You can't fence snakes, Sonny. They go where the want. We used to tell the greenhorns that surrounding yourself with a coil of rope would keep them out of your bedroll as the snakes don't like the feel as they slither over it. Of course, it is a lie, but whatever helps them sleep at night. Nothing worse than a sleepy trail hand with a fear of snakes
