I've been reading this list and it might be interesting to get into this. Who makes planes and what are the best rules? |

Boeing and Airbus are the big two
. Being serious, narrow it down a bit – any scale preferences, period? This board covers 1946 to present day, and good rules for Korea, say will likely be hopeless for Vietnam or later. |

For the period you list you might also consider 1/700. You can get a lot of the jets fairly cheaply from the plastic makers like Pit Road/Skywave, Tamiya, and Aoshima. Pit Road also makes some lovely aircraft in metal but the cost is high. |

Or 1/144 as plastic kits are becoming more readily available than they were say 5 or 10 years ago. That and the Japanese Gashpon kits are big and show NO sign of slowing down. Here are some manufacturers TMP link |
