I think that there is one at the Patton Museum in Ft. Knox. |

The Ordnance Museum at Aberdeen Proving Grounds has one (or is that 'had' one? I understand the museum is relocating). |

Saumur IIRC has a runner. There's Bovington which I think has one (may be a runner). The Patton Museum. APG. Kubinka. Where's #6? Damon. |

The vehicle at the Patton Museum is a Tiger II/Konigstiger, not a Tiger I. |

Saumur IIRC has a runner. There's Bovington which I think has one (may be a runner). No the Bovington one is the only runner. Samur has a running Panther IIRC. |

The one formerly at Aberdeen was sent back to Germany where it is supposedly being restored – or has been restored. Whether it will return, or remain on display in Germany I don't know. Wyatt |

Patrick's link i turn further links to another article about the Russian testing of capture King Tiger's and their mechanical reliability. Excellent, excellent dose of reality for Tiger fanboys (and I'm as guilty of that as the next wargamer, not throwing stones). Particularly interesting how the quality of the armor itself deteriorated over the late war years. |

I thought the Germans had one at their tank museum. Also, there was the one everybody drooled over that was filmed running in one of the former Yugoslavian areas during the trouble in the 1990's. |

The Soviet test comment about US 76 mm AP being several times better than their 85 mm AT was interesting. Dan |

"Also, there was the one everybody drooled over that was filmed running in one of the former Yugoslavian areas during the trouble in the 1990's." Say WHAT? Why wasn't I told! |

The APG Tiger has been in Germany since at least 1996. If or when it returns, I reckon it'll be heading to Ft Lee. |

"Also, there was the one everybody drooled over that was filmed running in one of the former Yugoslavian areas during the trouble in the 1990's." I didn't see the news clip, but talk quickly made the circuit. Acording to what I had heard, the news nerd was babbling about the Serbs/Bosnians/etc while an armored column was moving along a road in a town/city behind him. During his babbling one of the tanks that came into view and turned and went out of view was a Tiger. It was said that some of the monied tank collectors quickly started offering a reward for its lication and purchase. Never heard what became of it. I do have a friend that, when stationed in German in the early 1980's, said a old German drove up to the front gate of his post with a PZ IV. His story was that he and his crew mates had parked it in a barn at the end of the war. They took care of it and occasionally, at night when maneuvers were being held in the area, would take it out for a spin to exercise the running gear (They figured no one would notice another tank trundling around in the dark). He turned it in because he was the only surviving crewman and he could no longer take care of it. |

Could the 'mystery' Yugoslavian Tiger, have been one originally made for the Film "Kelly's Heroes" ? See the last paragraph of the Sherman entry: link and also: link Perhaps Oddball was driving

Seems to be running fine
That's a Tiger II! Bovington's is a Tiger I. |

That's a Tiger II! Bovington's is a Tiger I. Yes, it's not a Panther. |
| Martin Rapier | 25 Jan 2010 5:08 a.m. PST |
Same engine as a Panther though. Never occured to me before that the only place I've seen a Tiger 1 is at Bovvy. There are a couple at Duxford, but they are SPR mockups. |

As Big P says; one is sitting at the side of the road in Vimoutiers, Normandy. It was scuttled there by its crew during the retreat from Falaise and spend 30 years at the bottom of a ravine, where the scrap dealers couldn't get at it. It was then recovered in the 1970s and has been at the side of the road, as a memorial, ever since. |
