Anyone out there in TMP-land played these rules? If so, what do you think of them? Any other set you could compare them to? If you feel like typing, a brief description of play sequence would be appreciated.

I've been working on The New Rules Directory. Here is a link to the World At War page with outlines of scales, mechanics, etc.

I played a few games of the Starship Troopers system (same rules, different setting) and it was very good. A mate has the BF:Evo set and he likes them, but he did say the lists are limiting.

The game is very fast playing, excellent for pick up games and the mechanic of picking your forces 'stance' (attack, probe or defend) to determine the scanerio specifics – setup, objectives etc is a nice touch.

the basic lists in the MRB are limited in their support options though the author has released a german armour supplement through wargames Vault and is working on the Russian, US and Comonwealth vehicles, he has also released an 'advanced' rules booklet which tweaks a few aspects of the game nicely – he posts on TMP so may want to add he tuppence worth. Mongoose is releasing an Airpower supplement in the new year so all in all a lot of potential – just wish Mongoose had used colour in the rule book! :o)

I reviewed it earlier this year on TMP:

I've acquired the basic rulebook, the Pacific War book, and several of Agis' self-published supplements ( TMP link ). I'm looking forward to giving these rules a workout.

I dug mine out after this thread – we hadn't really played it, got Agis' add ons and gave it a go (we wanted to do the whole Pacifi thing in readiness for next March) … well we were VERY pleasantly surprised, there were a few odd things in the rules (as they are supposed to be the 'core' rules for all sorts of genre I think) but Agis fixes them in his add ons.

It gives a very fast and bloody game at Platoon level and I imagine it is easy to up the number of figs on the table with no hassle at all. Mechanics are simple but proving subtle and give a really good 'feel'.

I am a NUTS fanatic but these will be great for the club who on the whole will not play NUTS in pick up games, also for a quick get stuff on the table and go for it games these are the best rules I have come across (which spans most unfortunately for my sanity) … don't be put off by the look of them is my advice.
