I found this posting on the PirateWargames Yahoo Group, if I recall correctly, so wanted to inquire to see if we can create something similar for 15mm scale, e.g. a resource listing for 15mm scale Pirates, ships, and Naval/Marine/Infantry forces in the Caribbean, and other theaters:

GAMING IN THE "GOLDEN AGE OF PIRACY" (ca. 1680-1700)

28mm FIGURES (main sources)

Pirates:

Foundry (UK; thru many US retailers)
Old Glory (US)
Dixon (UK; thru Wargames US)
Eureka (AUS; thru Brigade Games US)
Redoubt (US, but larger 30mm)

Opponents for Pirates (Soldiers, Sailors & Marines):

Old Glory
Dixon (Grand Alliance, League of Augsburg, Marlborough)
Essex (Marlborough)

Townspeople:

Old Glory
Dixon (Grand Alliance Levy)
Foundry
Redoubt (can use figs from Three Musketeers line)

28mm BUILDINGS

Old Glory (Spanish line)
Hovel (Spanish/Mediterranean line, but slightly smaller 25mm)
Grand Manner
DIY – Gary Chalk plans in Wargames Illustrated magazine # 146 (Nov 99) and #148 (Jan 00)

28mm SHIPS

J&T Miniatures (also thru Old Glory)
Village Green (if they still exist)
Outland Games
Flagship Games (not "true" 28mm, but large enough to game with and have many ships on table)
Combined Arms (redesigning ships formerly sold by Wargames Ruins; re-release date unknown)
DIY – Gary Chalk plans in Wargames Illustrated magazine # 138 (Mar 99)

I'm interested in the above, in 15mm scale, for the periods listed below:

- 1650 – 1720
- mid-1700's
- late 1700's
- Napoleonic Era (1790 – 1815, or so)

Pirates
-------

Miniature Wargames Pirates starter set (currently sold out)
Peter Pig

Gov't Troops
------------

Ships

Tiger Terrain (production currently on hold, until suitable workshop is found to produce more)
DIY – Use the Gary Chalk plans, as referenced above, and scale them down, as appropriate

Cannons

Magister Militum
Model-Dockyard
Old Glory
Peter Pig
SailPower

Any assistance you can provide will be appreciated.

I will compile the listings, and re-post here, and on the PirateWargames Yahoo Group.

I was the one who provided the original list for 28mm resources. It is obviously outdated. In 15mm, the best ships I found back then were from SDD (UK). I got mine through Brookhurst (after waiting many, many months for SDD to resupply them). Don't know if SDD is still in business. I had two SDD ships, but I sold them a few years ago when 15mm pirates were no longer in the plan.

SDD is now sold by Stronghold.

Their stuff does look nice.

However, apparently they are unavailable, due to the propreitor's poor health, and possibly also due to the molds needing to be redone. That is based upon the last info I received from Mike, awhile back, but I need to inquire again to see if that has changed.

From the photos I have seen of them, they do look superb.

Top Gun Ace,

You are clearly off to a great start in providing us all with what you seek. So, why don't you go ahead and finish the job as best you can and the rest of us 15 mm devotees will work to fill in any blanks you might leave.

Can I offer the Grumpy Miniatures Pirates as being worthjy of inclusion in any 15mm listings?
I would also like to point out that my agent in the USA is Rob Walter of EurekaUSA, not Brigade Games.
