Yes, yes. Of all the Pre-Columbian civilizations, the Andeans are some of my favorites. I particularly like the Inca vs Chimor campaign: "Around 1150-1200 AD, the Chimu founded Farfan in Jequetepeque. Around 1300 AD, the Chimor had expanded as far north as Tumbes and occupied the mines in the La Leche valley. The Chimu empire was supported by efficient colonial policies and a strong communication network. It has been estimated that the population was around 80,000 . . . Chan Chan was quickly evacuated when the Inca attacked around 1470, taking many of the Chimu artisans to Cuzco. The Inca then sent hostile Chimu to distand colonies and divided the Chimor territory into independent regions loyal to Cuzco." Here's a good map of the situation in 1463: link picture Now, IF WE COULD GET SOME CHIMU/CHIMOR FIGURES DONE, I'll be the happiest gamer around!!!! TMP link link picture CC |

Now, IF WE COULD GET SOME CHIMU/CHIMOR FIGURES DONE, I'll be the happiest gamer around!!!! Careful, CC you will still have some trouble.
1) We don't know what the Chimu soldiers looked like. Would they be that much different than the Inca? 2) We don't know what their weapons were. We do know that once they were assimilated by the Inca, they adopted Inca style dress and weaponry. 3) We don't know what their tactics were or how they fought. Therefore, either make stuff up or have them fight as Incas. In that case why not just buy Incas, paint some differently, and call them Chimu. But
then what is the difference between the Inca-Chimu wars and the Inca civil wars? How would you show the difference between them on the gaming table? Just thinking aloud. Ralph |

Chimu (like the Huari and the Moche before them) were a desert people. Unlike the Andean mountain peoples, shorter cotton tunics (sometimes only kilts) were worn by all of the Peruvian desert civilizations, often with belts around their waists. Their soldiers are also shown with small round bucklers (from what I can see in the pottery). Padded helmets with chin straps can be seen too. At least that is how I remember them from a documentary about digs in Chan Chan (the Chimu/Chimor mud brick capital) which showed some of its many painted murals. Now I can't find any pictures of those paintings! CC |

It is worth stating that these Outpost Wargaming Services miniatures are designed, by sculptor Martin Baker, to match well with the high quality, but "orphaned" Inca range produced by Foundry. They are even coming out with other figures in the future. They are also the best source for traditional weapons such as slings, bolas, feathered spears, macanas and Inca halberds. Also the litters/palanquins are awesome! Now if I could only get Neil Burt to paint up my Inca army, I'd be set. Ralph |
