I am considering submitting this to Eureka's "P300" program for development ( eurekamin.com.au/custom.php ). There is obviously no sense in me submitting this if there is no interest amongst other gamers in these types of troops. I was prompted by the release of "Tomorrows War" and the current lack of available NF American troops to consider doing this. I'll post some NF troop concept pics below to give an idea of what I'm considering. These troops could still be armed with an M4 series weapon but would include an improved computer-integrated helmet and more complete body armor (among other enhancements). I would intend for these troops to represent American foot sloggers for 2020 to 2050 or thereabouts. I appreciate any realistic input as to if you are interested and how many troops (squad, platoon, company) you might be interested in. Thanks for any help/suggestions with this idea. If these become a viable submission, I will consider submitting near-future Russians next. Even if you are not interested (due to the chosen scale or not being sci-fi enough for you) I welcome any input and suggestions. link picture picture picture TMP link link picture picture link picture picture picture picture picture picture picture picture picture picture picture picture link picture picture picture link picture picture picture picture picture picture picture picture picture picture picture |

I would love to see more 15mm near future sci-fi in 15mm. I think there are however a lot that look ok that are out there now. But the more the better. |

In the near future US Marine arms and armour are likely to stay pretty much the same, so I'll stick with Peter Pig. |

These could, of course, work for low-tech sci-fi troopers or even for the Halo verse. They would make a nice counter to Khurasans upcoming Federal Troopers. "I think there are however a lot that look ok that are out there now. But the more the better." Couldnt agree more. |

As Ninjasaurus said – anything THAT near future is easily served by Peter Pig – especially in 15mm
|
Uesugi Kenshin | 04 Oct 2010 2:08 a.m. PST |
I think the Peter Pig figures are outstanding, but I'm thinking along the lines of the next generation troopers from todays. I highly doubt todays kevlar will look the same in 50 years. Body armor is becoming lighter and more practical for extended use and body coverage every year. Thats where I see the main differences being, aside from weapons like the air bursting grenade-launcher. Hence, the numerous pictorial suggestions. |

Would love to see a gallery of your painted armies -- you must be a truly prodigious painter, what with all the new figurines you are constantly looking to have made. You must have Eureka on speed dial. |

Yes. I'm not as much of a fan of 15mm as I had been. But if they produced figures like your photos I'd be sold! The carapace armor look is one of my favorites! Not as bulky as power armor, not as conventional as "helmet and flak vest". |

Rebel Minatures have what you wnat in their Earth Force troops. |
Crow Bait | 04 Oct 2010 9:12 a.m. PST |
Yes, I would be interested, especially if they made Mortar Teams to go with the figures. |

Most of GZGs troops generally fall into "near" futures sorts of equipement. Not that i am against another line of figures, it just hat there is a lot out there already. |
Top Gun Ace | 04 Oct 2010 11:40 a.m. PST |
I'd be interested, as long as the squads get one of those new-fangled infantry support weapons, like the XM-25, or the OCSW to play with. The XM-8 OICW for the troops would be appreciated as well. Yes, I know it was cancelled, but they need some sort of new infantry weapon to replace their antiquated kit. |
Uesugi Kenshin | 04 Oct 2010 12:03 p.m. PST |
I would definitely submit the OCSW. The Xm-25 could very well work as a squad support weapon. Thanks for the input. Info and Sheriff, I agree with you that Rebel and GZG have some great NF troops. Im collecting most of them! None of them scream "US" troops to me however, they are all just generic NF troops (which I have nothing against). I would like something that is discernible as NF US troops (or US equipped troops). |

Old Crow's miniatures line is based on one of the Land Warrior / Future Force Warrior / whatever it's called infantry prototypes. |

I like the German AT weapons, especially the one that looks like a modernized RPG-7 variant. |
Uesugi Kenshin | 05 Oct 2010 1:39 a.m. PST |
I believe thats the "Panzerfaust-3" link Lampy, I noticed that about the Old Crow figs. They are a nice line. They are actually going to be Turks (!) in my near-future war. If that line was only slightly more expanded I would have probably used them as US troops. |

I like the German AT weapons, especially the one that looks like a modernized RPG-7 variant. You mean these: link Also available with the earlier postwar range, which also includes the Armbrust LAW. If you are really good, I'll add a pack with the OICW to the modern US range |

My upcoming federal army could probably be used for marines maybe 50 years out? Don't know how "near" NF means. |

Lampy, I noticed that about the Old Crow figs. They are a nice line. They are actually going to be Turks (!) in my near-future war. If that line was only slightly more expanded I would have probably used them as US troops. Mine are NF Chinese. I had to use GZG gun drones to give them squad firepower. A crying shame they don't have SAWs or MGs!!! |

"My upcoming federal army could probably be used
" Oh, I'll be using them too! But they are Ukrainians for me ;-) "A crying shame they don't have SAWs or MGs!!!" YEP! Maybe a few polite email requests are in line! |

The Bio Soldiers are not too bad looking. The only thing holding me back is that its not a complete set (support weapons, command, etc
). If/when Rebel expands the Earth Home Guard with support and command, they will probably be the standard infantry force I use for several near-future nations (mostly former USSR Republics). Those and the Khurasan Federal Troops are my two most highly anticipated releases right now (til GZG re-does one of their older lines that is!). |

Khurasan has some lovely stuff. I'm preparing an order atm
Is it just me, or do their Garn (cool T-rexes with guns ftw) have pussy-looking guns? |
Uesugi Kenshin | 08 Oct 2010 2:11 p.m. PST |
Lol. Not the words I would have chosen but an astute observation. |
khurasanminiatures | 08 Oct 2010 2:35 p.m. PST |
It's supposed to be an SMG, so it's not a long weapon. Part of it is that the Garn themselves are large which makes the gun look smaller. It's actually not hard to make the gun look bigger if you go to an arts and crafts or bead store and get some really small connector beads, which you can glue on the front of the gun, makes the whole thing look a lot bigger! |
khurasanminiatures | 09 Oct 2010 12:51 p.m. PST |
Actually the Four Color Figures blog has a photo of some garn next to some human models so you can see what I mean: picture |
