For those of you who were unable to attend this year, here is a complete walkthrough of SALUTE – the annual South London Warlords (UK) event.

This is the largest show on the UK's wargaming calendar. The photos show the demo and participation games that were staged throughout the one-day event at the prestigious EXCEL Centre in London's Docklands.

To give you a more complete walkthrough experience, I've interspersed photos of the trade stands among the demo & participation games.

You star Mr Dever…. :-) I think a few people have been hoping for this post after your efforts last year – thanks very much.

Your photo reports are almost as good as having been to these shows in person. Nice one!

Patrick R25 Apr 2010 12:35 p.m. PST

Thanks Joe, great to see all those pics you took.

Ermintrude25 Apr 2010 12:39 p.m. PST

Wow, thanks!

MiniatureReview25 Apr 2010 1:21 p.m. PST

Wow. Thanks for all that work. It really helped seeing what was there. You put a lot of work into that and it shows.

I did notice

347: The Kyushu Bay Incident. Wigan Wargames. wigan-wargames.co.uk

The game that was being played was from Critical Mass Games.

Enzedmaster25 Apr 2010 1:51 p.m. PST

Thank you!

Could someone inform me what a "bring and buy" is?

Grizwald25 Apr 2010 2:13 p.m. PST

"Could someone inform me what a "bring and buy" is?"

You bring your stuff that you want to sell.
You queue up to register your stuff for sale.
You walk away clutching a little ticket.
Some hours later, you return and queue up again to collect your takings (less a commission, usually 10%) and any of your stuff that is unsold, in exchange for the little ticket.
Hopefully, you'll get all your unsold stuff back – some people have experienced some of their stuff going "missing" (though not necessarily at Salute).

Swampster25 Apr 2010 2:19 p.m. PST

Bring and buy = flea market.

It shows the size of the place – I don't remember seeing the sizeable Busaco game!

Wish I'd looked more closely at the Belgrade game, it looked good and the club has one or two people I know.

Stevus25 Apr 2010 2:22 p.m. PST

Nice pics.

The Kallistra terrain based games i thought looked very good, especially the castle walls.
Just can't see how i'd use them with the large Impetus bases though /sigh

Grizwald25 Apr 2010 2:26 p.m. PST

"Bring and buy = flea market"

No, not the same thing. See my description above. As I understand it, in a flea market you rent a table and sell your own stuff. In a bring and buy, someone else sells your stuff (for a commission).

Insomniac25 Apr 2010 2:30 p.m. PST

You take your stuff to the show and register it, the show sells it for you, the show takes a small cut of your profit (or in some cases you pay a small amount in advance) and then you get your money and go home…simple.

oldbob25 Apr 2010 2:38 p.m. PST

Joe; thank you for sharing, great pictures!

GoodBye25 Apr 2010 2:49 p.m. PST

Wow! Great photo essay, thank you.

Swampster25 Apr 2010 3:10 p.m. PST

"No, not the same thing. See my description above. As I understand it, in a flea market you rent a table and sell your own stuff. "

Not identical, but the closest equivalent.

Steve Hazuka25 Apr 2010 3:14 p.m. PST

I stole a photo from you. #71 Alternative Armies. They were selling my rule book and I saw it on the table. Hope you don't mind.

Great picture show! It was almost as if I were there as I scrolled through the pictures. That Busaco scenery is amazing.

Splendid set of pictures, Joe, many thanks. No shots of the Star Trek game?

valleyboy26 Apr 2010 2:05 a.m. PST

Thank you Joe
I was hoping you'd be there as I couldn't be!

morkin26 Apr 2010 2:45 a.m. PST

Thanks for the great effort. You got those up remarkably quickly. Wow.

For those of you who weren't there: Some tables/stands which Joe seems to have missed are: Hasslefree, Heresy, Studio McVey, Black Scorpion and Freebooter. To be fair, though, there is an awful lot going on at Salute, and it is very easy to overlook some stuff. I know I have. :-)

Steve Blease26 Apr 2010 3:06 a.m. PST

"you missed two tables – WW1 subbuteo and Frotherheim"

It is practically impossible to cover everything, even the mighty Joe. I think I got both those in my photos but I certainly missed a lot Joe didn't!

fantastic pictures thank you..

alien BLOODY HELL surfer26 Apr 2010 5:35 a.m. PST

I was pulling Joe's leg :-)

The photo's were great, I didn't get to take a lot of pics, just a few games (the two mentioned) plus the one by the Atennociti stand which was awesome.

It would have been some effort to get every game photo'd let alone also adding in trade stands!

Palafox26 Apr 2010 6:45 a.m. PST

Does anyone know how to contact the guys that put up the Blenheim 1704 table, pls?. I'd like to ask them a couple of questions.

And thanks a lot for the effort of posting all these awesome photos Joe. Very much appreciated.

ubique126 Apr 2010 8:29 a.m. PST

Excellent, thanks a lot. Next year I'm definitely going.

richarDISNEY26 Apr 2010 9:35 a.m. PST

That was AWESOME!!!
But only 3 pages of pics? laugh
It was like being there. Thanks to you adding links to the sellers, I now have a few more companies to look at!

NOW THATS A CON!

Wishin I was there!

Grizwald26 Apr 2010 12:09 p.m. PST

"NOW THATS A CON!"

Actually, it's a show, not a con. There are several differences, see here:

I very much enjoyed your photos (especially as I missed some of the best games), but I think you missed our Zama; photos here (just below the pre-game drinking shots). ;-)
