Having never purchased anything from Ebay before, I demonstrated my internet accumen by accidentally doubling my order of 6mm cars. I had originally planned to use about 50 to add life to my 6mm skirmish board (yes, that was 6mm skirmish). I thought I might toy with converting 10 or so into mad max/futurewars cars. But with an extra 140 or so, I am looking for new ideas. Anyone? |

By the way, I bought them in the fantastic deal discussed in the thread here: TMP link 10 cents a car is a fantastic price. |

I would set up a convention game of car wars. Give everyone three cars and do a huge (5x5) table and have at it. |

I'd use them as refugees getting in the way of the military forces. They could be evacuating a city due to Godzilla, Alien invasion, or a natural disaster. |

Build a 6mm scrapyard as scenery
|
Cke1st | 21 Apr 2009 9:07 a.m. PST |
Make a parking lot, as terrain for a 6mm skirmish shoot-out. Lots of cover. Use the same parking lot as the setting for a scenario: one of the cars has a bomb that will spread some terrible germ all over the city. Your troops have a time limit to find and disarm the bomb. And they're under random sniper fire while they do it, so some of them may have to be diverted to taking out the sniper(s). |

small plastic cars + hair spray + lighter = memories of juvinille deliquency
Car wars and scrapyard are all good ideas, as well as things for Godzilla stomp on, clog te highways for zombie games
heck, you could give them away as participation prizes for carwars! Ooooo, if you want to be really sick, have your 6mm game be a version of the Iraqi retreat from Kuwait, and have the players in gunships blasting them. Whatever they kill, they keep. |

I deliberately ordered 100 to use as squishies for Monster Island games. |

Half for a parking lot and half for a scrapyard. |
Lerchey | 21 Apr 2009 9:48 a.m. PST |
I ordered 100 as well. My take, since I won't *need* 100 will be to give some away to gaming buddies, and maybe sell baggies of 10 (at cost) at convention swap tables. :) |

Excellant! My plan is working! (I made a deal with the seller, that if I posted a thread, some yahoo would over order and we'd split the revenue!) That's a free four dollars and 90 cents! :) :) :) Seriously, I'm sure someone here will take half off your hands. (I split my 100 in short order) :) |

140 cars + a couple of packs of firecrackers and M-80s = lots of fun for the neighborhood boys! No, use what you can in games, give them away as prizes at con games, and sell the rest. |

They pull apart easily (least my N scale ones did) and you can make wreckages and such with little effort. |
Smokey Roan | 21 Apr 2009 12:11 p.m. PST |
Sell some to javelin, someone. :) BTW, I think I saw some ollf the cars today at the courthouse. (a 1/300 of our courthouse and surrounding buildings. I want to steal it)

Put togetehr a few car dealers lots to add as decoration to an industrial area – In this country, they go together. Add them to roads as parked vehicles for some colour. Put wrecked ones on the front of small buildings to indicate the lower socio-economic housing area. Use tham as detailing parts for large spacecraft scratchbuilds. Offer them as prizes for the best idea on how to use them ( He said Hopefully and money empty . . . ) |

1) A junkyard (paint them like rusting hulks and stack 'em). 2) As suggested above, civilian traffic jams for Kaiju games, etc. 3) barricades blocking metropolitan streets during rioting/rebellion/etc. 4) split them up between civvie traffic, car lots, junk yard, and a barricade or three. Render a dozen or so as local police units, a couple of fire captain's vehicles, and etc. Hope this helps!

If you're going to do any urban games (whether involving invading aliens, zombies, Godzilla or the Warsaw Pact) I don't think you could have too many cars. I could envision my 6mm city scape having ALL of the ideas suggested above; a scrap yard a few parking lots/car dealerships, clogged roads
you could burn through 400 miniatures easily. |
Smokey Roan | 21 Apr 2009 1:55 p.m. PST |
Covert, don't know about where you live, but the "lower socio-economic communities" down here feature brand new Escalades and Navigators, and restored Monte Carlos and Impalas with $3,000 worth of 24" rims alone. :) :) :) |
Yonderboy | 21 Apr 2009 2:35 p.m. PST |
Lovely ideas, all lovely. I think I have settled on the following general plan: 50+ as random window dressing/cover for the skirmish board 40 devoted to a couple parking lots 10-20 for plain old car races 20-30 modified for Mad Max scenarios I am going to start a new thread regarding resources for moding 6mm cars for Mad max. |

Whose scale you calling "small" dude? Gracias, Glenn |
Sloth1963 | 21 Apr 2009 4:47 p.m. PST |
First, you need a suspension bridge in 6mm. Next, a really big and hungry monster. Let the fun begin. It could be a race to get off the bridge or the cars could be speed bumps for the group coming in to tackle the BHM. Paul |

I bought 500. I plan to spray paint them multiple colors, paint the windows black and use them as background for Godzilla and Modern Micro games. I also might paint up a few as stockcars for Formula de. Another possiblity is wrecking the tops and adding steel wool for smoke and making up a bunch of destroyed soft-skin vehicle markers. |
