Posted about the movie here: TMP link Now I'm interested in miniatures. Do you have suggestions for 28mm gangers from the 1970s-1990s? Thanks! |

I'd start by raiding the Heroclix ranges. There's some thugs and generic looking riff-raff that would be great. |

Recreating the gangs from the movies would involve some serious conversions. My idea is to instead create my own themed gangs using readily available figures. Some ideas: GW Catachans = The Arnolds (They'll be back) Armed Zombies = The Undead Cowboys = The Rangers Indians = The Warriors Pirates = The Buccaneers There are also a few gang packs available from Foundry (Street Violence) and Copplestone (Future Wars) and some pulpy packs from Brigade (AC57). The old GW Necromunda gangs could also be useful. I still want a set of Baseball Furies. |

Baseball Furies? Have you tried Sportsclix? |

Reviresco produces 28mm (1/64 scale) baseball miniatures that you can use as the Baseball Furies: tin-soldier.com/baseball.htm The only modification needed are the addition of baseball bats, which shouldn't be too hard using piano wire and plumber's putty. Brigade Games produces 28mm traditional "greasers": link As for the Warriors themselves, that's kinda tough. I'm thinking that you may have to scour through several post-apocalyptic ranges for some appropriate-looking figures. Good luck on your project, Randall! |

Grenadier did a few interesting 3-packs of Cyberpunk gangs about 20 years ago: Maelstrom Gangers (Road Warrior types), Solos (classic cyberpunk assassin types), Voodoo Boys (Rasta types), Bozos (yup, clowns): link While long OOP, the minis still turn up fairly often on Ebay. Best of all, they were *huge* back then, and they fit in fairly well with 28mms today. Any of those would be fairly easy to build on today. For example, there are at least half a dozen companies making armed clown miniatures. I know at least one gamer who did a clown gang, bought a small Hot Wheels car, and painted it in garish colors to use as a clown car. Any mini with dreads could join the Voodoo Boys. There are also dreadlocked female minis out there, so maybe chang ethe name to Voodoo Nation (pronounced "nay-shon" mon). Here's a list of all of the gangs in the movie (and the script) that I pulled together with help from the Internet years ago. These might spur some ideas for miniatures to use. o The Warriors themselves, shirtless with brown leather vests. o The Rogues, wearing sleeveless black leather biker jackets with the sleeves cut off, and biker caps. o The Gramercy Riffs, Cyrus's gang, wearing (mostly) orange o The Baseball Furies, of course, in Yankees uniforms and zombie/KISS make-up, armed with baseball bats. How about a cricket version, armed with cricket bats? o The Turnbull AC's, with their green school buses, armed with chains and planks of wood. o The Orphans, in jeans and T-shirts, armed with razors. o The Lizzies, an all-female gang. o The Punks, wearing long-sleeve shirts and overalls, and wielding chains and baseball bats. o The Spanish Harlem Hurricanes, in 50's-style straw hats o The Harlem Boppers, wearing purple waistcoats, cream slacks, and fedoras o The Soho Hi-Hats, dressed like mimes in red and black tops, suspenders, white face-paint, and top hats o The Electric Eliminators, in yellow satin jackets o The Savage Huns of Chinatown, Orientals wearing green martial arts-style shirts and brown Tibetan-style pointed hats o The Pelham Moonrunners, in silver space suits and purple vests o The Saracens, wearing black unitards with white trim o Satan's Mothers, wearing biker vests o The Jones Street Boys, wearing yellow and black in various combinations o The Van Cortlandt Rangers, who wear black and white horizontal-striped tops and fedoras o The Boyle Avenue Runners, who wear black tank tops with red trim o The Gladiators, with jeans and black T-shirts o The Panzers, who wear black T-shirts, woodland camo jackets, and black berets o A gang wearing hawaiian print shirts o A gang wearing shearling vests Here's a full listing of all the gangs in the movie, from the original script: Alleycats, Amsterdam All-Stars, Baseball Furies, Black Hands, Blackjacks, Big Trains, Boppers, Boyle Avenue Runners, Charlemagnes, Colt 45's, Dealers, Delaney Rovers, Dingoes, E Street Shufflers, Easy Aces, Electric Eliminators, Eighth Avenue Apaches, Fastballs, Fifth Street Bombers, Filmores, Firetasters, Five Points, Gerrards, Gladiators, Go Hards, Gun Hill Dancers, Gramercy Riffs, High Hats, High Rollers, Homeboys, Hoplites, Howitzers, Huks, Hurricanes, Imps, Jesters, Jones Street Boys, Judas Bunch, Jupiters, Knockdowns, Knuckles, Lizzies, Locos, Magicians, Meatpackers, Moonrunners, Napoleons, Nickel Steaks, Nightriders, Ninth Avenue Razors, Orphans, Panzers, Phillies, Plainsmen, Punks, Queen's Bridge Mutilators, Real Boys, Red Hook Shooters, Roadmasters, Rogues, Romans, Runaways, Saracens, Saratogas, Savage Huns, Shanghai Sultans, Southern Cross, Speedwagons, Stevedores, Stilletos, Stonebreakers, Terriers, Turks, Turnbull AC's, Van Cortlandt Rangers, Warriors, Whispers, Xenophones, Xylophones, Yo-Yo's, Youngbloods, Zodiacs, Zulus. If nothing else, those should give you some good ideas for names. Gotta love the Nickel Steaks! |

Nice research jp2. I have a soft spot for that movie, always fancied a gang of the Soho Hi-Hats. |

If Reaper or Hasslefree would do a sprue of various top hats, I'd be tempted to convert some Soho Hi-Hats. |

It is amazing that people will take the time to research such off beat things such as The Warriors. I love that movie, owned it on tape and now disk. Second only to Streets of Fire on my list of top Gang movies. The music put SOF in first. Congrats to jpattern2 for his research and reporting it here. Isn't Roadmasters from Streets of Fire? Warriors, come out to play-i-ay. |

I loved the movie, especially Joe Walsh's song at the end. Perfect match. |
