Hi all

Happy new year to one and all on TMP

Last months update
TMP link

December was a better month for me health and painting wise. My condition is still undiagnosed (? I have chronic fatigue syndrome) but at least I am back at work and have got the painting bug back to a lesser extent.

DECEMBER TOTALS
Painted
6mm – 40 (French napoleonic guns)
1/144th – 2 (WWI Aircraft)

+42 in total which was good for me with my illness reducing my painting time…..

THE Problem with Decemeber was the following purchases.

Bought
6mm – 1009 ( A bargain Baccus napoleonic starter set from ebay on the last Saturday before Christmas – I know I am weak and an extra cavalry pack)…..
10mm – 59 – WWII Russian armour and some more British stuff.

So monthly purchases = 1068 OOPS…..

So the pledge was to clear my ready locker of 587 figures at year start.

I painted – 1566
I bought – 2662
My ready locker now stands at – 1618

So I actually added to my lead mountain and did not paint all of my existing figures that I started the year with (Those ACW 15mm cavalry will be painted 1 day)

Since taking the pledge in 2005 my averages are as follows

Yearly painting – 2444
Yearly bought – 2401

So I paint 43 figs a year more than I buy (I'll live forever at the way I am going)

2009 PLANS

1) Get my health sorted out.
2) Paint the ready locker figs (it can be done)
3) NO NEW PERIODS…….
4) Sort out my collection and organise the many many boxes of stuff.

Hope you are all well and have a good 2009.
All the best
MH
:-)

Big push for Xmas slowed me down but things were looking good anyways.

Painted
19 Future Wars
Purchased
0

+19 for the month, + 87 for the year

Next year I am doing it again but with a focus on 28mm WWII and 6mm Napoleonics projects.

iceaxe31 Dec 2008 6:55 p.m. PST

I did it this year more for interest than a challenge. Over 3 scales (20mm, 25/28mm & 54mm) I ended up with:
410 painted
547 purchased (dear God)
362 sold

39 terrain pieces painted/made & 16 of them bought

1 vehicle painted, 10 bought, 2 sold (although I'm sure I sold a box of unused ones this year & didn't record it).

In 2009 I'm going for more painted than bought. And a lot more sold that are just sitting here. Yeah, sure…..

Barenakedleadies31 Dec 2008 7:16 p.m. PST

started 2008 well. painted 200+ 15mm goblins through March, then not much more. New job = lots of O/T.

Plans for 2009? Work less O/T and paint more!

mweaver31 Dec 2008 8:30 p.m. PST

My Pledge fell apart completely during the last quarter.

Going to have to fall back and re-group!

Cosmic Reset31 Dec 2008 8:45 p.m. PST

Once again, I only got in two painting days this month, but got a lot done on those days, mostly clearing off odds and ends from my paint table.

Painted:
27x Pieces for my 28mm modular sci-fi bunker system
1x 15mm QC WWII French 25mm AA gun
2x 15mm QRF WWII French Ft17 Lt Tanks
2x 15mm QC Modern Soviet recoiless rifles
1x GHQ 1/285 Soviet Straight Flush radar
10x GHQ 1/285 PT-76
5x GHQ 1/285 T-62
8x 15mm Peter Pig African Militia
9x 15mm PP African Character figures
1x 15mm PP Toyota pickup
2x 15mm French VBL (one w/Milan, one with .50cal turret)
1x 15mm M1114 Humvee

Bought
36x SST boxed game (20 bugs, 16 troopers)

Recieved for x-mas:
10x assorted Hassfree 28mm figs

On the month, painted 69, bought/received 46, +23
On the year, painted 654, purchased 537, +117

I didn't reach my goal of +500, but after losing nearly half the year to problems with my hand, I'm pretty happy with the progress. My modern Africa project is way ahead of schedule, and overall I didn't lose ground to the heap.

For '09, my Pledge goal will be the same, to finish the year at plus 500. Spending will be down this year, and I already have the figs for the new project, 20mm Vietnam, so I should be able to do it, even if my hand continues to give me troubles.

MH, Take care of yourself, your painted totals are still amazing and always an inspiration.

Hope everybody has a great '09, painting and otherwise.

Gonna keep this one short for the moment

Bought this month = 39 (589 for the year)
None sold, for a total net collection change of +589

589 growth/365 days = 1.61 miniatures per day, which is more that I had wanted to grow by this year (500 was the target).

Painted this month = 13 (308 for the year)

308/589 = 52.3% of growth was painted, which is in accordance with my Pledge goal for 2008 (>50%)

so its a wash, but not a bad one.

My project goals were discussed elsewhere.

My Pledge will, I think, remain essentially the same for 2009: Total growth of the "needs to be painted" collection by less than 500, with half of the growth being painted.

bruntonboy01 Jan 2009 4:07 a.m. PST

I only count painted things towards my targets….buying stuff just happens and I try not to worry about it. Managed to paint a final 7 15mm's on NY Eve to make my 100 a month target for December and a total for the year therefore a rather good 1510 figures. So 300 over the "optomistic" target of 100 a month for twelve months and 500 over what I considered a realistic target of 100 for the year. Chuufed!

