"The Pledge update for April" Topic

Success for this month. I started off the month at +35 for the year, and after acquiring only 8 figures and painting:

I now stand at +105 for the year. The pile grows smaller! Vigilence is needed, however, as it's possible to get 200 figures with a few clicks and I'd be back in the red.

The other part of my pledge is to finish up a project a month. This month was good, I got my Skaven army for WHFB finished. So far I've declared 5 projects done for the year, so I'm actually getting things finished up as well as reducing the lead pile.

6 25mm AT guns without crew yet – I have to order them! Argh!

I haven't purchased anything and have painted MOST of the 150 figures I ordered last month so I am only behind by sixty-six figures behind on the 15mm project. I haven't finished any of the 6 28mm figures I purchased last month so I am six behind there – but I did manage to get them all assembled, primed and they are nearly done and I have another painting night tonight – so they may still make the deadline!

All in all only 72 figures behind on new purchases, but ahead by 93 15mm figures painted, 7 tanks painted, 18 28mm fantasy painted, plus another 30 painted 28mm Sci-fi painted so for purchases versus painted I am only 11 figures in the unpainted purchase side of things.

One question I have – what about figures you WIN at tournaments and such?!? I won a local Flames of War tournament and got about 8 more tanks/half-tracks/jeeps with my win – do they count? If so, I am 19 in the negative, but 3 of them are already painted and the others are in process!

Add them to the pile of unpainted lead but don't count them as a purchase I think. For me, it is about controlling the wasteful spending. YMMV

I've been putting together my space communists recently, so that's probably what I'll be working on in May. Its a mix of Warmachine Kahdor, VOR Neo-Soviets, Copplestone Neo-soviets and Back of beyond, and a 1:48 T-72 tank. I'll be doing quite a bit of conversions to these models, so they will take me a while and I'll probably paint some other things along the way too. I also need to continue organizing my workspace.

I've painted 220 28mm miniatures through March.

With other committments, April only resulted in 18 zulus.

Total for the year is 238.

That comes to about 60 per month.

Not tooooo bad!

Finally finished the 8 Chimera's I built or rehabbed from a bits sale on ebay almost 3 years ago. Most of that time they spent base coated until this year. Finished off two LR as well. Only 3 more LR & 3 Basilisks to complete.

May doesn't look to good though with a few figure orders coming in and my son's baseball season kicking into full swing. Ah well.

Did o.k., but could have done better. I had a couple of "issues."

1. I got a bit burned out on 15 mm stuff. I got the painting part done on a bunch that won't count yet because I got hung up at either the decal (for shields), flag, or basing stages.

2. Got some airplanes done except for the decals, which I haven't done yet, so they don't count either.

3. My birthday was in April, so I decided to get my self a shiny present. Or two. Or 206. Ugh.

Fortunately, I've gotten tired of looking at the mass of unpainted WW II infantry (some of which I've had for 25 years) and have made a lot of progress on them.
