Are they "Fancy-Schmancy" dragoons, or low life scum of the Earth?
Late 18th C or early?
Mine are for my strange early 18th C skirmish and Pirate nonsense. No factual or historical accuracy is claimed.
Anyway, here is what I have, both painted, and in my "Maybe I'll get to them next July" box.
I have a low-life dragoon unit that I call "The Bad Company". They were inspired in part by Obadiah Hakeswill's Own Deserters and Ne'er Do Well Light Dragoons. They are Dixon Marlburian dragoons, in a stunning variety of coat colors and hats.
My Hoity-toity dragoons are the Old Glory Governor's Guards, from their Pirates range. Fops to the core, they have canary yellow coats and crimson facings. Plumed tricornes, of course.
In the box, waiting, are a bag of Old Glory's Fitzjames Horse, from the Jacobite range. They will eventually be a respectable no-nonsense veteran unit of Horse.
If you want posh late 19th C dragoons, AWI British Legion have a nice hat. Perry are the default quality recommended range. Some ranges may even have the leggings you require.
You might also want to check out various Napoleon in Egypt rangs, like Old Glory. In the "next July" box, I have some British dragoons who will become Yeoman Cavalry for the '98.
If you want dismounted tricorne dragoons in leggings, and not boots, look to AWI ranges for Brunswick dismounted dragoons. Hessian jaegers may fit the bill, too.
Hussars in Mirleton have a charm and class unsurpassed. IMHO. I have Lauzun's Legion for the AWI, and use both Copplestone Foundry SYW hussars. They come with optional pelisse. Old Glory and Battle Honours have mirleton hatted ussars with lance.
As for colors to paint your glorious units, I would not presume to venture a guess.
However, my sedan chair bearers for my Count are liveried in Albatros Mauve (Misterkit paint) coats with crimson facings.
Speaking of which, check out Eureka's brad new SYW Saxon cavalry, and WAS Dutch for non-traditional dragoons.
You might also want to check out the Old Glory Renaissance Turkish range for wild and woolie Balkan auxiliary types.
If your units are on the Turkish frontier, a little bit of imitation and recruiting might bring you Dellis LC.
Sadly, I know of no War of Jenkins' Ear Bavarian Horse Grenadier units, metal or plastic. Hiatus valde deflendus.
