Officially, my source states grey. But they probably had to use any color they had to protect the wood. |

There are many discussions about the official colour, with most people leaning towards grey or tan (not Butternut!). That being said
the CSA gotmany US connons when they split away and also pressed many captured US cannons into use. Those were painted green and were not repainted. So I chose to paint all my cannons in green (especially since I do not glue them to the battery base anyway). Cheers, Burkhard |
