It seems even they don't know they are running a Flames of War Event. Their events page only lists 2008 entries! Starsmash Warhammer 40000 Tournament Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th September 2008 Held At Colours Newbury Race Course Looking forward to going and seeing what actually turns up :-) |

Are Connard Sage and aecurtis the same person (at least when Allen's in a bad mood)? |

You never see them at the same time. There's only one possibility. <Robert Goulet voice> "They're COUSINS, identical cousins

I reserve the right to rip the out of anyone too stupid/lazy/incompetent to use Google as a first resource. I also reserve the right I reserve the right to rip the out of anyone who uses Google as the only resource. I also reserve the right I reserve the right to rip the out of anyone who takes my ramblings on here seriously. 57 people have, God knows how they deal with daily life Does that about cover it? |

Many thanks for answering my question so quickly! I was kinda hoping that a member of the said club might pop up here on TMP and be able to tell us something sensible about the FOW takeover of Colours. Apparently not. "I reserve the right to rip the Bleeped text out of anyone too stupid/lazy/incompetent to use Google" Neither stupid nor incompetent. Lazy probably (in this particular case). "to use Google as a first resource." Google, however, is in and of itself NOT a resource, merely a way of searching for on-line resources. "I also reserve the right I reserve the right to rip the Bleeped text out of anyone who takes my ramblings on here seriously." Take you seriously? God forbid!! :-) |

Are Connard Sage and aecurtis the same person (at least when Allen's in a bad mood)? Twin/Evil Twin separated at birth and sent to different places. I'm still trying to discover which one is the evil one though. |

who uses Google as the only resource.Google, however, is in and of itself NOT a resource, merely a way of searching for on-line resources. Then, of itself, it is a resource As Google is merely a resource for sourcing out resources, and you then need to look at those resources to see what sources Google has resourced in your resource search, does that not make it slightly tricky to ever use Google as the only resource? |

I'm British and always take a very relaxed attitude to message board ramblings. Wish everyone else did (except spelling and punctuation, of course, which must be dealt with zealously and speedily). |

I'm British and always take a very relaxed attitude to message board ramblings There are one or two who seem to take me questioning (and rambling) as something coming from a manufacturer with an axe to grind against competing companies, whereas in reality I'm a wargamer who just likes to ask questions :-) Come over here and sit in the pedants corner. Always nice to have another Brit on board, and a Geoff to boot. I shall take the comfy floor cushion – hope the kettle's on Damn good name I always thought so. |

I was kinda hoping that a member of the said club might pop up here on TMP and be able to tell us something sensible about the FOW takeover of Colours. Apparently not. Particularly as my email to the organisers read: "Your website seems to be a bit lacking in actual information, but in view of Battlefront's announcement that "Colours is a Flames Of War event held in the United Kingdom" can you confirm whether there is, in fact, a Flames of War competition taking place." And the response that it is organised by the Spiky Club was actually copied to them by the organisers

I think the fundamental issue here is assuming that BF UK actually know anything about the UK convention and historical tournament scene. I had an interesting discussion with a senior BF UK person who has decided to organise a 'big' tournament in Nottingham and picked what he thinks is a good date. It just happens to be the same weekend as that really insignificant event in Reading called Warfare? :O I honestly don't believe that anyone at BF UK HQ knows the significance and size of of the Colours show. |
| GeoffQRF | 09 Aug 2009 8:47 a.m. PST |
Just to play devil's advocate
doesn't know the significance, or overrates their importance? ;-) |

The first rule about Spiky Club: you don't talk about Spiky Club. |

Just to break the first rule, here is a response from Spiky Club (emailed direct to me and posted here so no-one can be in any doubt!) My name is Andy, and I'm organising the Flames of War Competition at Colours this year. The competition name is 'Where Toy Soldiers Dare Some More' It's Late War, 1750 points, 4 games and £12.50 GBP entry which includes entry into Colours. Contact is myself at this email: spikyevents@hotmail.co.uk Colours is a trade show that has a number of competitions running, Flames of War including. It [the competition] is open to everyone, and pre-booked (just drop me an email to book a place) so we know how many are coming, and armies. Cheers, Andy Andrew Parker Events Organiser The Spiky Club, Reading spikyclub.org |

"Just to play devil's advocate
doesn't know the significance, or overrates their importance? ;-)" Well from memory the conversation went "We are going to hold it on date X" "Really, that is the same weekend as Warfare, are you sure that is a good idea?" "Warfare?" "Yes a big show in Reading" "I don' think that will impact us in Nottingham". |
| GUNBOAT | 14 Aug 2009 12:21 p.m. PST |
Think your right James Warfare Impacts on show as far as Spain and Italy I know as we have been asked what days we are holding our show so they can pick a different date to hold theirs |
