Having spent a number of days thinking about how to approach this project I think I might have found a decent way. It is only one of the possible ways I might go but I am happy with Idea 1.0 so far.

The idea for those that missed it the first time,

is that I wanted to to make a 15mm version of necromunda that could all fit in a cigar box.

I cut a piece of cardboard 2x2 foot as that would be the size of the board I would need to be able to cover.
I flipped the cigar box over and it made my first large building but I would need a few more.

I remembered I had bought a bunch of girders from; girderpanel.com

So I built a few buildings out of them. but they still seemed too open, then I hit on using granny grating that would snap onto the pegs and make the walls. They started to look right now. I gave them a spraypaint of black and then copper, with a touch of black again to tone it down.
I also cut down a couple of the electric fence spacers to represent the large support beams the underhive would have(and a bit of extra cover).

I also made a couple of chainlink fences out of the girder parts and the granny grating.

I threw it all on the table

The odd cardboard bit in the bottom left of the photo is a mock 2nd building that will flip over and hold stuff in the box. I will be printing out some stuff to properly cover the cigarbox, and the 1 or 2 interior boxes that will hold all the parts inside the box. I also want to print out a number of catwalks to bridge the buildings.

It's not that much but it is a start.

Love any suggestions anyone might have, comments both positive and negative are welcome.

Looks like you are having fun and the progress is promising!

Looking great. I think this is an awesome idea. One of the great things about it is that Necromudna gngs require vyer few figures, so it's the perfect vehicle for dabbling with lots of different types of figures (which is slmost a necessity given how much awesome 15mm sci fi is being rolled out!).

The idea certainly has merit. Necromunda/Mordheim is my favorite GW game and this new approach could really open up things.

This is an excellent idea. I like this a lot. Thanks especially for posting the link to the girderpanels. Those girders look great and are just what I've been wanting. One suggestion for alternate chain link fencing is to use plastic window screen like Alfrik and Shelldrake did here.

I magine you could just roll the ffence around the posts for storage.
Anyway, great project. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

What miniatures are you going to use?

Thanks,

I picked up rebel mini's Sahadeen to work into Cawdor. I am thinking one of the human trooper lines to make into Van Saar as many already have the biosuit look to them.

I picked up Khurasan's Road outlaws but many seem to large to work with the Sahadeen.

I am thinking about adding some sort of cardboard or something to the granny grating to look like sheet metal over rebar.

I have also hit on using some of the plastic drawers as the storage/housing on the table. picsdigger.com/image/84a58897

Lastly I was thinking of using the lid to the cigar box to have the necro cheatsheets laminated too so even some of the rules are in the box.

Very cool idea. Might need to do something similar for my travel needs.

So, is this game for skirmishing with gangs?

Thanks,

Dan

Yep gang warfare. although I prefer the old rule to the free ones.

Wow. Sounds cool. If you eliminate all references to tech, the Scavvies rules could easily apply to a caveman clan:
