As all of you know, the current default order of topics on any discussion board is by most recent post. Here's an example: TMP link What many may not be aware of is that the system apparently allows for setting the order to "Sort By Start Date" (similar to the order on the main page). Viewing by start date would prevent one from viewing older threads that have been updated. QUESTIONS: A) (To Editor) Could "Sort By Start Date" become the actual default order on all discussion boards instead? B) (To All Members) If so, would you support making such a change? - 1) Yes. Change the default order. I want to see latest threads first. - 2) No. Don't change the default order. I want to see threads by latest post, even older but updated threads. - 3) Give it a rest. This is not an issue for me. I can sort either way, as I need/want. Thanks, Dan PS. I know I over-reacted to complaints from a vocal minority on a previous thread: TMP link And I got what I deserved for my outburst. On this new one here, let's please work on a solution to objections on both sides. |

No – no 2 as it currently is is good. It may be usefully to have the sort button rather more obvious though as I haven't noticed it in the last several years The current method of home page showing new topics and boards showing recently posted makes it easier to see which topics have new info |

2 plus the "give it a rest, this is not an issue" part of 3. |

3 If I can suggest a 4, what I'd like is the same sort options for the main page. The main page is where I read all my topics from -- I only go into a specific board if I'm searching for an old topic and I can't find it with the search engine. My one issue with using the main page in this way is sometimes a still-active topic will roll off. If I could change the main page topics to present by most recent post, that wouldn't happen. |

Hey CC, number 3 for me, but I don't mean it as "give it a rest" in a dismissive manner – it really is good enough fr me. -- Tim |

Sint ut sunt aut non sint. Why do you want to change the default for all the rest of us when you can do it yourself for yourself? |

Welcome back! #4) Needs more boobies! Seriously, though, the ways things are is fine by by me. But I am not a TMP "power user" like many, I use from my phone, and and not a great one at that lol! |

No, I don't support changing the the default ordering just for the sake of it. There is a huge great button on the forums entitled 'Sort by Start Order', just press it if you want a different order. |

#3 I learned long ago, that if I want to keep track of a thread I'm really interested in, I just make a comment in it and then search "threads by author" and type in my own name. Every thread is right there. |

From what the votes on the poll show, it looks like the majority like the posts to be sorted by most recent post: TMP link Dan |
