Strike a light that looks like a great game.

Wow, that looks great.

I saw the tutorial for the table- any chance we'll get one for the cloth?

As always a great game Jeff. Thank you.

The rules used where "Napoleonic Command", that can be obtained here:

and have been discussed here:

We did make a change this time that required the units either battalions or squadrons had to be clearly seperated or suffer a penalty – improving both visual appeal and authenticity.

Like many games the initial plan and deployment, in this case for the Prussians, had some flaws and the rules don't allow good dice to save you.

I'm going to be starting to make another cloth within the next week, you'll get the tutorial.

Cool, glad to hear we'll see a tutorial soon- last convention game I ran I brought MDF and foam terrain modules and I swore I would never lug those things again.

Great looking games, Jeff. What figures are you using, and are you still basing 4 stands to a battalion?

Hi, Christopher!

It's been a while since we had a game together, but then it's a long way from Minneapolis to Helsinki. (Geographically, anyway, if not culturally; there are lots of Finns here in Minnesota . . . a friend of mine married a Hietarinta, and a cousin is married to a Martikainen.)

Most of the figures are AIM and Old Glory, with several units built of Pendrakens. I mostly make units up of figures from one manufacturer, but there are a few exceptions.

I'm still using four six-figure stands for a battalion for most games, when using the "Brigade Scale". When using the "Divisional Scale" to recreate really big battles, I can use two stands to represent a battalion, and still have twelve figure units.

How long did the game take to play, not counting set-up / put-away time?

We started actual play a little after 2 PM, and the final turn dissolved into post-game analysis about 8:30. There was a meal break, and several pauses for trips to the snack buffet (visible in the background in one of the photos), discussion of recent reading, and the semi-obligatory smoke or wee nip of Single Malt Irish. I'd guess about 5 hours of actual playing time.

In that time we completed 15 game turns, which at 15 minutes per turn comes up a little shy of 4 hours game time. Not quite playing in Real Time, but close. If, as gamemaster, I paid a little more attention to keeping the game moving and a little less to enjoying the fine company and witty repartee, we might have finished sooner; but, why would I do that?
