I have collected Napoleonic figures over the years in 15mm and 6mm, now I'm considering moving into 25/28mm. My aim is to recreate a little bit of the old Peter Gilder look, so I'm looking at Elite, Connoisseur if they are still out there, and possibly Old Glory. Can anyone help me as regards compatibility of the various types of figures and how they would fit with my aim of creating units with a bit of movement and style? I'd be grateful for any advice.

See TMP link

From my experience Elite/Eagle/FR all fit together fine. Other people have said Calpe is also a good fit with those three.

If people posted their actual experiences of what ranges fit with which other ones, I'll happily draw a big chart and put it on my website if that would be useful?

Having owned Connoisseur Miniatures and purchased both Old Glory and Elite miniatures, I would say that the three lines blend well together.

Connoisseur and Elite had a very good working relationship and very simular style. It was Gilder's work that inspired the Old Glory line with some added animation to the figures.

The Calpe figures look very simular to some of the later Gilder Prussians that were not released until 19th Century purchased the line from Chris Gilder.

Connoisseur miniatures can still be purchased from Bicorne miniatures (the older Bicorne line Napoleonics will also blend in with the Connoisseur and Elite but not as well detailed). Also the Firing line Napoleonics will blend with the three lines also, including Old Glory.

Hmm

So far my chart looks like this;

link

Dashed lines are figures which ought to be compatible within armies, but not units.

Lines with arrows indicate "larger than" but possibly compatible with.

I haven't worked out a notation for slenderer/chunkier builds.

The links are non-transitive -- that is, FOO – BAR and BAR – WIBBLE does not imply FOO – BAR

Does not imply FOO – WIBBLE.

You see, this is why I'm doing this instead of wiring together computers…

I mix OG, Connoisseur, Front Rank, Elite, some old Hinchliffe. They look great together. I have never seen six hundred men the same size so a few different heights when it comes to models is cool.
