I'll start this month. Last month's results are here:
TMP link

I had a great February as work has slowed considerably over the last half of the month (for better or worse). In January, I finished 45 Normans by Crusader Miniatures as well as 10 Citadel Plaguebearers for a total of 55 in January. For the Normans, I departed from my normal style of layered painting to a block-style and wash technique with a very limited color palette. I think they came out pretty good – still a bit muddy but not nearly as much as if I used "the dip".

In February, I finished another 78 Normans, 5 dwarf pirates by Olley's Armies (plus scenery) and a unit of 11 samurai goblins on wolves by Olley's Armies (sadly now out of production). February's count is 110. By my count, I've painted the equivalent of 165 28mm miniatures for the year. This is probably my most prolific period, thanks to the block painting technique. Here are a few snapshots of recent work in my display cases.

On the workbench for March are some more Olley's Armies orcs and trolls and a Majestic Bear giant. Then it's back to Perry samurai, which as you all know are not that fun to paint.

Pictors Studio28 Feb 2009 7:06 a.m. PST

Good job!

So that means you can buy 8 packs of Perry Choson infantry, 8 packs of Perry samurai infantry, 8 packs of Perry choson cavalry and 10 packs of the empress zulus at Cold Wars. Pretty sweet.

GypsyComet28 Feb 2009 8:47 a.m. PST

Another "bad" month, in that I bought very little (for me), but was the recipient of another small mountain of 15mm WWII minis, this time British, to the tune of two platoons of riflemen, several FoW support platoons, and an odd scattering of tanks from A9 to Firefly…

Exempting the mountain of 15mm WWII for now, the year stands at 53 purchased, 2 painted to completion. Not a good two months for the Pledge.

oldbob28 Feb 2009 9:00 a.m. PST

I do like those Normans, very nice indeed!

mweaver28 Feb 2009 9:09 a.m. PST

I have a few things that I hope to finish today, so I will post later tonight or tomorrow morning. Not a prolific month, but I did paint some, unlike the last quarter of 2008.

Steve, the Normans and Olley's Armies figures all look really good. I do love those dwarves. Now that OA is back again, hopefully the goblin Samurai will become available again.

Gypsy Comet, if people are giving them figures the only polite thing to do is accept them!

Jana Wang28 Feb 2009 9:33 a.m. PST

Bought nothing, painted nothing. Assuming I don't get any work done today… watching the biggest snowstorm of the year come down and not planning to go out at all.

eddy195728 Feb 2009 9:59 a.m. PST

Bought nothing

Painted 3 ACW cavalry, 96 ECW infantry.

Brings me to +73 Cavalry and +96 Infantry.

mweaver28 Feb 2009 11:07 a.m. PST

Glad you are all tucked up safe and warm, Jana!

Good record this year, eddy!

The Nigerian Lead Minister28 Feb 2009 11:10 a.m. PST

My pledge is on track, with the lead pile being reduced. Last month saw me at +48 for the year. (All numbers in 28mm equivalents.)

This month
Sold off my spare ACW and Brit Napoleonics, some 200 figures: +84
Bought assorted stuff, 110 figures: -110
Painted two FOG battlegroups, a unit of Highlanders and rifles, some generals, and some spare figues, 136 total: +47

Grand total now stands at +69, so I'm still ahead for the year but not enough to go joining the Old Glory Army.

Also, my pledge involved finishing one project a month, no matter how small. This month the goal was to finish off my British Napoleonic 15mm army, and this was done. Yay! Next month's goal is to finish off the Skaven horde.

Gaaaahh….

Sundance28 Feb 2009 11:24 a.m. PST

Getting lots of painting done being out of work, but I've also bought a pile of new lead. OK, a lot of it is microarmor so it will paint quick. An easy evening is five or ten tanks. I still have lots of 15s and I haven't even started thinking about the Old West 25s I got… Time to stop buying and bust my butt painting.

GypsyComet28 Feb 2009 11:25 a.m. PST

"Gypsy Comet, if people are giving them figures the only polite thing to do is accept them!"

It's only a Pledge issue, not any other kind. The old Marine who gave them to me is up against a pledge of his own, since his wife has decreed that a state of gaming project equilibrium is a requirement in that house. As a lead addict of a high order, that means something has to go…

These are also likely to impact my project list for the year, as I'd like to turn around and show him the lot as a painted force. FoW's early war lists are pretty basic, and I suspect I'd have trouble filling out a company of early cruisers unless I mix manufacturers (which works for infantry but not all that well for tanks), but if I can manage at least a squadron then I can morph my North Africa British to fit just about any part of that campaign in some form…

mweaver28 Feb 2009 12:32 p.m. PST

I don't count figures given for gifts (birthday and Christmas, usually) against my pledge. Only figs I buy. Of course, no two pledges are exactly the same…

highlandcatfrog28 Feb 2009 12:38 p.m. PST

I've got a wedding to attend in a few hours so I won't be getting anything else done today, but with 3 weeks off work it's been a VERY productive month.

Bought: 0. It's amazing how poverty and impending job loss can strengthen one's will power, but it's been close. I need something new and shiny! I'll probably fall off this wagon within a week.

Sold: 172. Thanks TMP Marketplace!

Painted:
15 mm ACW; 221
15 mm Ancients: 253
15 mm Tent: 1
15 mm AWI: 9
1/1200 Napoleonic Naval: 3
1/2400 WW II Naval: 61
1/285 Trees (resin castings): 2
1/285 WW II Tanks: 4
1/285 WW II Infantry: 143
25 mm "D&D" types: 8
25 mm Medieval: 8
25 mm Vikings: 10

Total painted:723
Total for month (painted and sold): +895
January: +281
Year to date: +1176

Huzzah! At this rate I should have everything done right around my 61st birthday.

