I always love seeing pictures of my models posted online, all painted up, so how great to check out the "Hour of Wolves & Shattered Shields" website and see some of my Normans painted up! And looking pretty cool I might add: tinyurl.com/l83emt atb khurasanminiatures.tripod.com |

Cool? They are superb! I was seriously tempted for either Shattered Lances or Basic Impetus when I first saw the minis on the website but these pics may just be the clincher! Cheers Mark |

I didn't know there were Normans in the ancient times! Griefbringer |

Depends on how you define ancient times. Many rules sets that are called "Ancients rules" go up to 1500. In fact most of them do. |

Very nice. I don't even like painting checkerboard designs on 28mm figures! Ralph |

Depends on how you define ancient times. The official TMP stance seems to be that the ancient period ends up around 500 AD, after which starts the medieval period: TMP link And most historians seem to time the transition from ancient to medieval period around this time (+/- something). Not that the notions of the historians would in any form deter gamers, who are entirely happy to throw around such terms as "biblical" or "renessaince" in a most curious fashion. Griefbringer |

Very strong work on the shields. I'm not too crazy about the color-coordinated helmets. Regardless of the paint job, they are nice minis. Steve |

Neldoreth always does a fine job on his figures – my only comment is that sometimes they are too colourful! Like the Persians as well as. The figures themselves are good and one day I will have to decide between Khurasan, Xyston or
..too hard! |

There is evidence that medieval helmets were often painted. It just looks a bit odd to us because we have been accustomed to the 'knight in shining armour' idea since childhood. |

Nice figures, Khurasan and cracking paint job. |

Thanks for all the constructive comments guys -- I think Cerdic is right in that helmets, at least of knights, could at times have been painted, partly to protect the metal and partly to show who was who! Although it became necessary to do so in the 13th+ centuries, even as early as the 11th C. the man was at least partly obscured by his helmet. I think nelderoth did a spectacular job, especially considering that the images show the models much larger than actual size! |

why? |

Wow! Those are 15s! On first look I thought they were 28s. Superb job. Makes me wish I did my Ancient/Medieval gaming in 15 and not 6! |

Must admit I'm torn. Heather likes 28's so I've been looking at Perry 1st Crusade to mix with Gripping Beast. But, I really do like the look of these 15's and think they would look good en masse! Cheers Mark |
