I can't remember if the SF artwork was from a book cover or a movie poster . . . Anyway, I seem to remember a really neat painting of a huge ruined stone monument, of a robed (and hooded?) figure with the face of a Grey. It was somewhat similar in feel to these Jeff Carlisle drawings, but the figure seemed rather a single solitary statue (not against a cliff), perhaps in the middle of a desert or dried-up sea: link link This Mars photo looks cool too, but tiny: picture picture picture picture QUESTIONS: Does that description seem familiar to any of you? If so, do you know the name of the book, movie, or artist? I would love to use it as inspiration for a terrain/scenic piece. Thanks so much! Dan PS. I can't be absolutely sure, but I think it was a seated statue, posed like these seated Egyptian ones, but robed and with a Grey alien face: link |

Dan, Did you look at Armorcast for a terrain piece? link link |

Love those Carlisle drawings ! Printed some and posted them in my War Room Wall. The Varisia drawing is cool too. Are those other photos supposed to be real ?! The Armorcast terrain pieces are great ! |

Greylegion, Wow. That second Armorcast piece sure looks a lot like the SF artwork I'm trying to track down! However, I do remember it being a real painting of some sort (book cover, most likely), and not simply a terrain piece that caught my eye. The alien Grey's face was clearly visible in the artwork. Thanks. Dan |

Legion4, Here's a bigger version of that Varisia image I found a few minutes ago: picture I guess I'm still searching for that sole statue artwork, described in the initial post. Dan |

Cool !! Thanks !! I'll have to print that one too !! Great inspiration for modeling !! So are those pics on Mars supposed to be real ? Like the supposed "Face on Mars" ? |

Real? LOL. Yes. Real-ly good inspiration for Martian terrain and scenics. link link picture Dan |

Well
I thought it may have been in that group of pics that show "the Face", Pyramids, etc. of stuctures on Mars. Which, I believe are "suspect"

Nice pics !! Yes, I've seen those supposed Mar's Face photos
it would be cool
but, as I said, I'm very much suspect
Mission to Mars wasn't too bad
the only movie I know of that has the face on Mars in it

Guys, I would love to find that robed alien picture soon. I started on a statue of a Grey (the head, much like the Easter Island heads), and am about ready to do the hood/robe. Dan |

This is an example of the trouble I have making robes that look like flowing cloth: TMP link I end up having to stylize the subject, to avoid that detail. Dan |

This is the closest I've come to finding the image I was after: picture Dan |