Now then 2009 is here and it all starts again.

Steve Flanagan01 Jan 2009 5:36 a.m. PST

A wave of lethargy has undone me!

My pledge: "Paint more than I buy"

December 2008
Painted : none (lots started, none finished)

Bought:
1 Heresy not-a-Pyrovile elemental
16 Horrorclix
12 Flying Frog "Last Night on Earth" Heroes

Total painted in December: 0
Total bought in December: 29
Net total: minus 29

Year from 1 April (when I took the pledge):
Painted: 161
Bought: 170
Net yearly total: minus 9.

Oh dear. Still, better luck next year. (Or is it this year, already?)

Steve Flanagan01 Jan 2009 5:39 a.m. PST

Monkey Hanger – the good news is, is it is CFS, then 50% of cases recover within two years. I hope you're in that half!

Stronty Girl Fezian01 Jan 2009 8:18 a.m. PST

My 2008 totals are as follows:

Bought: 87
Sold unpainted: 20
Painted: 79

So this year the unpainted lead mountain has reduced by 12. Hurrah, I'm winnning! grin

Stosstruppen01 Jan 2009 2:11 p.m. PST

well the last month was not too productive 62 painted 15mm and over 700 purchased 6mm for my Raab project this spring.

Yearly totals roughly 800 painted over 1200 purchased 15mm that is,

then of course my 720 6mm

hey who is doing the spread sheet for 2009?

TheWarStoreSweetie01 Jan 2009 3:26 p.m. PST

I am with mweaver. My pledge fell apart horribly during the last quarter due to a broken hand. I will have to start off anew today and work hard.

nycjadie01 Jan 2009 3:30 p.m. PST

I painted more than 400+ 28mm for the year, well ahead of my goal of 1 a day. All in all, it's been a good year.

Need to step it up a bit this year though.

Jana Wang01 Jan 2009 3:31 p.m. PST

Purchased (for myself) no new minis in Dec. Managed to finish painting 6 figures… not sure how that happened. Year total: purchased 82, painted 62. Well within my goal of painting 1/3 of the new purchases. Will keep the same pledge for 09.

Barks101 Jan 2009 4:06 p.m. PST

So close.. and yet so far… I had a major painting push over the last two months to catch up from being 162 in the red by the end of October.
At the final bell for 2008, however:

Bought: 284

Painted: 282

Nooo!

Ah well. Roll on 2009. I hereby pledge to paint at least as many as I buy for the year. Thanks for your support, TMP Pledgers.

Brandlin01 Jan 2009 5:02 p.m. PST

please dont make me count – i gave up counting in June and it didn't look good then…

Skipper01 Jan 2009 6:45 p.m. PST

Final Pledge Count

Since beginning the pledge:
Painted 53
Bought 36
17 in the black (This was my november count)

Was going really good and then went into a store with GHQ on the rack and walked out with five blisters….135 6mm minis. Its just not fair,,,,I had such a good start. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Fortunately, I completed 34 terrian items. Assuming a scale ratio of 1 25mm = 3 6mm, I'm ahead by 6 figures.

OK, so I cooked the books a little, but the terrain was my project that was backlogged this month, so I guess I'm OK.

Slightly self delusional,

Skipper

OK, I've got it under control again

timlillig01 Jan 2009 8:54 p.m. PST

This month was pretty good.

Painted:
+1 reaper hooked horror
+1 reaper crystal golem
+1 Nekharu ceremonial stone
+10 forest terrain pieces
+6 mega minis bats
+2 werewolves
+1 wolf
+2 Heresy Dr. hugh & Dr. Masterson

Only one purchase,
-7 Hydrissian soldiers

painted +24
bought -7
December total +24-7=+13
2008 total +693-247=+446

I got close to 3 painted for each mini bought! I just didn't finish the big group of orcs I started. I'll be finishing those guys soon. That will be a good start to 2009.

Beyond those orcs, I have not finalized my goals for 2009. I'm trying to put the final touches on a points system that puts emphasis on things like sculpting, conversion and putting on games.

chonk3402 Jan 2009 2:22 a.m. PST

I painted a measly 22 figures this year. My goal was something in the neighborhood of 30 per month. I failed horribly this year. I'm about halfway through a squad of Space Marines, which I plan to finish this weekend. If so I will have nearly 50% of last year's total done on the first weekend of the new year. It can only get better from there. Part of my renewed motivation is having actually found a friend to game with. We went in to the hobby shop today and he picked up the first few units for his new Tau army.

imrael02 Jan 2009 5:41 a.m. PST

I failed – purchases slowed down to a trickle in the second half of the year, but so did painting. What I have realised is how much part-painted stuff I have, so my pledge variation for the first part of 2009 is to FINISH STUFF.
