESTUDO11 Feb 2011 7:41 a.m. PST

OK, Metal Guru, you and Margard are the new founders of the advertising industry and me….I'm the "Big Brother", the evil genius.

If you want a suggestion, obviously for free, you could begin to think of joining the community of TMP's donors you too.

Ah, well, I prevent you, I'm not a donor, but I've been an advertiser for a long time. So, please, do'nt handle this tool.

Brilliant marketing stategy! Absolute genius.

Unlike Warart, who wander TMP since almost two year for free?

Mr. Pot, meet Mr. Kettle

I suspect/hope there's a language gap here. The other explanation is that obnoxious twerpery knows no international boundaries

Hey man, if you're happy to be named "viral advertiser" or "viral do'nt know what", you're welcome, I'm not happy at all!

And you too it's time to leave the community of the "talkers for free"!

TESTUDO11 Feb 2011 8:07 a.m. PST

I'm very sorry that I seem to have upset you, my intention was only to help! I've already flagged this topic for Bill's attention to try and help you, I'm not sure what else you expect from me? I can only assume you have misunderstood me in some way.

Thanks for trying to help, I accept your excuses and I make mine to you.
"Help" it was the only thing I was searching for.
Everybody can notice that in the topic's title is'nt mentioned Salute nor Testudo, a very strange way to advertise, but I forgot….. I'm shifty.

Hi Rava,

there is a long queue of emails awaiting the Editor i believe; a few people have found themselves in a similar position to yourself, so just hang on in there and wait until he gets back to you.

(English isnt everybody's first language folks and humour, especially sarcasm and irony, can be hard to understand.)

I really don't know what I said to invoke such a negative response.
I was actually saying that you had attracted me to take a look at your stall before you had even paid for a banner here, and then you tell me to push off?
That's not exactly a friendly way to treat potential customers.

For your information, my reference to "viral advertising" was certainly not intended to be insulting, although it seeems that you took it that way. You might find this informative:

I'm sorry for any confusion, but like Metal Guru, I was only trying to help.

TESTUDO11 Feb 2011 9:00 a.m. PST

Thankyou Atenocitis,

I was wrongly thinking that advertisers had a privilege lane.

In fact English is'nt my language, as a lot of people on there are aware of , but your signature suggests me you could be a "viral advertiser" evil grin
luckily for me there're emoticons.

Friendly,
G.Rava

TESTUDO11 Feb 2011 9:10 a.m. PST

The term "viral marketing" has also been used pejoratively to refer to stealth marketing campaigns

Here in Italy such kind of advertising has caused someone to be sued and fined, do'nt know in the rest of the world.

I seem to be having rolling emergencies this week, but am trying to catch up on everything as fast as I can!

For the past 48 hours or so, I've been having computer problems that have kept me offline most of the time…

TESTUDO11 Feb 2011 9:16 a.m. PST

Peace peace

MajorB11 Feb 2011 9:36 a.m. PST

Well, if you thought I was suggesting that you should do something that would get you into trouble like the person you mentioned who got sued, I can understand why you reacted so negatively.

AFAIK, viral marketing is perfectly legal in the UK or anywhere else come to that.
Fake viral marketing (aka sock puppeting) is however illegal.
I can only assume that the person who was sued was involved in some form of fake viral marketing.

Here's a British web site promoting this form of marketing:
link
"Try to place your message into people's social networks. Viral marketing companies are particularly adept at doing this as they generate exposure for viral content through placing it on blogs, forums, email newsletters, social networks, as well as video sharing sites."

Phew – that turned real nasty real quick, but looks like it may be safe again.

What sort of figures do you sell Mr Rava – are they your sculpts?

It always helps to remember that this is an internationally viewed web site and English is not the first language for many people here. Heck, sometimes I wonder about my fellow countrymen's grasp of English when I read some of the posts here…

So, when you respond to someone and their first language is not English, try and make sure that a humorous response cannot be confused for a Bleeped texted response. Use emoticons, tell them that you are kidding and let them know you're just trying to be a little light hearted. I have many aunts, uncles and cousins that speak German and I have many years of experience dealing with translation issues.

So Warat, rest assured that no one here meant anything even remotely hostile. They were just kidding around, joking, in a slightly teasing manner. And don't get upset with those of us that cannot afford to support TMP as much as most can. Times are tough and unfortunately that means some tough choices for all of us. If you can afford to help support TMP, that's great, but right now I can't. Please don't hold that against those of us that want to but cannot.

Thanks,

Shawn, just your average joe…

I read banner ads here. I'm thankful people pay for them, instead of advertising through the back door by constantly posting new topics, subtly (or not so subtly) referring to their products…

This was my fear, to be classified like that.
I've nothing against the not-donors, I'm among them me too.
Anyway if I hurted someone, I apologize.

I PMed the Ed. And I see he is aware of this this thread. I hope that he will get to you shortly.

TESTUDO12 Feb 2011 3:57 a.m. PST

Thanks Grand Duke,

to put an end to this thread and for those who wish to deepen it, please, read how I've been ridiculed in this forum link (scroll down near the end) only for giving an info to a member.

Maybe I misunderstood once more, but it seemed to me a strange way of joking or I'm simply too resentful.

average joe12 Feb 2011 10:13 a.m. PST

Warat, I picked up nothing hostile or in any way ridiculing you there. In fact, most of that thread would make me want to go out and buy your miniatures!

Strategos69 mentioned that he had read the G. Rava website was hard to order from. You provided the link and some additional information. When philqw78 went to the web site, he heard the music and made a slightly teasing remark about it being too loud. I kinda have to agree with that myself – I was not expecting music there. Remember, especially with websites, just because you can do a thing does not mean you should. Sometimes, less is better. In the end, Strategos69 thanked you and mentioned that not everything you read on the web (in this case, the G. Rava website was hard to order from) is true. So all in all, a very good thread for you and your miniatures with one slight criticism of the music.

I would add that you should put pictures up and with a measuring stick next to some as soon as possible. This would help people determine size quickly and I do like to see miniatures before I buy. This is a great reason to go to Salute, so people can see and handle your miniatures in person. I might also suggest a gallery page for painted miniatures, where people that have bought your miniatures can send in pictures and you can show off what they have done with them.

But these are just my suggestions and in the end it is your site and company to run. Good luck, and don't take everything we Americans say so seriously. grin

TESTUDO12 Feb 2011 10:39 a.m. PST

" Too noisy "…….it's the website music !huh?

I was thinking it was referred to the intrusiveness of my post.
UNBELIEVABLE!

In self defence I can only say that the misunderstanding was possible, the volume could be lowered or turned off.
