With a tidy sum of gaming money made from my recent bartertown sell off of many unfinished projects I am ready to jump right into a new one! The plan is to make a fully portable version of necromunda with 2 gangs with terrain that can fit in the smallest carry case possible – I am thinking cigar box sized? I plotted out what I will need for this project. 1 – Find compatible size wise 15mm figures 2 – Convert and paint said figures 3 – Build terrain 4 – Adapt rules as needed to work with new scale. This is where I come to the hivemind for suggestions on any of the above. Has anyone been down this route, or have any suggestions? Thanks for looking DZT |

Sounds like an awesome project! Khurasan Minis and Rebel minis have some great Post Apocalyptic gangers and such that should work for you. |

That sounds suitably awesome. 1,2. For figures, Khurasan has some great gangers that just came out. Some very Goliath or Orlock styled figs among others. There's lots of options for lightly armored VanSaar look alikes GXG would be a good place to start. Escher might be hard to source from one maker, but there's enough sexy chicks with guns out there to make a respectable force. Also, 15mm.uk has you covered for arbites figures. I'm not sure about Ratskins, Sacvies, and the trencoat gang whose name escapes me. 3) For terrain, there's a fair number of good industrial kits in HO scale which would look fine for 15mm necro. Also, the Chemical plant and Platformer kits from Pegasus would be golden for this kind of thing. 4)I don't see why the rules would need to be adapted. Just play CM isntead of inches. |

The hard part is going to be getting terrain that will fit in a cigar box. While compact, the Pegasus sets may take up too much room. It might work better if you use only the connectors from the Pegasus sets (or similar connectors) and cut your own walls/floors/etc, out of mat board. That way you can scale them down to 15mm and get more in your box. The Pegasus connectors are about the right size to hold mat board, but I'm not sure if they are exact. You could always try going 6mm. GZG, Dark Realm, and Exodus wars will give you lots of gang options. I've seen individually based 6mm minis before. It's kind of funny, but could work. ;) |

Nice project, sounds like a lot of fun! I think you are going to want to think about plasticard for walls and floors. You can cut to size, and it will hold up when you put it away, with no corner tearing, as opposed to paper walls. Do post your updates on this project. |

"The hard part is going to be getting terrain that will fit in a cigar box." No, the hard part will be getting your fingers into the terrain that fits into a cigar box so you can extricate that last Juve without upending the entire structure. |

I think you are going to want to think about plasticard for walls and floors. You can cut to size, and it will hold up when you put it away, with no corner tearing, as opposed to paper walls. Plasticard will survive longer, but connecting and disconnecting will ruin the paintjob. With card, the paint should soak into the paper, so wear will be less obvious. You should be able to get quite a number of games from it before having to redo it and mat board is really cheap compared to plasticard. As for manipulating in tight spaces, I recommend extra long tweezers with flexible plastic tubing slipped over the ends. It should protect your paintjob and still give you reasonable fine control. Oh, and no caffeine before games ;) |

"The hard part is going to be getting terrain that will fit in a cigar box" Unless the cigar box is really a couple of cigar boxes
which is kinda gross, lit cigars tend to smell like burning dog logs :( but if you had say three cigar boxes, one for each gang with particular terrain to the gang and then a general terrain box. gang A box
8-12 miniatures, 2-3 resource markers (power blocks, food dispensers, etc.), 1-2 animals that are gang/location specific, etc. gang B box
8-12 miniatures, 2-3 resource markers (power blocks, food dispensers, etc.), 1-2 animals that are gang/location specific, etc. terrain box
wall sections, barrels, boxes, crates, etc. a whole bunch of commonly found items Sounds like a great idea actually, Necromunda
Undercity Gang Wars
in 15mm. Realistic ranges for weapons. ************ Does anyone make savages in 15mm? Your basic unequipped barely clothed type of human
I have played out the hordes of street savages before, in 28mm, and in 15mm I could afford the horde for real
say 3:1 or 4:1 compared to other gangs
with dogs or the like to run along with the mob
fun times. So no guns
bows/arrows, spears, sticks/stones, clubs, etc
all scavenged parts
clubs made of parking meters/street signs
and the like. That would be fun
everyone shows up to the game with their box
mine with 30-50 undercity savages with their animals and some terrain like shanties, lean-to's, tents, burning barrels, drying meats (other gangers :), etc. |

With some hinges and clasps, you should make the terrain fold out so it is roughly the size of a cigar box. All your walkways could be seperate with other smaller pieces that are not attached to the main board piece. Additionally, you could store your gangers inside the terrain, fold it up, and transport it easily. Anything you make portable will be a little more easily banged up, the basic problem with anything that travels alot. |

The cigar box itself should serve as terrain (wall, raised platform, toxic waste pool, etc.) to really push the limit on much you can cram into a small space. |

Things like this would be fun
no telling what will pour out of the holes link |

Klutz now has sci-fi themed building cards link . I have used the Hogwarts sets for 15mm fantasy terrain. Make sure you look at the "extra" card sets, more replacement cards and half the cost of the basic set. You should be able to fit a decent city into one cigar box. |

While this may be bulkier than what you are thinking about, Tiny Solitary Soldiers has done some great 15mm terrain using the Pegasus plastics: link |

Hi, Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I say cigar box but that was just for rough size estimates. I'm going to be spending some time sorting through my options and will be posting updates as I go. |

As someone once said: "Fore I am Darke Lorde Brootoss of Choash the despoiler of worlds. He who inhabits the innere dimenshuns of the realms of infinity" Plenty of 15mm SciFi out there – just how ragged do you want them? |

15mm savage humans? Bows, spears, clubs, no much in clothes/armor? Anyone? Suggestions? |

Sofar I am thinking that Rebel Minis – Sahadeen Army will be a good basis for Cawdor, |

15mm savage humans? Bows, spears, clubs, no much in clothes/armor? Anyone? Suggestions? I don't do 15mm, so I'm not up on all the products, but certainly someone must do 15mm native americans. Maybe mix in some 15mm ancients (Greeks, Celts, Numidians, Germans)? |
28mmMan | 07 Aug 2010 3:33 p.m. PST |
That is what I was thinking also
just now considering 15mm and my prior interest in ancients/historical gaming was less than a grain of salt in the ocean
don't even know where to start. |
