Looking mixing in and getting opponents for Khurasan Early Byzantines / Late Romans. Thoughts on Sassanids from AB and Byzantines from 50paces to mix in for variation and opponents?

I have AB Sassanids and 50paces Byzantines. I wouldn't mix them in the same unit. The sculpting style and resulting figure sizes are far enough apart to be, for me, problematical. I keep them in their own units. Is there a size comparison for Khurasan vs the other brands?

AB are generally thought to be "big", and 50 Paces (ie Strategia et Tactica from Italy) are Essex sized or a bit smaller.

The Khurasan byzantines Ive seen (tonight oddly enough) looked perhaps a little too finely proportioned to mix with either of the others anyway. But they are similar in height I think to the "Essex standard"

Khurasan will likely be able to advise, but there is a possibility of Khurasan adding Sassanids. I can't say whether they will or not, but if they do they will be made to fit with the existing figures.

Ah but which existing figures?

AB? Essex? Old Glory? (and if OG which, the occasional large or the more normal kinda Essex sized)

For me the it's are they Essex or OG sized that's important.

With Khurasan's existing Late Antiquity figures, those that are likely to be allied or opposed to them, Late Romans, early Byzantines, Huns etc.

Oops. Missed comparison page. That helps.

Thanks Clibinarium, that helps quite a lot.

This might be of help, particularly for Sasanian minis. For my mind i have yet to come across 15mm minis that i would not mix together. The main things that make me shy away are differences in spear, shield and bow sizes, but they can all easily be addressed with the use of snips, press mold, pin vise and wire. People come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, within my direct circle of friends we have a couple of AB body types, a couple of essex body types, a donnington body type and even a mikes models body type!!! In fact, at 6'6" i am almost a Hatt body type in comparison!!!

I am mixing manufacturers with impunity and i think this works well. The painted pics on the link above show them mixed together. I am mixing mounts and riders as well btw to add to the overall effect.

There are no Khurasan ones there as yet but I have some of the LIR and Islamic Arab ranges and they fit in fine with everything else. They are both very nice ranges btw. The 50 paces ones are also nice, bit chunkier than most but that is not a bad thing.

I must stress that until Mr. Khurasan confirms or denies, nothing is certain!

Hi, yes we will definitely make Sassanians, and there will be some breakwaist archer poses so that they may be depicted shooting forward. In fact that is next on the agenda.

Additionally an extensive range of Later Germans is essentially complete, and the first codes for these will be released right after the early byzantines.

Madaxeman may be discussing our nikeforian byzantines in his post above? Not sure as the early byz have not been released yet (they will be out in a few days, though I have a snaeking feeling that the initial stock is going to go pretty quickly!).
