You didn't mention scale, but Battlefield Terrain Concepts
can supply what you need.

Check out their website, battlefieldterrain.com

Great products, wonderful service.

We have a wide variety of ACW scenic items (fences, bridges, trees, haystacks, tents, etc.) in both 15mm and 20mm. Check us out at musketminiatures.com.

Feel free to have a look at the model terrain ideas on my Civil War gaming blog, link

Be sure to click each photo to enlarge it. This may give you some ideas.

I guess my first question is what scale? Then what theater you are most interested in. A good ground cloth should be your first consideration. after that all the other items will fall in to place. Visit some conventions and see what others are doing for some excellent idea. Oh and fences you will need mucho mucho fences.

Don't overlook army blankets for your ground cloth. Just make sure they are the same color.

As for the rest, don't get in a hurry. Go to some conventions, ask some questions. Seeing will help a lot.

I can heartily recommend both Musket Miniatures as well as BattleFieldTerrain.com in fact I just bout 20 feet of fence and several fields from BTC this weekend. Really beautiful finished pieces.

Musket doesn't do finished any more I don;t think but their resin buildings are stunning. Plus they do tons and tons of useful items that no one else makes.

Lots of trees….the vast majority of ACW games I've seen here in Europe have way too much open ground.

The old Architectual Heritage models, now owned/sold by JR Miniatures are really nice. A fairly limited line, they aren't "enterable", but they have nice details to them. You can use their buildings for American Rev War also.

I like the rough stone walls made by Armorcast – they paint up real nice, and are very durable. I prefer the walls made from small rocks (ACW015 – 4", ACW019 – 6", and ACW026 – 9"), which are best for representing field stone walls.

You can find some good trees from the Lemax Christmas display sets. The evergreens are best, but the others can work well too, especially Winter trees which can be hard to find elsewhere.

I also recently fount a company, JTT Tree, that sells trees for architectural models that really look nice, better than Woodland Scenics, IMHO.