My production is going to drop off precipitately now though as I go back to work (for a few weeks) and try to concentrate more on 25 mm, but at least I'm off to a good start.

nycjadie: Great work with the paint brush! Thanks for the pics.

Zagloba28 Feb 2009 12:59 p.m. PST

Painted:
90 10mm Dacians
12 28mm Colonial British
10 28mm Pathan Cavalry
8 28mm LotR Gondor Spear
8 28mm LotR Moria Goblins
2 28mm Maxim Guns
2 28mm Mountain Guns

Bought
52 28mm Victrix Peninsular British
1 28mm Ghoul King

So far this year I'm -110 on 10mm stuff, even on 28mm, and -3 on 'other' which includes monsters, artillery pieces, tanks, etc. I put on a convention game at GenghisCon which spurred the colonial painting. Since then I've been painting stuff at random, with an eye toward having all my LotR stuff painted by the time the War of the Ring book comes out.

Rich

Syrinx028 Feb 2009 2:20 p.m. PST

Lots of stuff is partially painted but with the weather and lack of free time this has been a bad month for finishing anything. March isn't looking much better due to family events.

We won't discuss the additions… grin

Monkey Hanger Fezian28 Feb 2009 3:19 p.m. PST

Well here is the news from February in the Monkey Hanger household…

1st – Health – Now diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue syndrome (whoopeee) so am coming to terms with this. (work very supportive)

2nd the pledge update

PAINTED
6mm – 272 (More French from Baccus)

BOUGHT
6mm – 336 (Baccus Brits/French to finish off some units)
28mm – 13 (Victrix Napoleonic Brits OOOPSS)

Monthly Profit – Minus 77
Yearly profit – Plus 266 (note this includes 1 miniature that is not in the ready locker)

Ready locker total – 1351 (Therefore profit of 267)

Currently my monthly output is 318 figures!!!!!
To achieve clearing my ready locker then I need to paint 135 figures a month……

Plan for March
1) Start Treatment for CFS.
2) Paint some 10mm tanks
3) Paint 4 bns of Napoleonic British in 6mm
4) Try and build the last 7 1/144th aircraft.

Keep well
MH
:-)

paintingbird28 Feb 2009 4:05 p.m. PST

Which puts me at +56 for 2009.

Cosmic Reset28 Feb 2009 9:23 p.m. PST

I've been making slow, but steady progress. No new figures for the month, and painted:

14x 15mm modern African buildings
2x 15mm Sherman fireflies
4x 15mm Bren Carriers
3x 15mm M3 halftracks
2x 15mm M1114 humvees
1x 15mm OG Afghan
1x 15mm peter Pig African militia
3x 28mm Space ork
5x 28mm toxic waste drums

On the month
35 painted

For the year:
Painted 87
Bought 0

So far I'm on target (need to average 42 figs per month) to meet my +500 for the year.

March should bring two small orders, armor and aircraft for 15mm modern Africa, and hopefully some progress on a heap of micro scale aircraft.

mweaver01 Mar 2009 2:21 p.m. PST

In terms of painted and purchased, I am going with a ratio of two painted for every purchase – except this year I am requiring myself to paint first.

I started Feb. with a purchase surplus of 26.

I painted:
9 Minifigs Valley of the Four Winds skeletons
3 Mirliton feast guests
8 Mighty Empires tiles
2 GW plastic Mordheim humans/Empire militia
2 GW plastic Chaos Marauders
1 GW squig
5 (Equivalent) Misc. bits of dungeon/town décor/ME bits

I purchased:
1 Reaper Garravank, the Ghoul King
7 (equivalent) GW Lizardman stegadon + crew*
10 GW Lizardmen plastic Temple guards
1 GW Lizardman Kroxigor
4 GW Lizardman Razordon Hunting Pack

30 painted (which allows 15 purchased)compared to 23 purchased = a net adjustment of -8, so I can only buy 18 figures this month. Need to paint more!

I am also on a budget, which fluctuates depending on weight loss – or gain – over the month. I am still in budget (lost eight lbs. since 1 January, one since last month).

nycjadie01 Mar 2009 5:01 p.m. PST

Great job, mweaver, especially on the weight loss!

TodCreasey01 Mar 2009 6:23 p.m. PST

Dropped the ball this month, with Cold Wars and Cangames on the way I don't have high hopes.

Purchases
83 28mm WWII
5 15mm tanks
60 15mm infantry

Painted
28 28mm WWII
41 15mm ancients

-88 for the month, -76 for the year

streetline02 Mar 2009 7:50 a.m. PST

For February, I've painted 6 Corsairs for LOTR, 1 Steam Tank, 18 15mm Tarascans, 5 Chaos Horsemen, 1 chaos sorceror, 8 15mm zombies, 5 25mm zombies, and 1 LOTR Troll. I only bought 1 Hasslefree figure from the local shop (and, I've remembered, one ogre from ebay). So I'm a good boy…

For the year I'm in credit for 42 small figures and 31 big ones.

Chuckaroobob02 Mar 2009 8:36 a.m. PST

I'd just like to point out that yesterday, for the first time in over a year, I painted!!!!!

Three Artizan Turks for pulp gaming!

Can I stand the strain?

mweaver02 Mar 2009 11:28 a.m. PST

Welcome back, Chuckaroobob!

KSmyth02 Mar 2009 5:20 p.m. PST

I didn't get as much done in February as I would have liked, but I did get something finished
38-28mm Lewis and Clark minis
8-28mm War of 1812 figures
8 28mm Space 1889 figures
So 54 painted figure so far.

I also took possession of my first new figures of the month, some 20 25mm Conquest Comanche figures. They're sure purty.

Year's total to date is:
106 figures painted
20 figures purchased.

That's pretty good from where I'm sitting
